Beauty Things I’m Not Currently Pleased With….

So, what’s bothering you in the beauty world today? Anything pissing you off?

You can spill it here and rant away!

My big beauty rant of the week is with Dermstore. I ordered from Skinstore and Dermstore at the same time. Skinstore I got my order within two days of ordering and Dermstore I am still waiting on. I tracked it but it hasn’t moved since February 25th! It’s a rather large order and it’s distressing I have no shipment details! Grrr!

CS was cool as they said they’d replace the order but I have wait until March 5th. Yeah, I’m impatient. I really don’t want to wait that long to get my order but what can ya do!

I literally had to edit this as my EM Cosmetics order came in and I am so disappointed with Heavan’s Glow Radiant Veil Blushes I purchased! I got two shades and neither looks like the promo images not to mention they look really sheer! I could cry!

    I ordered from Concrete Minerals in January. $100 order. I still don’t have it. I’ve ranted, raved, called … all they do is blame it on UPS. It’s been “in transit” since February. They won’t give me a refund because I can’t prove I don’t have the product!!!!!! STOOPID.

      oh gosh that sucks! I spent well over $100 at Dermstore! They were nice and said they would resend but I had to wait for March 5th which is a bit frustrating as they can see it hasn’t even left the spot it was in since last week! Have you disputed with your CC or paypal if you paid that way?

        I literally JUST received my order today. They totally lied to me. I ordered it on January 19 and it wasn’t even shipped until 2/21. I’ll never buy from them again. Just come clean, offer me 10% off, apologize, SOMETHING.

          Honestly, everything I have been ordering lately takes forever to ship. A chandelier for my living room took 3 weeks to arrive. I ordered Strivectin cream and that took 2 weeks….I still haven’t received a bedspread and pillow shams that I ordered weeks ago and no shipping or tracking info but it’s a pending charge on my cc statement. I’ve learned that if you need something important and you need it now, it’s best to go shopping in stores instead of ordering. You never know how long it will take to arrive.

      What? That is ridiculous! If it’s been in transit since February, that’s proof that it didn’t arrive. Maybe your credit card company or PayPal can help with this if you ordered with using one of them.

    COVID has disrupted shipping horribly, also bad weather in certain parts of the country. As well as the prior administration’s messing with the USPS. I’m having all sorts of problems with it as well. I didn’t get ANY mail (not even ads for 6 weeks from just before christmas until first week of February. There are still pieces of mail that are lost). Best not to have expectations.

      Honestly, I had problems at the start in March and April but after that things returned to normal even during the Holidays things were not bad! But suddenly the last few weeks things are weird again! I think it could be the weather as we have had storm after storm! Wow on getting things six weeks later from Christmas JEEZ!

    I have never ever paid for rush shipping before. Back in February my company decided to do a secret Valentine. When I saw who I got for my secret Valentines I knew exactly what to buy. So at the moment Lilly Lashes was having a huge sale and I stocked up on some lashes and extras for my Valentine. I placed my order and paid for 2nd day rush shipping. No problem they should be here on time. Later that same night I went over to Sephora website and also noticed that Lilly Lashes holiday sets were super cheap so I placed another with them but with regular shipping. Long story short, I received my Valentines gift 3days late (on the 17th) while my sephora order arrived 4 days after I placed the order on Feb. 2nd. I was shocked. This is the first and last time I pay for rush shipping. I understand about the delays bc of covid but wow. I just decided to take a huge L and carry on.

      I have to admit I hate 2 day shipping! In reality, it really isn’t two days as you have to give them time to pack it so that 2 days isn’t rushing them to do anything. I used to do two day with my ABH orders and I got it like 7 days later LOL It’s like WTF is the point of even offering it?

    Ah, Dermstore. They made me wait almost two months before they sent out my replacement because they said they had to give the post office 2 weeks to ship my order. Two months is not two weeks. This is back in November when things were crazy, but when a package is stuck at one post office for a month, I think it’s safe to say it is lost.

    Em Cosmetics, I already shared my rant with you on Insta. LOL! I feel you. I want to buy things, but I’m almost always disappointed. Plus, their blushes are nothing revolutionary like they made it out to be when it they first launched. They’re just like any other Italian baked blush formula with pearl.

    On the same note, Pat McGrath. The swatches are never accurate either–certainly not as celestial or magical unless I’m standing under a bathroom light.

    Other than inaccurate photo swatches, I think what bothers me most is how toxic some of the beauty pages on Instagram that I follow are. I swear, there is one page where not a single comment is ever positive (won’t name names, but it’s a prominent page). I’m not talking about people being negative over shade ranges or inclusivity; it’s over everything, from colour, to packaging, to shade names, to formula, even when they haven’t even tried the product! I miss the good old days where it was fun to see swatches and we were all excited to discuss what’s coming out.

      If they do that to me I will be raving mad as that’s a hefty order I placed! OUCH! If it hasn’t moved I feel the same way. It’s been in Nevada for over 5 days and I’m in NY! I think it’s safe to say it might not be coming!? Crazy. Em used to be better when they were with L’Oreal. There. I said it. But her stuff is more about pretty pictures vs actually what you get. LOL yeah, Path is def guilty of this! Girl I’m so guilty of this! I think I’ve become jaded and I am very judgemental lately. I apologize if I rant too much haha!

        LOL! I wasn’t talking about you. There’s always going to be things you like and things you don’t like, but I swear those people on that page like nothing. NOTHING!! How is that possible? But then they’ll later go out and buy the product…makes no sense.

        Five days isn’t so bad in this day and age. My package did end up arriving a day before my replacement arrived. But then I had to return my original; otherwise, they would have charged me. Unless you want to do that, I’d wait a few more days to be safe.

