Things I Purchased from the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale That Weren’t Makeup

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Have you shopped the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale this year? I shopped last week and was a little surprised to find that most of my purchases were not beauty related! It’s not because I’m not in beauty mode because lord knows I’m always in beauty mode. I think it’s because the sale just wasn’t that great and hasn’t been that great for a very long time in regards to beauty exclusives, sets, and new beauty items!

But I did find other things to love.

Here’s 15 items I purchased that weren’t makeup!

Anthropologie Happy Plaid Throw Blanket $44
Fun fact about me. Half of my downstate home is filled with Anthropologie Home items. Furniture, decor, a lot of came from Anthropologie Home. I’m a huge fan of Anthropologie. The fragrances, the accessories, the home decor, the clothes, I dunno I just love everything they do. Anyway, I have one of their older plaid throws that lives on a comfy chair in our bedroom near the window. I love to curl up in the chair, cover myself, and read a book. I decided to buy two of these cream throws for my outdoor patio furniture upstate. I decided I’d throw them across the chairs when we sit by the fire on cooler Fall nights! I love how they lay! You can sort of toss them across the chair and they lay just right every time in a picture perfect way! Plus they soft and warm!

Cubic Zirconia Ear Crawlers $22
I purchased a pair of these crawlers last year and got SOOOO many compliments. They aren’t huge crawlers that go all the way up the ear but they do hug the entire lobe. It’s a really nice look! I sadly lost one last year after a night of clubbing (which I’m far too old for but it happens from time to time when your gay best friend needs a wing man) and for some reason I never replaced them. I was happy to see them pop back up as a recommendation when I was shopping the sale last week and quickly popped a pair in my cart. If you want a nice elegant earring these are quite lovely!

Tory Burch Circle Logo Stud Earrings $46
I am ever always guilty of being a matchy matchy kind of girl! I have a really beautiful pair of Tory Burch sunglasses and I decided to purchase this Tory emblem earrings to go along with them. I wasn’t sure it would work and I was concerned it would look too flashy but they actually really compliment the glasses beautifully! The price isn’t bad at all either!

Smeg Rose Gold 50s Retro Style Two-Slice Toaster $171
This was a horribly indulgent purchase. I’ve seen Smeg toasters splashed all across Instagram for far to long and really needed one. Sadly, it does not match my French Farmhouse design in my kitchen downstate nor my Modern Farmhouse Kitchen upstate but guys, it’s rose gold….! EEP! This might be a return but right now I’m telling it everyday how pretty it is even though it isn’t technically toasting my toast just yet.

Luigi Bormioli 5-Piece Mixology Set $32
I don’t drink and this set of glass pouring spouts was made for a bar but I actually purchased them to put my flavored olive oils in. The spouts are plastic which was disappointing but they do clean up easily due to that. The different colored oils in the glass really look quite nicely!

Serene House Ultrasonic Cool Mist Aromatherapy Diffuser $25
I’m starting to get in oil diffusing! I typically do candles or wax melts both of which I’m obsessed with! But recently I purchased an Aromatech and I wanted something a smaller for our bedroom. I’m sort of obsessed with this whole diffusing thing! I got some delicious oils from ScottsdaleWholeSale on Etsy and got a Praline and a Cafe Au Lait one from a NOLA seller on Etsy and they smell soooo amazing! This little diffuser was perfect for the bedroom as it scents the whole area perfectly!

Bliss Plush Throw $24
Oh god here I go with the throws again! But can we have too many? People, I still have like five Lambie Blankets! If you know, you know! This Bliss Plush was prob my best purchase yet! I’m going to toss it on the settee at the end of our bed. I think it’ll look great with some of my seasonal pillows!

Deny Designs Citrus Fresh Framed Wall Art $28
As you may know when Summer rolls in my kitchen undergoes an under revamp and all my lemon decor comes out! Lemon curtains, lemon dishes, lemons, lemons, lemons everywhere! I also happen to be the weirdest person in the world in the fact I switch around art I hang in my kitchen for the season! This cute citrus-y piece is hanging on wall by my fridge at the moment and goes great with all my lemon kitchen decor. Sad sign but it won’t be around long as soon I’ll be changing over to Pumpkin Spice decor 🙂

Tory Burch The Miller Leather Strap Watch $129
I have a pretty pair of Tory Burch pink ballet flats I haven’t yet broken out of the box and now is a good a time as any to get them out for some Fall looks and pair them up with this cute watch I snagged up! The band goes perfectly with the flats!

Tory Burch Carson Convertible Leather Crossbody Bag $299
Sadly, Tory got all my monies this haul! Haha! I’m loving this classic crossbody bag. It’s simple yet elegant. I was happy that my phone fit easily into it along with my wallet and a few essentials. I tend to go overboard when I pack my purse! This prevents that! I haven’t yet cracked it out yet and it’s still in the box as I plan on using it for Fall! I love it!

