Ok, I’ll Admit It I’m Old and the Idea of Three New Avon Haiku Perfumes Excites Me

Haiku Sacred Intense, Haiku Kyoto Flower Intense, and Haiku Intense are three new additions to the Avon Haiku Perfume family that are available for Spring 2021. Haiku launched back in 2000 and I’m not sure how to feel about that. I’ve been using the scent for years now does this make me old? I’m so in denial about being old. I’m just going to sit over here and be forever young. Anyone else who wants that can sit at my lunch table. I have fruit rollups.

Anyway, Haiku goes intense for Spring with two intense versions of the beloved classic scents. The original Haiku and Kyoto Flower are available in a more intense formula. Each has the same notes as the original just with with a stronger formulation. I have to admit when I’ve tried intense versions of scents in the past they do for the most part fail to smell like the original. But I was quite curious to see both of the scents list the same identical notes as the original blends with absolutely nothing added. Maybe Avon successfully created more intense fragrances without changing for the original scent. I’m quite curious to see how these turn out and will be purchasing them.

The newest scent is Haiku Sacred Intense. This is an entirely new fragrance added to the Haiku family with notes of tangerine, rose de mai and driftwood. The driftwood is throwing me but as with the original blend you really never can tell how fresh and clean Haiku smells until you actually try it which makes me suspect that Sacred will just as beautiful as the original fragrance!

The new intense versions have potent ingredients and a longer wear time for lasting wear. Each bottle is $30 each and available now at Avon.

Anyone curious about these?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. At one point, I only wore scents that dated before my birth (1948) so scent-wise, you’re an infant. Your investigations of new ones, like Rituel have been very helpful (not to mention your Best in Show sales info!)

I’m older than you…I wore the original Haiku in the pale seafoam green bottle for ages!!! I loved it… Funny how scents can make you travel back in time. I can recall the scent of almost anyone and anything. (I have a super sniffer.)

        • Isabella Muse

lol! Super sniffer ;-D love that. But yeah, it’s strange how scent evokes memories and feelings!

I just like the pretty coloured bottles. Haiku is such a pretty scent, even if I can’t wear it. But it smells lovely on my mom and sisters. Ahh, such fond memories.

I love the bottles! I’ve never tried Haiku or any Avon perfume after the 70s, but I have a collection of my mother’s Avon scents from the 60s & 70s displayed on my vanity along with my Liddle Kiddle Violet Kologne perfume bottle from my childhood. I may have to try it, cos the bottles are appealing & I am of mixed Japanese ancestry, lol!

    • Isabella Muse

me too! The colors are gorgeous! They’d look great with your collection ;-D

  • Mariele

Is it bad that I want one just for the packaging? Lol, Avon scents tend to be too heavy for me, though. =/

OOOOOOOOOOH!!!! I’m old too and I am dying to hear your review of these! I love Haiku!

I’m desperately trying to continue my denial of how old I am but it isn’t working.

Such good memories of Avon! My sister and I were always so excited when the Avon lady showed up and we went through the catalog with my mom and placed orders. I always thought Avon had the prettiest bottles!

LOL girl I’m in denial on the daily. I’ve really stopped care. I’m a total perpetual child! Forever young ;-D

I really like the bottles! I’ve never tried Avon though because my parents have always been anti MLM and therefore never let me buy anything from Avon or Mary Kay or Arbonne growing up. And now as an adult I am also anti MLM and glad my parents stopped me from purchasing from these companies. So I won’t be buying these, but hopefully you enjoy them!

Avon is not an MLM. Avon North America is a separate company from Avon Products Inc. They split a couple of years ago, with Avon North America handling sales only in North America, Canada and Puerto Rico. They are 2 separated companies. In addition, Avon North America was acquired by LG (yes, the TV people!) which is based out of South Korea, and who own numerous health and beauty products companies (ergo, all the new fabulous, on-trend K-beauty cosmetics) being offered now by Avon. Avon has undergone a gazillion changes in just the last few years and definitely not an MLM.

Totally understand where you are coming from, but just because The Avon Company or Avon North America split with Avon Products, doesn’t mean they aren’t still an MLM. I will admit that out of all the companies I consider MLMs, Avon is the most honest and least predatory one and that’s why I didn’t discourage Muse from buying their products, but just said I wouldn’t buy them myself.

Oxford English Dictionary defines multilevel marketing as: “the practice of selling goods or services on behalf of a company in a system whereby participants receive commission on their sales as well as the sales of any participants they recruit.”

I’m not sure if you thought I was calling Avon a pyramid scheme, which it isn’t because it sells products that have value. But it does employ multilevel marketing. From The Avon Company (Avon North America) website: “There are two ways to earn money as a Representative: by selling products or”through the Sales Leadership program”by selling products while recruiting others. The higher a Representative’s campaign (selling cycle) sales are, the greater the percentage she will earn on those sales. Sales Leaders, Representatives who both sell and recruit, earn money based on their personal sales plus their recruits’ sales, with a similar progressive earnings structure applied.”

I assume you are an Avon representative and I know there are plenty of reps who just sell products and don’t do any recruiting. But the reps that do recruit and the business model are what makes Avon an MLM.

I have all three of these – OMG the bottle are soooo pretty!! My favorite, I THINK, is Haiku Sacred Intense. I haven’t worn all three long enough to decide yet. All I know is that as a representative, I gave a sample to a woman here at the apartment complex I recently moved into and she BOUGHT IT ON THE SPOT! I never wore the original Haiku (I always was under the impression it was too strong – but maybe I’m wrong. I have one customer who buys bottle after bottle of the original Haiku! LOL!) I just never wore the original, but I really like the new Haiku Sacred Intense! Haiku was always a perennial favorite so I think that’s why they decided to these. The only one of the 3 that they have body washes and body cream for is the Haiku Sacred Intense. I wonder why they didn’t do that for the other two. They DO last. The COLORS of the bottles are gorgeous!
