Fenty Gloss Bomb Dip Completely Tone-Deaf About Germs

Hey Fenty! Hi! How are ya? I hope you’re doing great over there. I noticed you have a new Gloss Bomb Dip or is it GlossBombDip? Exciting! It’s always great to hear about your new releases! It’s available now at sephora.com even though many people thought it was a joke!

I just wanted to kind of have a one on one girl chat with you for a sec. So, like, I dunno if no one told you or the memo got lost in the mail but we’re in the middle of a pandemic. Cringe! Yeah, I know. It’s been bad. Last year, everyone was locked in their houses and couldn’t go out (some of us still are EEP!). Yeah, and also, now we have a vaccine but today on the news 100 full vaccinated people got sick. It’s been a wild and crazy time let me tell you.

So, about that Gloss Bomb Dip and your marketing about applying it with a “few finger taps” maybe we should hold off on this launch? Oh! It’s coming out April 2nd? I see…..so, it’s a gloss and it’s in a cute little container and you apply it with your fingers….Mmmm hmmm…right…..

Ok, well, thanks!

Who in the world thought this was a good idea right now? I mean, I know beauty launches are planned years in advance but maybe Fenty Gloss Bomb Dip should have been pushed forward until the pandemic is over. First off, no one wants to dip into a lipgloss with their fingers even when there isn’t a pandemic but there is one so, yeah, probably not a product I wanna purchase. I haven’t waned to dip my fingers into a gloss pot for years now! It’s messy, unhygienic, and isn’t exactly travel-friendly.

I think it’s safe to say Fenty Gloss Bomb Dip is a skip for me but hey, it launches April 2nd if you absolutely need it at Sephora.

Available now at Sephora.com!

And Fenty seems to be about warm tone colors. I need straight up winter cool tone colors. Event horizon black mascaras and eyeliners.

I think I’d just use a lip brush with it? Do people even use lip brushes any more or am I getting old?

    • Isabella Muse

it doesn’t come with one which is annoying but even with a lip brush it’s annoying to carry around and apply like that or at least I think it is. They also market it to use with fingers which is um kind of ewww!

  • Taylor Jaye

Yeeeaaahhhh…hard pass from me. I foresee this showing up on sale in the near future.

  • Sarah

I don’t mind using my fingers in products (even before the pandemic I was washing my hands 20+ times a day ) or using a lip brush (the one I use is self contained) but the texture and the opacity aren’t my thing.

  • Susan

If — I know, I know, a big IF — you keep your hands scrupulously clean, I don’t have a problem with this. I’m as old as dirt and remember this is how all the lip glosses used to be back in the day. And really, is it that much worse that using an applicator that you dip in the product, expose to air, put on your lips, expose to air again, dip back in the product, and repeat literally dozens of times without ever washing the applicator?

I’m totally a clean freak and have had my Covid vaccine doses, but as long as I keep my hands and products as clean as I can and never share them, I’m OK with it. Having said that, I don’t even like Fenty products! But if Yardley ever brought back their Pot o’ Gloss, I’d knock down anyone to get my hands (pun intended) on them. 😉

I remember too – I loved gloss in pots! Why are younger women so freaked out by anything in a pot or jar? That was even before covid. If you apply it with clean hands, there’s no problem.

If only Yardley would bring back their makeup… it would be the hit of the century! Pot o’Gloss was always on my lips in high school…

      • Mariele

I think younger people in general are hypersensitive to germs. It’s a shame, because it’s ruining our immune systems! I believe it was linked to all the allergies and food intolerances that have been increasing every year. When you don’t expose yourself to germs and let your immune system build up its defenses gradually, it can’t handle any shocks whatsoever. It’s honestly sad to think about. 🙁

        • Eraser

Exactly. It was bad before covid and now it’s out of control. People need to exercise some common sense.

  • Susan

Oh, wait, I just remembered what tomorrow is (April Fool’s). Ya got me, Fenty! I always fall for the first makeup-related April Fool’s joke every darn year. 😀 (But I still want the 1970s Yardley Pot o’ Gloss back….)

      • Susan

If you check the product’s supposed IG page, there’s only one color, and there’s absolutely no mention of the product anywhere else. I don’t think it’s real. But I admit, they got me! lol

        • Isabella Muse

          Gosh I hope you’re right! It’s a cringe if it’s real LOL!

  • Manal Niazi

I feel like this might be an April’s fool prank though. Huda beauty came out with a prank kayali fragrance and sigma
Released a 6 in 1 Swiss army knife type brush tool as a prank so this might be one too.
Let’s see by tomorrow If it’s real

    • Isabella Muse

It’s tomorrow 🙂 Today is April 1st and nada about it being a joke! So looks like it’s real!

  • Ashley m

Germs galore I agree & the outer plastic packaging wouldn’t stand a chance in my diaper bag aka my handbag full of makeup & skincare weighing more than it should. I could see the packaging cracking a week after I open it.

  • Susan

Well, apparently I was wrong that this was an April Fool’s joke and it’s real. I liked gloss in pots back in the day but am not a fan of Fenty products in general; they just don’t work for me and are often gritty.

    • Isabella Muse

I didn’t think it was. They did update their description on IG to use it with well cleaned hands which made me laugh haha!
