Estee Lauder Closes Rodin Olio Lusso

Estee Lauder is closing Rodin Olio Lusso and the company will cease operations very soon, April 19 to be exact! This is one of a few brands Estee Lauder has closed down recently and I think the list might grow in the next several months! Becca being one of the brands that is part of the EL family which will cease to exist as of September 2021.

Estee Lauder acquired Rodin in 2014 from Linda Rodin who is no longer involved with the brand. Rodin face oil was one of their most popular offerings but they had a wide variety of other skincare as well as color cosmetics.

The pandemic has been a difficult period for the beauty industry and with L’Oreal and Estee Lauder dropping some serious cash on many brands in recent years it comes as no surprise they need to start the great purge to put focus on the brands that are making them money.

Are you a fan of Rodin?

Will you miss the line?

I actually did like their makeup but I’m not sure it’s a brand I’ll miss very much!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Know when you find a tiny makeup boutique in a totally unexpected place? Like a tiny shop in a repurposed post office a couple of blocks from Plymouth Rock? Rodin o.l. was a featured line, at least before EL acquisition. The packaging and surface treatment of powder products rivaled Chantecaille. Joni Mitchell sang ‘Don’t it always seem to go, that we don’t know what we got till it’s gone?’ The shop and the line are gone, and I will miss both.

I KNOW exactly what you mean! It’s how I discovered Lady Primrose! It was a small shop in Cocoa Beach with all sorts of lovely things and a gateway to all things Lady Primrose! Joni Mitchel was right. Truer words were never spoken! “they paved paradise and put up a parking lot”

Sad commentary. But soooo true. Time to put these places and lines in the realm of nostalgia, rather than ruing their passing. The takeaway from the song is that humans take more from the environment in the name of profit than they ever can give back.

🙁 it is sad. Change sucks as does the passing of time!

Ooh, Lady Primrose! Forgot about that brand. Amazing lotion and overall vibe!

LOVE it! Too bad they really cut down on their offerings 🙁

I have the lovely highlighter that is pictured. Never used it cos it’s so pretty!
I did buy some of their face oils, but they weren’t impressive for the price and even caused some cystic acne.

I always avoided because I don’t put essential oils anywhere near my face, but I liked the look of the lipsticks.

I liked the original oil but felt it was overpriced. On the plus side it introduced me to the national treasure that is Linda Rodin. I never really got into all the other stuff that was added after she sold it.
