5 New Makeup Things I Love and One Non-Makeup Thing I Adore

Happy New Year guys! I hope it’s going to be your best year ever! I’m thinking of you and I’m manifesting good things in my heart and mind for you! I hope you’re blessed this year with your health and happiness.

I didn’t have a bad 2020. I had my job, I had my health, and still had/have all my loved ones. I had food on my table and I had a warm bed to sleep in at night! I don’t wish for more this year. If I keep all these things into 2021 I’ll be perfectly happy! People spent so much time and energy whining about how bad 2020 was because they couldn’t travel, go out, or see their friends and family but really why are we complaining? If our friends and family are healthy we can call them up or do a video chat and see them. We can still travel but I personally didn’t this year because I didn’t feel safe and I think it’s unnecessary unless you really need too! But we can take a look at what’s around us and enjoy those things! I spent a lot of time this year discovering new places to take my daily power walks. I also went on a ton of hikes with my boyfriend. We tried to make the most of the times we could be outside and much of it was just the two of us exploring places that were local but new to us. As for going out, it wasn’t as bad as everyone made it out to be. I mean, I spent so much time learning how to cook this year and we finally sat down to meals I made without burning boiling water to make them. We learned new things last year! We even gained some new and good habits! Don’t forget this past year showed us that Black Lives Matter and that we can make a change if we all come together! We aren’t completely there yet but we fought the good fight last year and it made impact and change possible and I hope we continue to fight that fight this year! Please this year as always remember to be good humans!

And of course, like most of you I spent a lot of time without makeup on as per the pic I posted below (The same one I posted last week that you guys stroked my ego raw with all the gorgeous comments you left on it! Thank you! You made me feel very special!) But also, don’t forget, I also spent a TON of time wearing red lipstick and excessive amounts of peach highlighter while binge watching our favorite TV shows. That happened. Truly it did. There’s nothing like wearing a full face of makeup to a Friday screening of The Mandalorian because you gotta look good for Pedro Pascal!

Which brings us to a very important topic! Pedro Pascal! The one non-makeup thing in this post I adore! I mean, he and I are virtually married and working on a child together he just doesn’t know it (our first born is totally going to look like Grogu). Also, my boyfriend doesn’t know about all this but it happened in my head which makes it real right?! I think as a geek I can say this man officially ruined the Star Wars franchise because all we want to do is drool all over him! This is just not the geeky way ha…!

There’s makeup in this post somewhere. Time to get on with that…..!

Here are five new makeup things I love this year! I mean 4 days into the New Year and already we have some great new releases.

Oh my god! None of the items in this set are new but imma throw it out there again today and say if you haven’t taken advantage of the Clinique Endless Glow Moisture Surge Set what are you waiting for? It’s 50% off today for Platinum and Diamond Members. Totally a score. Very few people know my real age and I’m not telling it now but I blame moisture. Plenty of moisture. Well hydrated skin will keep you looking years longer! This set is 50% today only at Ulta and grabbed one early today because it contains all full items at a great price! And most important, packs in the moisture for the longer hard winter ahead! New York is tricking us up lately as it’s a bit mild lately but don’t worry that cold weather is coming and hydration is key for keeping skin looking young and in good health!

Is it finally the year of the sticky primer? I hope so because I see a lot of water-based facial primers going on this year! Essence Prime+ Studio Hydrating +Skin Refreshing Primer is a new lightweight primer with coconut water and hyaluronic acid.

Another item I’m loving at the moment are the new Wet n Wild Color Icon 5-Pan Shadow Palettes! These so give Natasha Denona vibes! Each $3.99 palette includes five coordinating eyeshadows! I have a review coming up shortly on them!

I have a review coming shortly but Fenty Gloss Bomb Cream Color Drip Lip Creams did not disappoint! Totally a love! Creamy, glossy, and plenty of color these are my new favorite glosses!

I know, I know! We can’t really take full advantage of our lip products again this year because of our masks but like I said I wore lipstick doing the most mundane of tasks in the house this year so I’m totally excited that Estee Lauder has a new shiny lipstick! Pure Color Envy Illuminating Shine is a new, shiny lip color! I do so love a good shiny lipstick so I need this!

What’s your love list this month?

Anything you’re loving in the makeup world or even outside of it?

Do share your love list!

And again, Happy New Year!

