Happy Hump Day!

I hope you’re started your day off well and you’re ready to power through it! I started off well enough but I got sidetracked a little by Googling up Rex Smith. Who the hell is Rex Smith though…!?

My algo on Tiktok has been recently serving me up all these 70s bits and bobs. I think it’s because a few days ago I started liking all these hysterical Solid Gold Tiktoks someone posted. Now suddenly I have a timeline with all things seventies. Recently I was served up a trailer for the 1979 movie Sooner or Later. As soon as I saw it I was going to call my sister and tell her, “Do you know about this?” My sister is older than I am and she grew up in the 70s and totally knows all the fun facts about the era. Sadly, it was pretty late and I didn’t end up calling her and the next day I just got busy and again, it slipped my mind. But since I take my early morning break around 8 (I’m at up at 4:30 AM daily so by 9 I just need a second to take a 15 minute break and rest my brain) I remembered I still didn’t ask her who Rex Smith is. A quick phone call and some googling had me falling down a wormhole of Rex Smith. Now I have that You Take My Breath Away song on repeat and I’m not mad about it. My fleeting crush on Rex Smith (I’m not much for blonds) is coming to an end but it makes this week’s love list because it made me forget about the doom and gloom of the news for 15 minutes!

Oh you know what else makes this week’s love list? That new Juvia’s Place I Prime, I Prep! I’ve been waffling about purchasing the P Louise Base and suddenly here’s Juvia’s Place with something new! I’m noticing a lot of brands have been creeping back into the eyeshadow primer game again and I’m here for it. I popped one of these into my cart this morning when I snagged a tube of Cils Booster XL Vitamin-Infused Lash Thickening Mascara Primer (Hey 50% off on that mascara primer! Couldn’t not get some!) I’ll let ya know what I think when I tried!

And importantly, today’s love list, includes all of you! Thanks for making me laugh with all your comments! You all truly brighten up my day!

Feel free to share your love list!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. If you’re that person feel free to reach out and leave a comment or follow me on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Bloglovin‘.

OMG I totally remember that song, but I don’t think I ever knew who did it (or forgot, more likely….) Thanks for the link to the great past!!! And the Juvia’s place stuff looks interesting, as I’m getting close to the end of my Beloved Milani eye primer. Hmmm…. may have to jump on this!!

I had no idea who this man was until recently lol! I sort of remember hearing the song once or twice but now it’s an ear worm for me ;-D Haha! I just ordered some! It’s only $12 bucks so I took a chance 😀

Psyched about the Beautylish GC sale. What a great way to get the Circo Loco ND palette and get a great discount later, for a product you would not get w/o a sale that never does go on sale, or s.t. that sells out instantly. Not to mention they have great and some exclusive stuff. I’m thankful not to have lost my job(s) during the pandemic, that my pups are well, and that spring is peeping through the soil. Time to wear Demeter Wet Garden, that I’m sure you alerted us to on Hautelook. I also got Thunderstorm iir the name c. Gave it to a female friend who adores all storms, but the 4 guys in her house have drained it!

    • Isabella Muse

Mm happy about that one too! I have a few things on my wish list! haha demeter is one of my guilty pleasures! Enjoy! ;-D It’s gorgeous here! Tomorrow 70! Maybe Spring is finally on the way! Stay as blessed as you are today 😀 xoxo!

OMG. I’m old enough to remember watching Rex Smith on Solid Gold as a child, LOL! When I saw his name in the title of this post I thought, “is she talking about THE Rex Smith???” OMG you were lmao! This is awesome.

    • Isabella Muse

howwww? How can you be old enough to remember that? I had no idea who he was until like two seconds ago lol! 😀 He’s rather cute though or was ;D

      • Cindy

LOL I watched Solid Gold & Dance Fever like nobody’s business! He was a host (or co-host) in 1982-83 (I Googled to find out exactly when), so I was 11-12 at that time. I don’t remember him having any songs though, I just knew him as the guy on Solid Gold who sang occasionally haha! I’ll have to look up that song to see if I remember.

        • Isabella Muse

I wish I can say I know who this man is but I only discovered him five minutes ago haha! But it sure was a fun discovery! Go listen! It gave me an ear worm! 😀

I LOVED “Sooner or Later”!!!!! I’m old 🙂 He was dreamy and could sing…what more could my teenage heart want?

    • Isabella Muse

;-D He really was cute! I googled some vids/images and he was adorable (he’s still a very good looking man too!)!

I have a very guilty secret. I am old enough to remember watching ‘Sooner or Later’ when it aired on tv. I was little and it was the perfect frothy story of ‘younger girl meets cooler older rock and roll guy and wants him…will they or won’t they fall in love”… the type of story you think will happen to you when you become a teenager (but never really does). So much so that it has become my go to ‘I want to feel better movie’ and I watch it whenever I feel down and can find it online. It was a big deal and made Rex Smith an overnight teen sensation for a while….THAT HAIR!!! That song was huge and you can still hear it sometimes on 70s radio stations or in shopping malls or something like that.

    • Isabella Muse

that was sooooo cute and made me smile Paige! I saw the trailer online when I was googling and it made me want to watch it. And yeah, totally that teenager dream movie of meeting the hot, popular guy and having him fall madly in love with you Teen Witch style ;-D He really was cute!!!!!! he hair for sure! I had an ear worm after playing it twice 😀 I also did enough sleuthing to find out there are actually three novels based on these characters lol!

Isabella!!! I made it to a town large enough to have a Sephora so I HAD to shop. The checkout associate gave me a card promoting the Spring Sale and the line of Sephora stuff is 30% Off! What should we be checking out from that line?
    Thanks!

    • Isabella Muse

awesome! That’s great news! The sephora collection you mean? Is it entirely 30% off during the sale??

  • Pam

I had such a crush on Rex Smith after seeing Sooner or Later, I convinced my parents to take me to see him in Pirates of Penzance on Broadway! He looked even cuter in person! A couple years ago I saw that he was performing at a theatre in my state, can’t remember what play – I kind of wish I had gone. Anyway, I love your blog and have purchased many products based on your recommendations- I can’t believe it was Rex Smith that finally got me to leave a comment lol

    • Isabella Muse

LOL oh my gosh thanks for commenting today Pam! ;-D I plan on watching Sooner or Later this weekend. I found it on youTube haha! ;-D That’s amazing you got to see him on Broadway! Too cool! thank you sooo much for reading my blog ;-D I love this brought you out of hiding!

  • Carol

I confess to drunk buying Sooner or Later DVD from Walmart.com a few months ago. I am old enough that I watched it the night it aired. It is still a cute movie.
You can follow Rex on FB – he posts a lot of interesting stuff. Shaun Cassidy does too. Both seem like just normal, nice, down to earth people from what they post.

    • Isabella Muse

LOL I love it! 😀 I found a copy on youTube but didn’t watch it yet. I didn’t want to be heartbroken by it lol! ;-D Dunno if I’m that big a Rex convert to follow him on FB haha but thanks 😀
