About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I recently picked up the maybelline lash sensational sky high one and loveeeeee it.
If you want length this baby is it. I was able to build it up for a more dramatic effect too.

Next on my list are the wet n wild big poppa and the essence hello good stuff.

How about you?! What’s on your list? Have you tried any yet?

    • Isabella Muse

I am still testing sky high and I’m not sure how I feel yet! I def want to try big poppa though! Heard good things!

Thumbs down: I tried the Cover Girl and it’s awful. I had to use approximately 472 coats to make it look like it was even there. It should be called a lash tint instead, the color is a great inky black. Thumbs up: not drugstore shopping but drugstore price, the Size Up by Sephora is $12 and my new favorite. Makes my lashes HUGE. Brush could be better but it’s workable.

Question: Do any drug-store brands make a tubing mascara? I’ve never seen one.

    • Isabella Muse

There’s a few NYX Doll Eye Mascara, Maybelline Illegal Length, L’Oreal Double Extend, Essence Style Lash Extension, L’oreal Million Lashes. It’s more fiber than tube but Physicians Formula Eye Booster Instant Doll.

Omg, I didn’t know about some of these! Loreal Beauty Tubes in my HG! Boots in the shiny gold tube is good as well (better for length and separation and less so for thickening but just cocktail the two). Now I’ve got some other ones to try! Isabella you are the best!

I’m pretty sure the Maybelline Sky High mascara is a tubing mascara…At least it acts like one in the sense that you cannot remove it without hot water. But if you use the hot water, it slides right off your lashes in little clumps. Also it doesn’t smudge/flake.

        Muse and Michelle,

Blinc must have put an iron clad copyright on the word “tubing.” All these other mascaras that work in a similar fashion and contain stretch polymers and no word “tubing” in their descriptions.

Blinc and L’Oreal’s Beauty Tubes and perhaps Thrive has run into a problem. They cant seem to convince some women that it is not their eyelashes that are falling off. Their tubing mascaras come off in the “shape” of their lashes but some people can’t be convinced.

Some myths are stubborn. Odd thought. For men who may be using these tubing mascaras, I think they understand it is not their lashses falling off. Maybe because for them they are allowed to have scant eyelashes when not wearing makeup.

I wonder if there is a copyright on the term “tubing.” I often see the polymers listed high on the ingredients and of course the absence of waxes and waters. Come to think of it, I think the Maybelline Snapscaras are copolymer types.

I’ve been hearing good things about the Maybelline Sky High, so at some point I might give it a try. I still haven’t really found my “holy grail” mascara.

Just found mine recently: Size Up by Sephora. $12 and a dream. Brush isn’t the greatest but worth it. 🙂 Second place, only put there by SU is Essence Princess Lash, the one with the green cap, $5!

  • Kellly

I’ve been using Essence Bye Bye Panda Eyes. I like it. It’s the most smudge -proof of everything I’ve tried and not expensive (a big feature for me!)

  • Jane

Wahhhhh…. I want to try several of these, but I heard that Physician’s Formula butter one has fragrance in it, which – no. And I guess I probably can’t try any at all. It’s tubing for me or nothing – although I guess I could put the tuber on top? In which case whatever gives the biggest volume with the fewest clumps to be followed by the tuber.
