Olay Regenerist Collagen Peptide 24 Facial Cleanser ($6.99) is a new peptide rich cleanser that supports the skin’s natural renewal process. This contains Vitamin B3 better known as Niacinamide that acts to brighten skin and help it to retain moisture.

Like many Olay products this makes some big claims and doesn’t do very much at all! It’s a basic exfoliating cleanser and the good ingredients it does include are very low on the list.

Olay Regenerist Collagen Peptide 24 Facial Cleanser arrives in a 5 oz squeeze bottle and will set you back around $6 to $7 bucks depending where you buy it. Olay implies it’ll firm your skin and help to restore your skin’s natural barrier while cleansing and exfoliating.

I actually got confused as at first I thought it was a basic cream cleanser but it’s actually more of a light exfoliating one as it has fine crystals that gently exfoliate skin. I wouldn’t personally use this as my primary cleanser as it’s more of an exfoliating treatment and it can’t be used around the eye area. I remove my eye makeup with an eye makeup remover but I do follow up with a cleansing oil or cleansing balm and use it around my eye area to remove any mascara or eye makeup that may still remain. Washing around my eyes is part of my facial cleansing routine and it feels odd for me to avoid this area because a cleanser might not be eye safe or in this case contains exfoliating elements. That being said, this cleanser might be a good formula for morning use in the shower. That’s how I’ve been using it as it’ll gently cleanse and exfoliate at the same time. I think the exfoliating aspect is so light that you can easily use it daily without hurting anything however, it does contain some drying elements for those with dry skin like Salicylic Acid.

The formula is a cream and as I stated above has fine crystals which I believe are hydrated silica. This does contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate which is an ingredient many people like to avoid. Sadly, Niacinamide and Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4 are two great ingredients but will have likely no effect on your skin when using this cleanser because there’s such a small amount of each in the cleanser not to mention you’re basically washing the cleanser off and those ingredients are not sticking around on your face.

As I mentioned above I’ve been using this as part of my morning cleanse. It gently exfoliates my skin but doesn’t produce any major lather. I do feel a bit dry after use though. I likely wouldn’t purchase it again but for now it makes a nice basic cleanser that keeps flaky areas on my face nice and smooth. The added plus is it’s fragrance-free which is such a rarity with Olay products.

Where to buy

Target Walmart Olay

Olay Regenerist Collagen Peptide 24 Facial Cleanser is a new exfoliating cream cleanser that launched with an entire range of Collagen Peptide Skincare that includes a new serum, moisturizer, and more. The cleanser is $6-$7 and comes in a 5 oz squeeze tube. This is a pretty basic cleansing that leads with marketing and promises that are unfounded due to the small amount of peptides that are in the actual formula. All this is is a basic, light facial scrub that doesn’t do that great a job cleansing skin but will leave it smooth. It is slightly drying if you have drier skin but on the upside has no fragrance. If a basic, gentle exfoliating scrub is what you seek this does the job but if you’re expecting anything more it may disappoint.

Water, PPG-15 Stearyl Ether, Glycerin, Stearyl Alcohol, Cetyl Betaine, Hydrated Silica, Salicylic Acid, Distearyldimonium Chloride, Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, Niacinamide*, Palmitoyl Pentapeptide-4**, Tremella Fuciformis Sporocarp Extract, PPG-30, Steareth-21, Steareth-2, Cetyl Alcohol, Behenyl Alcohol, Disodium EDTA

I am wary of many Olay products. I remember buying an eye cream a couple of years ago or so, thinking that I’d get similar results from a $20some purchase. Some coworkers raved about it. Nothing happened except some brown dried up chunks of cream under my eye and that my wallet was lighter.
