Benefit California Kissin’ ColorBalm Moisturizing Lip Balm ($21) are a new pigmented, moisturizing lip balm that launched in 16 shades. These are formulated with wild mango butter and hyaluronic acid to keep lips hydrated and smooth. Benefit also promises up to eight hours of wear with these.

What did you think when you first saw them?

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters? Yup! Me too! Can you believe it’s been 10 years since they launched them? They should totally bring them back! I bet I can guess everyone’s favorite shade. Ready? PINK TRUFFLE! Totally the base pink brown ever! It was always such a great MLBB (my lips but better) shade for me. I dunno if Benefit’s formula is going to compete with Revlon’s but let’s hope so! Revlon is busy restructuring currently but what they should do is bring these back! I’d buy ’em!

Shades:

  • Boho Chill (spiced red)
  • Dream On (rosewood)
  • Far Out (blackberry)
  • Flower Power (pink rose)
  • Free Spirit (fuchsia)
  • Good Karma (coral)
  • Good Vibes (berry)
  • Make Love (nude pink)
  • Merlot Mama (wine)
  • Outta Sigh (ruby)
  • Party Girl (poppy)
  • Peace Out (pomegranate)
  • Right On (peach pink)
  • Sheer Bliss (pink quartz)
  • Soul Sister (nude rose)
  • Wild Child (cherry)

I know the promo images are looking good. They look very shiny and very pigmented! I have matte exhaustion for realsie and anything that gives me a bit of shine is a welcome change…!

Benefit California Kissin’ ColorBalm Moisturizing Lip Balm are available now at Ulta as well as on Benefit’s website and I’m sure that Sephora will get them shortly as well!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Anyone who knows me knows I am the saltiest person on EARTH about Revlon Lip Butters being discontinued! Lol but $21?! I feel like any comparable formula is ether too expensive or not as good. Lord why!!

Pink Truffle & Peach Parfait were the beat of my heart!!

    • Isabella Muse

Pink Truffle was totallyyyy my deal. I don’t mind the $21 if they are good tbh!

  • Jane

$21? Why does that feel steep for some reason? Probably because you just reminded me that there used to be a perfectly great Revlon for a fraction of that price.

Really pretty colors though. I like whatever she’s wearing in that promo pic (poppy? The spiced red? I dunno.)

    • Isabella Muse

LOL I know right? $21 didn’t seem bad but I thought of how cheap revlon’s were and it’s like damnyummm!

Oh my, I don’t know if I should admit this but I still have/use my Revlon lip butters. I didn’t realize it’s been TEN years since they d/c’d them! They’re still good and Pink Truffle is an unbeatable MLBB shade. They haven’t turned on me yet so I’m hanging on to them. Ugh, speaking of I need to do a cosmetic purge and see what’s shot. Haven’t really worn much besides SPF since the pandemic hit. Masks and makeup don’t mix. Almay came out with lippies awhile back that reminded me of lip butters…even similar packaging. I agree with Joyce that a $21 price tag is too high. Ugh, ten years is a long time, I better check them over!!!

I do too! I don’t use them anymore but I still have shades in my beauty closet. It’s been forever and a day since they disappeared. Truly Pink Truffle was amazing! I just did some Spring cleaning and it felt great donating a bunch of stuff!

So, to help all of us who miss the Revlon Lip Butters like CRAZY on our decisions, how many are you gonna get to test? 😉 I’ve got my eye on the nude pink called Make Love.

The Lip Butters were so wonderful and I only threw away my last one last year. I wish I could’ve revived it but nope, dried out.

LOL all of them? They all look amazing! Make Love is on my list too! So that’ll be there! ;-D

And I also want to say that the packaging (the outer box) is totally giving me late ’60s/early ’70s vibes. Now if I could just find some original 1972 Clairol Herbal Essence shampoo!

          • Isabella Muse

oh my gosh yes, very herbal essence from back in day!

I did a quick search on this and it looks like this was released in some non-US markets last summer – or at the very least product was sent to some influencers who posted reviews and swatches on YouTube. I am an easy sell for stick balm-glosses so I know I’m trying these out.
