5 stars out of 5

Dermablend Insta-Grip Jelly Primer 3-in-1 Multi-Tasking Primer ($23) is a gripping gel facial primer that’s 30% off during the Ulta Holiday Sale at the moment. I actually just ordered another one of these with my current Ulta Holiday Sale order as I love this stuff and I’m down to the last few pumps of my current bottle.

If you love J Pack Jelly Primer, E.L.F. Jelly Pop Dew Primer, and Milk Makeup Hydro Grip Primer this is something you most definitely will want to explore!

Dermablend Insta-Grip Jelly Primer 3-in-1 Multi-Tasking Primer arrives in a 1 oz pump and will set you back $33 at full price. Thanks to Ulta all of the Dermablend line is on sale including this so you’ll pay $23. Sadly, compared to Milk Makeup this is a good deal smaller as that’s $30 as well but does contain 1.52 oz of product. If you want cool, refreshing, quick to absorb and no stickiness I’d recommend the Milk Makeup formula however, that formula does contain alcohol which sucks. If you want cheaper E.L.F. Jelly Pop Dew Primer is $10 however, that does contain heavier fragrance. If you want a formula close to J Pack’s Jelly Primer go with the Dermablend.

I love this stuff.

This is a gel texture that absorbs easily but does feel sticky initially. As it sets the stickiness does disappear. I actually like that sticky feel as it feels like it plumps up and firms skin once you apply it. It does feeling moisturizing as well! The interesting part of the product is the stickiness lends a helping hand to foundation as it grips foundation and provides this smooth, well hydrated surface for foundation to adhere which results in longer wear.

J Pack Jelly Primer has sort of become harder and harder to come by (they sell it on Costco’s website if you can believe it) lately! When I discovered this I was so happy as it makes a great replacement for that formula. Sadly, it doesn’t have the same ingredients but the textures are very similar and the fact it extends the wear of my foundation is a plus.

Dermablend Insta-Grip Jelly Primer 3-in-1 Multi-Tasking Primer is fantastic and remains on my ride or die list.

Where to buy

Ulta

Dermablend Insta-Grip Jelly Primer 3-in-1 Multi-Tasking Primer is a gel primer that has a sticky, tackier feel that feels like it smooths, plumps, and firms skin. The stickier texture won’t be for everyone but if you’ve used gripping primers in the past you’ll be comfortable with this finish and consistency. I love it personally and feel like it keeps my foundation fresher and wearing longer thanks to the protective layer it creates for foundation to lay on top of.

Aqua / Water / Eau, Polysorbate 80, Glycerin, Dipropylene Glycol, PEG-150 Distearate, 1,2-Hexanediol, PEG-150 Stearate, Hydroxyacetophenone, Panthenol, PVP, PEG-150, Stearic Acid, Quercus Suber Bark Extract, Sodium Phytate.

Pros

  • Keeps foundation fresh and long wearing.
  • Feels like it firms up and plumps skin.
  • Wears well under any foundation!

Cons

  • Some tacky, stickiness.

I’m happy to see you talk about Dermablend. I feel like so many of their products are really good, and yet you never see people talk about the brand. I love their pigment drops! I add a drop or two to my favorite sunscreen, or apply a thin layer over sunscreen for full coverage. Have you tried any of their other products that are Muse Approved?
