Here’s What I Love Putting On My Face, Lips, and Eyes Lately

It’s currently 5:30 AM and this post is set to go live around 12ish my time here in Gotham. By that time I’ll have my makeup on but right now I’m running around bare faced and free. During isolation I never stopped wearing makeup. I know so many of you were like, “I’m just not up for makeup right now!” and that’s ok! Everyone deals with things a little differently. But for me makeup represented normalcy. When things were out of control and chaotic I kept to my routine because it made me feel safe and grounded. That meant getting up and keeping my normal work schedule, showering, dressing, and wearing my makeup. There might have been a time or two I sat around in PJs but I always had my makeup on ha…!

I think the potential to fall into a pit of despair was easy enough during the pandemic, BLM, and any other of the number of things that were going on at the time. I never gave in though and I stayed strong even though my heart was hurting and still is for everything that is going wrong right now. It’s so hard sometimes to write about lipstick and eyeshadow when the news is flashing images of Indian across the screen or shootings across the US. I’m a sensitive soul so it takes a lot not to let all this get to me.

I think if you’re down right now and feel like things are absolutely bonkers you should embrace the things you love a little more. It’ll really help. That could mean reading more or watching your favorite TV show, working in your garden, or like me, maybe you want to apply makeup and a pretty outfit to make you feel normal again. Whatever that thing is you love get out there and do it. It’ll make you feel good. I know that won’t always be easy for some people but I know you can do it. I believe in you!

Wanna make a list with me of what you’re loving lately?

I have a few that I’m enjoying for my face, eyes, and lips!

Makeup Revolution Conceal & Hydrate Foundation
This has totally become my ride or die. I noticed yesterday while I was applying that I rarely use anything else on my face lately. It’s lightweight, provides sheer to medium coverage, and looks fresh and natural. It’s also very hydrating so it doesn’t look dry nor does it adhere to drier areas on my face not to mention it really brightens up my complexion!

Cosrx Advanced Snail 96 Mucin Power Essence
I sound like a broken record with this one but take it from someone who’s tried a lot of different snail mucin products this is the best of the best. It has a high level of snail mucin, it’s super hydrating, and it’s really the perfect second step in any skincare routine.

Bliss Drench & Quench 4 Hyaluronic Acids + Amino Acids All-Day Moisture Serum
Bliss sent me a bottle of this a few weeks ago and I’ve been testing it out. It’s actually become my favorite HA at the moment. It’s loaded up! This one contains Sodium Hyaluronate, Sodium Hyaluronate Crosspolymer, Hydrolyzed Sodium Hyaluronate, and Sodium Acetylated Hyaluronate! Damnnnn! But the best part about it is the fact you can visibly see results after application. My skin not only feels more hydrated using it but it looks plumper and smoother. This was one is a keeper!

Maybelline Super Stay Full Coverage Under-Eye Concealer
Sometimes I forget that there is life before Tarte Shape Tape. I love my Shape Tape but there are other great options. I started re-using Super Stay Full Coverage Under-Eye Concealer recently! I forgot how much I loved this formula. It’s lightweight, provides great coverage, and it doesn’t crease. Plus it’s super affordable.

Lime Crime Wet Cherry Lip Gloss
The shade Bitter Cherry in Lime Crime’s Wet Cherry Lipgloss Collection has been getting a lot of airtime on my lips recently! It really is the most perfect MLBB (my lips but better) gloss. A soft brownish nude that’s so natural and so pretty. Love this one!

Tony Moly Watermelon Dew All Over Serum
This was on sale recently at Ulta so I grabbed it up! It works great prior to HA or moisturizer and really keeps skin moist and hydrated!

What are some of your favs for lips, eyes, and face lately?

I agree, it makes me feel better to put on make-up every day, too. Which shade of Makeup Revolution’s Conceal & Hydrate Foundation is the swatch above? What’s you favorite sunscreen product to use with the products in the post? Thanks so much!

I’ve gone back to using rose hip oil to fix the problems created by constant mask wearing. I also keep bottles of tea tree oil everywhere.

Hi Isabella! Enjoy your site. Want to share a tip. When sharpening eye or lip pencils. Turn the sharpener and not the pencil. That is the correct way to do it. You get a better tip and less breakage. When sharpening regular pencils you stick it in the sharpener and the machine does the work. You don’t turn the pencil. I learned that years ago in Estée Lauder school. Most people don’t know that. Just a tip. Thank you.