Diptyque Set of 5 Travel Size Limited Edition Scented Candles $55
As much as I love Diptyque fragrances I have yet to indulge in their candles outside of the GWPs I get. I know I loved the GWPs so I decided to haul this small set which includes five candle scents. I’m sort of looking forward to when I use them up so I can re-purpose the glass jars to store makeup and brushes in!

Oh no – I am going directly to the website to buy that SMEG toaster. I don’t need it. I’m not sure where it will fit given that I have a toaster oven. But ROSE GOLD!!!

    • Isabella Muse

they have a gorgeous gold one too! It doesn’t match my kitchen(s) motif but god I love it so hard!

  • kjh

No Marly fragrance sampler? They sound like you. Is Tory Burch bought out? EL had TB m/u BIT fairly recent D. Who owns TB accessories and home? Confession: I have always been rightfully accused of asking questions one after the other, and not coming up for air. Apologies. EL had TB doesn’t sound quite right, either.

    • Isabella Muse

this was all makeup non-related. I didn’t include any of my beauty buys here! Tory Burch fragrance’s are part of EL but fashion, accessories, etc are all privately owned, no parent company.

      • kjh

I got this was non-beauty, but was wondering about Tory Burch in general. In many ways, TB reminds me of Kate Spade. Most unfortunate that, really sad. I’m certain I would never want to, or could cope with, being a brand. Thanks for the ‘tea.’

        • Isabella Muse

You mentioned fragrance so that’s why I said it wasn’t beauty related 🙂 Sure but Wasn’t really tea 🙂 just common knowledge! I don’t really feel like Tory and Kate are very comparable. Kate Spade is a public company so it’s run a good deal different compared to Tory’s not to mention Tory’s husband is CEO so I imagine there’s a lot more control there. And yes, Kat’s death was very sad! 🙁

          • kjh

So, the fragrance goes w/EL, not the family-owned design, etc? I have one TB eye palette, but not highly impressed. CCO, natch. Thanks.

the fragrance is with EL yes but the fashion is not. The eyeshadow you’re talking about was released five years ago but I have no idea who the parent company was at the time or who created it. That seemed like a one off created for macy’s, neiman’s and nordys. Further back around 2012/13 they had an entire collection that included lipstick and a few other pieces. That was created in conjunction with Estee Lauder https://www.musingsofamuse.com/2013/08/tory-burch-beauty-makeup-collection-estee-lauder.html Tory Burch is still a privately owned company, she never went public unlike Kate Spade who is public and appears under Coah which isn’t worth much shrug. Tory has something cooking with Shiseido I think but no idea what because it was likely postponed with COVID. It’s possibly we won’t even see it, it might be exclusively in Japan. But again, Shiseido is not involved with EL. They are parent to Bare Minerals and a few other beauty brands and fragrances but Tory’s fragrance is still held by EL as far as I know.

Something about TB design/style reminds me of KS too. I’m a long time KS fan with a sh1tload of her handbags, wallets, sunglasses & jewelry, so I’ve never felt compelled to purchase TB.

          • Isabella Muse

I must the only person that doesn’t see TB in KS lol! I love KS but not seeing the Tory relation at all!

  • Kimmwc03

I bought some bras, Free People jeans, a sweater and some leggings. Most of the things were sold out since I didn’t get to shop until today (I thought I spent enough for the higher tier but I guess not). Hope they restock some things even though I spent $$$$$.

    • Isabella Muse

I was August 7 and I thought I was at a higher tier too but I wasn’t! Shocked! Oh well!

  • N

I got a a pair of small emerald cut cubic zirconia earrings in the silver/platinum setting. I’ve given that plush throw as gifts before and they were a hit. I also got the same Diptyque candle set and I can’t wait to get it!

    • Isabella Muse

Yay! 🙂 I can’t wait for Fall to pla with all my candles 😀

  • Violet

That toaster is to die for, but the colors won’t look right in my kitchen either, sigh!
This year is the 1st time I’ve bought more non beauty things from the sale. I did get those ear crawlers in gold last year (thanks to your review) and this year I got them in rose gold. Acquired candles, towels, Deny Designs palm art, shoes and cardigans. Didn’t get any Anthropologie, but I do love their stuff too.

    • Isabella Muse

It’s in the box still over here and I keep opening it and peeking at it. it’s so gorgeous but I dunno what to do with it. Keep it, return it…! I wanna keep it haha! It’s been a while like that for me. The beauty aspect is a little boring 🙁 They don’t do the sets they used to do! So sad! Oh my gosh that’s awesome! I’m glad you got another set! They look real don’t they!? 🙂 I’m glad I’m not alone. Anthro is life!

  • Rstar

That smeg toaster! I got the smeg stand mixer during black Friday last year, and I’m so glad I bought it! I used the crap out of it during the pandemic home made meals and believe me, the smeg mixer is a workhorse. You won’t be disappointed with the smeg toaster. That is next on my list.

  • Ashley

I’m not a card holder, but I already have a wish list started. I wish the Diptyque candle set let u pick ur 5 scents, because i like the least popular ones: Jasmine is my favorite! Followed by Pomander, Mimosa, Verbena, Orange. Just an idea Diptyque!
