A December Love List
It’s December and the Holiday season is in the air. I’m trying hard to be festive but it’s hard sometimes! But that’s ok! No one expects us all be jolly with the chaos surrounding us at the moment. Sometimes we have to take the joy in the little things and go from there.
I have a December Love List of things that are making me happy this month!
Take a look!
One of the hardest things we had to do this year was decide if we wanted to renew our Disney Annual Pass. We typically go to Disneyland a few times a year and do Disney World at least once a year. When it was time for renewal COVID was just starting to get bad. We knew Disney would somehow honor the pass but in the end we decided we wouldn’t renew it and just get a new one when the time was right. I’m sort of glad we didn’t renew because obviously we aren’t headed into an entire year of this insanity and I feel like it may be another year or two before we things actually feel normal again! This might mean no trips to Disney for a bit. I’m recreating those Disney moments with fragrance! This Pineapple Dope Whip Perfume from Colornoise on Etsy is a perfect creamy pineapple and reminds me of sitting outside the Tiki Room waiting to get in to sing like the birdies do!
One thing I learned this year was that I can happily live 24/7 with my boyfriend. We actually never lived together 24/7 before even though we’ve been in a relationship for a long time. He travels from CA to NY and back quite often for work so they’ll be times where he is gone for a week or two and back for a week and gone for another week. I travel to CA with him on occasion but actually being together for super long periods of time is new for us and actually wonderful. We enjoy each other’s company and it’s been even better without friends or family. Weird I know because I do miss our friends and our family but everyday we always find something fun to do even if it’s something as simple as sitting on the couch to watch the news. It’s a novelty to be together so often. I’m obviously a fluffy girl but my boyfriend is not. He’s Sporty Spice and enjoys running and doing all sorts of physical things (shrug! They say opposites attract!). One thing we’ve started enjoying together is taking hikes. People, I couldn’t keep up with him the first time. He had to stop a lot haha. But after a year, I’ve finally sort of caught up to him and we enjoy doing these super early morning hikes. It’s cold now but I have to admit when the weekend comes I love the feeling of a brisk morning hike. The cold air feels amazing. There’s one area in particular we love hiking through! It’s not a steep hike and is more of a walk versus a hike but it can get muddy because of the cold and dew in the air. I purchased a pair of Sperry Saltwater Duck Booties for those flat walks. They are so comfy and keep my feet nice and dry! Plus they are cute as hell!
I’ve never spent this much time at home in my life! One thing I learned in 2020 is that staying home isn’t always a bad thing. I’m a very active person that has a lot going on. Dinners with friends, game nights, going to the movies, going out to eat, my schedule has always been packed and I spent very little time at home. I mean at one point our fridge contained bottles of water only. We didn’t really stay home all that much. But 2020 sure has made us all homebodies and being at home means being comfy. I’ve been collecting all these throws lately! Nothing like a warm comfy throw to snuggle under. I picked up this Martha Stewart Sherpa Plaid Throw for the couch in my boyfriend’s office. I love sitting and reading there while he’s working and this is so toasty warm!
It’s that time of the year where my hands are starting to get terribly dry and my face is getting super tight. I’ve been loading up on all the hydrating things lately to keep my skin smooth and soft. Two of my favorites are The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid Hydrating Serum and Sol de Janeiro Brazilian Touch Hand Cream. The Inkey List Hyaluronic Acid is super cheap and a great lightweight serum that absorbs easily and helps skin retail moisture. I’d say the Sol de Janeiro needs no introduction! It not only hydrates my hands but it smells amazing!
I know a lot of you are home and not wearing much makeup but makeup keeps me sane. It’s the one solid thing in life that I’ve come to depend on to make me feel like life is still normal! I still enjoy the ritual of putting it on even if I’m working from home and yes, I do wear lipstick at home. It brings me a feeling of comfort, normality, and it makes me feel pretty so why not? One purchase I don’t regret making this year was the Pur x Barbie Collection. I loved the eyeshadow palette, and the blush one, and the lipsticks. I got them during Ulta’s Holiday Event Sale on sale (they are actually still on sale) and I don’t regret the purchase in the least. The shadows were soft and silky and didn’t overpower my eyes. The blushes are bright and fun! And the lipstick we’re pigmented and stunning.
