How to Wear Lipstick or Lipgloss Under Your Facial Mask Without Smearing It

One of the biggest conundrums of wearing a facial mask is you can’t wear lipgloss or lipstick without smearing it! How do you wear lipstick or lipgloss under your facial mask without smearing it? Well, you can always get yourself a long-wearing liquid lipstick! You can go through a herd of zombies with liquid lipstick on and come out of it looking as fabulous as you did eight hours before you started fighting your way through the zombie masses.

I am not a fan of liquid lipstick sadly. I hate mattes, I have dry lips, which makes liquid lipstick a big nope for me! There are formulas I enjoy but if I had to choose I’ll always be the girl that likes a nice shiny or gloss lip look and that’s impossible right now with COVID.

How can I enjoy my favorite lipsticks and lipglosses while I’m wearing a mask?

I mean, granted, I’m not sure who wants to wear lipstick or lipgloss under a mask right now but it is possible! It’s also possible to wear your face and your favorite lipgloss or lipstick without smearing them while wearing the mask! How?

A Silicone Mask Bracket that provides inner support for paper and material facial masks! These little silcone frames are placed over your mouth and you can secure your mask on top of them which makes for not only easier breathing but also, a defense against your mask touching your mouth resulting in smeared lipstick. Pretty nifty right? I ordered some and they were supposed to arrive today but with the snow it’ll likely be later in the week! I’ll let you know what I think! My mask is always slipping around my face so I also purchased the guard in the hopes it’ll keep my mask in place while protecting my lip balm or lipgloss that I’m wearing under it. I’m pretty sure you have to be careful with these though as I’m unsure if they’ll cause any holes around your mask. You want to be sure your nose is fully covered without any little holes in the seam! Likewise for the sides of your face where masks tend to stretch open a little bit.

What do you think of these silicone mask brackets?

Huh! This might be perfect for my husband. He has to wear his mask for 8+ hours at work, and always has breathing issues. If this lifts the mask away from his mouth/nose more, he’ll be much happier. Will try them out!

My first thought: the Jason look for the pandemic! It might work, but it might smear lip products with a greater vengeance than a mask can. My mask problem is related to my skin problem and impacts above the ears, where glasses and mask strings pull. I’ve had to remove it from my ears and lean way back in in public, due to pain. I guess for me, this would be Jason for real, as the elastic would tighten. I see lots of potential upsides, though.

I got a pack of 5 last week and honestly, they are hard to get used to. Especially if you rub your nose as I’m apt to do, because you just touch plastic but your nose still itches, LOL.

That said, I do love matte stay-put lippies, I just wish I had a place to wear them…

if there’s anything I learned during this pandemic it’s not to rub my face or my nose or anything when I don’t have clean hands so I’ll be good for that 😀

It’s better than inhaling the mask when you’re talking but if you have a prominent nose, it can dig in a little if they’re harder plastic And if you’re talking, it moves around a bit – not so much it interferes with the seal of the mask but it’s something to note. A softer one would be better if you can find one – might stick to your skin and adjust for your face shape.

I know – the type shown here tend to slide off my long Roman nose. Recently I got the soft kind that attach to the ear loops of the mask. They have an expandable loop and you thread the mask loop through that. They’re also quite soft and foldable.

No solution is perfect… sigh… Makeup is still an issue. Before I discovered the brackets, I got hooked on Korean lip tints (stains really). I don’t know how they do it, but they’ve managed to make them comfortable. The American and European ones just sucked the life out of my lips! I do put a thin layer of balm under the more matte types. Anyway, when I get to work, I have some color on my face.