          Oh no no I know you didn’t mean me but I totally do this LOL! But ugh not all the time! Or I hope I don’t! I’ve become a grumpy old lady lately with makeup haha! Def going to as I really don’t have time to send off stuff at the moment that’s a pain in the butt. I’m just impatient to get it 😀

    I placed an order with Sephora on February 13 and received it today. Patience is a virtue I don’t have! I certainly can sympathize with the others that waited/are waiting over 2 months for their products to be delivered.

    I ordered the famous Biore Aqua spf 50 on Amazon before Valentine’s & it won’t be here until: March 9th- 15th. Im anxious to try it. I have a feeling its coming from Japan…im just so excited to see what all the fuss is about this product.

    I am glad you had a good experience with Skinstore. I have not. You said we could rant, so I’m gonna… apologies to everyone who hates tedium in advance.

    This rant is all about Skinstore. I will NEVER order from them again. Never.
    I purchased a Foreo Luna device from Skinstore, took it out of the box, charged it and wouldn’t turn on. Ever. Not once.
    Tried everything in the book to get it to work, googled it, tried everything I found, watched youtube vids- still nothing. (I did find out that this isn’t uncommon with Foreos, though. Some of them just never work- go figure)

    I wrote to Skinstore Customer Service to do an exchange, and even though I had just purchased the Foreo from them a week ago and the Foreo had never worked, they said that they were a “third party seller” and had no responsibility for the defective product. They instructed me to contact Foreo directly- however the company Skinstore gave me the contact info for was NuFace, not Foreo. I wrote Skinstore back asking if this was correct, and got no answer.

    I did research and found that NuFace is NOT connected to Foreo, so I wrote directly to Foreo. They wanted many documented things in order to prove my ownership; serial numbers, photos, and Proof of Purchase, and even when all that was provided the matter would need to be thoroughly reviewed.

    Well, of course I couldn’t find my Skinstore packing slip, so I tried to print out a copy of my order/receipt of purchase from Skinstore. Curiously, they will not let you print out a readable copy of your order/receipt. (If you aren’t going to stand by the product you just sold me, then at least allow me to print out what I need to take it up with the manufacturer! Nope.)

    Wrote back to Skinstore with this entire thread, and they responded with 2 completely different sets of instructions, neither of which worked, after trying every which way. At this point I enlisted friends and family and had them look at everything, (this whole problem, from device to responses) thinking that I was just missing something obvious or was being a noob. Again nope. Nothing worked. I wasn’t being a dolt.

    So I wrote to Skinstore again asking for help and got nothing back other than an auto response saying someone would get back to me. After a couple of weeks of (surprise!) nothing, I wrote again, this time BEGGING them to help me, and again got zero except the auto response, then again: nothing. I think I ended up trying to converse with Skinstore about this 9 or 10 times. I got zero workable advice.

    So now I have a brick of an expensive Foreo that has never worked, not even once, and a hatred for Skinstore that I will take to my grave. (truly sad because they used to be my go-to!)

    Skinstore’s customer service is, without a doubt, the absolute worst I have ever encountered. I actually got the feeling that they were messing with me on purpose, and that’s effed up.

    So please, think twice before you order any device (or really anything) from them. Ask yourself if you can afford to lose the amount you’re spending, because that is a VERY real possibility.

      Oh my gosh that’s HORRIBLE! I’m so sorry this happened to you Rita! Have you asked them via social media? Sometimes if you embarrass them enough on social they’ll ask you to DM them the info! I had to do that with Aromatech once and finally got the CS I needed. Ugh this is a great warning for future customers thanks for sharing!

      Can you do a print screen and paste it into a word doc and print it that way? That is severely messed up! I always find it baffling when a company will sell a product and then make you go to the manufacturer when it’s defective. It NEVER worked! They sold the defective product, not the manufacturer! That would put a bad taste in my mouth as well. I hope it eventually works out though!

      aw sorry Leslie! It’s been good here, not bad at all! In April last year though it was REALLY bad due to the shut downs. But right now it’s rare I have any shipping issues but I feel your pain and frustration!

    Not an order but a product! I’ve started noticing lines on my forehead, frown lines etc. Super freaking annoying to me because I feel way too young but whatever! I managed to pick up an overnight glycolic acid serum insanely cheap and I loved how much better my skin was looking, so much so I bought the same one full price again, I was already using SPF religiously and all the other good stuff. I really started to want to try something stronger to pack more of a punch and started coveting the Herbivore AHA/BHA serum like crazy – cute packaging, great reviews, plant based, and dual powered. Come Christmas time, hallelujah! Cult Beauty had a holiday set containing the full sized serum and a 30ml pot of the matching mask (usually �53 for 50 ml) for the price of just the serum (�42ish) – happy days!

    The serum SUCKS. I hate it so much. I swear to almighty God it undid all the work the previous two bottles of glycolic did – my wrinkles and overall skin condition started looking way worse, and I got more pimples! I decided to stick with it in case my skin was just getting used to the stronger % and combo of acids and hoped it would balance out. Nope! Used the whole bottle hoping I would adjust (and not wanting to have wasted my money) and zero improvement ever. One week using my old serum and skin is recovering nicely. So so angry at that stupid serum, and really at myself for using it all! It must be that BHAs aren’t for me but I still blame the serum

I just hate when something is working for me and I decide to switch things up and instead of making things better I go and make them worst!         Thankfully the damage is on the mend now! I’ve just realised what a massive rant that was – I guess I needed to get that out more than I realised! Definitely so annoying when you change something all hopeful and it has the opposite effect to that you wanted. Glad you’re doing well, and I am too thanks for asking 🙂
