5 stars out of 5

I finally got around to trying the Milani Eyeshadow Duo I had hanging out in my “to be reviewed” pile. Sometimes I purchase stuff, put it in a bin for review, but never get around to it! It’s kind of fun to finally get to digging around in that bin because I’ll come across some awesome product I forgot about! That would be the case with this Milani Eyeshadow Duo!

Milani Eyeshadow Duos launched sometime ago and I recall being excited about them but other stuff became more important and I just forgot about them. Milani has them available in six shade selections for around $5 to $6 a shade depending where you purchase them. Each duo features a matte and shimmer eyeshadow. I have one in the shade Hot Couple and now that I’ve tried the formula I feel like going back for more. I miss single eyeshadows like this. Well, it’s not really a single shade but you know what I mean! It’s nice to not have some massive palette with hundreds of shades. Sometimes the basics are cool!

Milani Eyeshadow Duo comes in a basic square compact with a clear lid. Each shade is 0.02 oz in size making for 0.04 oz of eyeshadow. All the duos feature a shimmer shade and a matte shade that can be mixed and matched or worn alone. The eyeshadow is made in Taiwan.

Hot Couple is contains a warmer orange-y terracotta which I’m in love with. It’s one of those perfect Fall shades! I can totally get away wearing this all by itself. The formula is soft, silky and a bit powdery but not dry nor chalky. It applies beautifully! Although powdery I experienced no fall out and the shade has a seamless, smooth finish on my eyelids. The shimmer shade is just as gorgeous. It has a creamy soft texture with a velvety feel that applies best with a finger. It almost has a cream formula and it applies flawlessly without any fall out. I’d go so far as to call it metallic in finish. I thought perhaps it would be more of an topcoat eyeshadow but nope, this is very pigmented and the color is quite pigmented and works well alone or paired up with the matte. Both shades wore well on my drier eyes without fading or creasing.

All in all, Milani Eyeshadow Duos are a fabulous little budget eyeshadow well worth a pick up! I’d rather have a dozen of these beautifully formulated shades versus a mediocre eyeshadow palette with 20 or more shades!

Do try them out!

Where to buy

Walmart Milani Target

Milani Eyeshadow Duo comes housed in a small square compact that holds 0.04 oz of eyeshadow and will set you back $5 to $6. Each of the six shades available in this formula holds a matte and shimmer shade. I experienced absolutely no issues with the application of this eyeshadow or wear. Both the matte and the shimmer shades were both pigmented and performed well with no problems applying or blending. The matte is soft, silky but a bit powdery where as the shimmer had an almost creamy consistency with a velvety feel that applies just as beautifully. The shades can be worn together or separately. They wore well for me without creasing or fading all day without an issues.

Pros

  • Affordable.
  • Pigmented.
  • Beautiful formula that applies well!
  • Wears without creasing or fading.

Cons

  • Limited shade range (only available in six shades).

Nice Job on the look. I think duos are not just quick and easy, but also great training wheels. Waaaay BITD girls would get too many shades in a palette. What ensued was like a Kindergartener being hired to do a drag review. Nothing like being sent home from junior high for eye makeup.

Thank you for posting this review! I know I am late but I was just checking affordable eyeshadow on the target website and ran across this eyeshadow duo. The colors are right up my alley and the swatches look beautiful. It looks like a great little compact to keep in my travel bag!