I’m counting on you to be the best humans I know you are this year! Keep your optimism and hope in your heart and always remember to smile often and laugh a lot (You know you can always stop by here for your daily dose of my dorky self to make you laugh!).

Love this post! I’m loving Elf putty blushes and Milani Cheek kiss blushes, Physician Formula bronzer, Elf new liquid metallic eyeshadows, Chanel gloss, and Hempz lotions!! They smell amazing! Can’t wait for your Wet N Wild 5 pan color icon eyeshadow review! Their eyeshadows are pretty darn good for drugstore – a lot of color payoff and so affordable!

    • Isabella Muse

Agree with your entire list especially the Hempz! I love the seasonal ones ;-D WnW does surprise! They are cheap as chips and the quality tends to be quite good!

    • Isabella Muse

LOL Chris! Me too! WnW stepping into 2021 with some way fresh palettes. They look cute! Hopefully the pigment is good!

  • Nicole

A big yes on Mando (and Pedro). Also, I’m loving the new Tatcha Dewy Serum! Have you tried it yet?

    • Isabella Muse

I have not Nicole! I was going to order it but I’m currently using another AHA/BHA so I was going to wait until I’m done testing that fully! Tell me more! How’s it working out for you?

  • Tanya

I admit it! I was one of the people that dmed you the Narcos Season 2 info!

    • Isabella Muse

LOL! Ahhhh so you were one of the perverts in my Instagram dm box!

  • Christina

Do I need to start watching Star Wars stuff for this man? Hey! I have that primer in my cart! Have you tried it?

    • Isabella Muse

Haha not at all! He’s in a lot of different things. Narcos, Game of Thrones, Wonder Woman, Kingsman: The Golden Circle, he’s in a lot more than the Mandalorian. I just literally ordered it earlier today! I’ll review it as soon as it arrives and I have a chance to test it out 🙂 It looks good!

  • Anne

Right now I love nail polishes from Colores De Carol and KB Shimmer, but I’m just not into face makeup right now!
I’m still reading reviews like I actually am going to wear makeup to stay home and watch Pedro, lol.

    • Isabella Muse

I wish I was into polish more! ;-D I can’t blame you for the KB Shimmer! They make such fun, affordable shades! Haha! Yes, very important to have good makeup when watching Pedro! Also, you need to dress up for the occasion! Sitting on one’s couch in PJs and a bare face is simply not the way! 😀

  • Linda Whitener

Oh, Muse…I love your take on everything! And that includes Pedro Pascal. He broke my heart when he took off his helmet and gazed at Grogu in the season finale. The writer was a genius to include this exchange:

Mando: He doesn’t want to go with you.
    Luke: He wants your permission.

That ending left me a complete wreck. My significant other, who knows how much I love the show, gave me a plush Grogu
for Christmas (wish I could attach the resulting funny photo) – but he doesn’t know about my crush on Pedro Pascal!

I’m even considering picking up Colourpop’s “Child” palette – as if I don’t have enough green eyeshadows already.

    • Isabella Muse

ugh I sobbed so hard! The look between them! So sweet! AWWWWWWWW stop! I’m going to cry now! I think they’ll meet again! Or at least I hope they will! LOL you haven’t broken the news to your SO that you’re dating Pedro huh? Just be easy when you tell him/her ;-D Who knows maybe she/he has a crush on him too hehe! totally grabbed that palette as soon as it came out! I had to have it 😀

      • Linda Whitener

Like you, I was just reduced to a puddle by that look Grogu and Mando exchanged! One of the sweetest things I’ve ever seen in my life. They HAVE to meet again!

And yes, Muse, I need to break the Pedro news to Mike gently! (I once said that “Working Girl” was implausible because no woman who woke up *in* bed with Harrison Ford would get *out* of bed. It was a long time before we saw another Harrison Ford movie.) Gotta watch out for those egos!

        • Isabella Muse

Oh god they must or I’d be brokenhearted! They have to team up in the future! I wonder where s3 will take us with no Grogu!? It’ll be weird not having him around! Not to mention the Razor Crest! Mando needs a ship!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! LOLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL hahaha! Oh my gosh! Harrison Ford was pretty lovely looking in Working Girl though ;-D It’s ok! Just be gentle when you tell him! He’ll understand hehe!

    • Heather-Ann

It’s ok my boyfriend and Pedro don’t know that we’ve been dating for the past two years! I have to find a way to break it to them both!

