Rare Beauty With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm ($16) is a new hydrating lip balm available in eight shades. I’m always up for hydrating lip balms so I picked up one of these a few weeks ago! I was actually expecting a shiny type of balm sort of like the Tarte Maracuja Juicy Lip Trio I keep going on and on about but this is actually much more of a lip balm that I thought it would be yet has excellent pigmentation.

Rare Beauty With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm is available in eight shades and holds 0.1 oz of lip balm for $16. The balm comes in a lightweight U-shaped barrel that has a magnet closure. It’s very basic packaging that’s cream in color with the Rare Beauty name printed in gold on the side of the tube. I read a few reviews that said there was no magnet on their barrel but mind definitely has one. The U-shape can make it a little iffy when storing it with other lipstick bullets but it’s nothing too crazy. This product isn’t one I’d recommend carrying in your purse on a hot day as it will melt.

I got the shade Thankful which has a creamy gel-like texture which didn’t feel balmy at all and had the pigment of a sheerer lipstick. They advertise this as having a “kiss of dewy color” but there’s definitely more than “kiss” of color here! It’s quite pigmented. It’s also not really dewy, I would say it feels lightly balmy and creamy. There’s no shine to the finish in my opinion but it does leave a smooth, even layer of color on lips that wore for about three hours on my lips. It provides very lightweight moisture for me nothing dramatic but enough to keep my drier lips happy through the wear.

Rare Beauty With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm Swatches (Thankful)

There was a weird taste to these. Some folks described it as an SPF flavor but to me it sort of tasted like a detergent or a bleach. It was a light flavor but still a bit unpleasant!

Rare Beauty With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm was a like for me but not a love. I think the price needs to be a little lower! Maybe $14? I think the flavor was a bit meh as well! And I do think they would have been so much better if they had a nicer shine to them!

Rare Beauty With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm are available now at Sephora.

Have you tried them?

Where to buy

Sephora

Rare Beauty With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm has a lightweight, creamy gel consistency that applies smoothly on lips giving them a nice pop of color and some lightweight moisture. I think the formula is quite lovely however, I do wish they were shiny as per the marketing and I felt they had an unusual flavor that tasted like bleach!

Pros

  • Pigmented.
  • Lightly hydrating.

Cons

  • Weird flavor.
  • No shine as promised.

Who

Rare Beauty With Gratitude Dewy Lip Balm might be a good pick up for anyone that isn’t a fan of heavier lipsticks as this is as pigmented as one but a lighter texture!

Mine tasted like SPF. I liked the color but it seemed to “clump up” and fade on my lips after a couple hours of wear.

Thanks for the review! Bad tasting lip products are a deal breaker for me. Bleach…eww! I’m all about a a tasty lip product like BBW vanilla caramel latte! It makes mask wearing a bit more bearable especially if it smells good like that one. Take care and stay safe!

My pleasure! Me too! I just like a nice flavor! You too my dear! Be careful out there!

Agree completely– I bought a couple, and while I like them well enough, they’re not game changers and not worth the asking price.