      • Isabella Muse

HAAAAAAAAAA! Ditto! We have to tell our loved ones at some point plus Pedro needs to be told. He’s in for a shock how many girlfriends he has that he doesn’t know about!

  • Jane

I mean, not to whine, but… it was kind of an epically bad year. I didn’t lose anyone close to me to covid, but I did lose about 3 distant people I knew. I ended up having to cook at home for three kids, day in and day out, I ended up having to be the teacher at home last spring, and then again this fall (and will again this spring – and I feel privileged to be able to do that and not also have to try to work full time). I don’t care so much about myself, but this was a lost year for a lot of people, children and old people especially. Yes, a lot of people woke up to the fact that Black Lives Matter but it was depressing as hell to find out how many still don’t get that!

Things I look forward to trying soon:
    1) Ariana Grande Cloud Perfume
    2) That Baby perfume from Clinique that you mentioned
    3) ELF putty blushes
    4) ELF mint eyeshadow
    5) Jones Road Face Pencil and eye pencil (both still yet to be released!)

    Thanks Muse!

    • Isabella Muse

Whine away Jane! Rant, scream, whine, whatever I’m hear I’m listening! I honestly don’t feel like I had as bad as a year as I thought I did. Thankfully no one I know had covid and no one passed. I’m so sorry you had to experience that. Even have distant people or even strangers pass away is tough! I had to stop watching the news back in April because hearing Governor Cuomo up there daily telling us the death tool just broke my heart. I just kept putting myself in the position of their families and I felt so heart sick over it 🙁 It’s tough! I am however, thankful no one close or distant to me has had it or passed thank goodness. My parents have been stuck in since March so it was def a year missed for them and many others. I just feel like I don’t have any right to whine because my year wasn’t as bad as others had. I see so many people whining really small silly things like “Oh no Spring Break this year!” and it’s like really? You’re here, you’re healthy, why are you even whining about something like that? Home schooling, I imagine, is no fun! I feel really bad for the kids this past year. It had to be really, really hard on them and their parents. Kids need to be with their peers and just keeping them locked up inside isn’t anyway for them to live 🙁 It’s sad they had nearly a year of their life taken away from them. I’m glad you’re healthy though and your family. That means you did have a good year 🙂 think we made some change with BLM but we still have a very very long way to go! We just have to keeping fighting until things to change permanently for the better 🙂

Oh yes Cloud you’ll love! I’m eager to try Baby too! It looks like it’ll smell great! I almost forget about that Mint Collection! They also did a new hydrating collection I’m eager to try 🙂

Thank you Jane! Loved hearing your list.

Stay healthy and happy for me! 🙂

I love all the pattern printed masks. And the fact that we can buy the print or image of our choice and make a mask. A great way to express ourselves because more people see us than hear us.

  • dusty

Thanks for trying to keep it in perspective!
    Makeup I love!
    1) Fenty Cheeks Out Freestyle Cream Blush-I bought 3 & I love them!!

    3) Smashbox Always On Cream Eyeshadow
    4) Mac Bronzer Foiled Eyeshadows-Sunphoria, White Haute & Tide N Seek
    5) Laura Mercier Caviar Stick in Azure is so pretty as a liner!

My non makeup love is BTS videos. Singing, dancing, smart, hilarious & all so good looking. BTS has been getting me through some tough times.

    • Isabella Muse

🙂 Thanks for sharing Fenty!!!!!!!!!!! Great list! and yes BTS Army here too! Totally LOVE them!

  • Jennifer F

I missed this post last week! Now I want the Essence Primer too! I want to find the best dupe for the Milk Makeup one I’m boycotting. Is this it?! Sticky, moisturizing primer for the win!

My fave thing this past year had been cream blushes. I have sooo many now!! Flower Beauty and Fenty are my number ones. See my IG for all the others if you’re interested in the “collection” @Jennifer.refinedbeauty

I’m super thankful no one I know has died of Covid. I do know many people that were very careful but that still caught it and recovered. I’m thankful for all my cousins that are on the front lines helping others get tested and vaccinated against it.

I’m thankful for the teachers, delivery people, and the essential workers that have to go to work outside their homes everyday right now (we are still in lockdown mode).

Lastly, I’m thankful for Isabella, this blog and this beauty community who keep it fun and lighthearted everyday!
