Inspiration Isn’t Here Today but She’ll Be Back Soon But There’s Still Time for a Fiery Trip to Mordor Shelob Awaits!

Oh my god I’m struggling so hard today to get some work done. I went to bed early last night, earlier than normal, and it totally fracked with my sleep. I went to bed at 10:30 and and just fell off mighty fast but at around 2-2:30 I was wide awake. I ended up falling back asleep at 3:45ish and my alarm was ringing at 4:45.

Blah….

I’m a sad, uninspired blogger today. I actually have a crumb load of work on my desk to get done for my real job. I’m sort of slowly working through that with a little peppering of procrastination thrown in. There’s some reviews scheduled for later today that I need to upload pics too so expect those shortly.

BUT WAIT….

Let’s discuss that time I suffered the the pits of Mordor for that deodorant I can no longer find….

Story time. I know you love my crazy stories…

I’ve been trying to find Secret Va Va Vanilla Deodorant since the pandemic happened in store and it’s like impossible to find. They actually realized how bad and corny the name “Va Va Vanilla” is so they changed it. It’s now renamed to a very sophisticated “Secret Vanilla”.

Now, this has always been some sort of weird, elusive product. It was always difficult to locate for some odd reason or another. Harmons, CVS, Walgreens…they never carry it around here…! I have however, managed to locate it at the evilest of empires, the Deathstar, Walmart. Possibly one of the few reasons I’ll venture into Walmart is to buy Secret Vanilla Deoderant because it makes my armpits smell like a fluffy cupcake with vanilla frosting. Shrug….the things we do because we like pretty, stupid stuff….!

But every since April of last year it’s became impossible to find in store. Who’s hoarding it away? You’re the same person that grabbed all the Campbell’s Alphabet Soup, toilet paper, and paper towel aren’t you?

I’ve resorted to ordering it online and Walmart’s shipping takes forever and three to four years not counting weekends. I’ve been pretty close to just eating the Shipt’s cost and getting it from Target or paying the shipping from Rite Aide or Walgreens which both carry it…! Sometimes you gotta just pay shipping…!

So, cheers, to being inspired by deodorant today.

    I think the original name went south, because Va Va is usually followed by Jay Jay. Uh, no. I vote for plain vanilla.

    Wow – Walmart’s shipping has always been super fast for me… Lol about the giant spider… I like the one you chose MUCH better!!!

    I haven’t used deodorant in several months… can’t recall exactly where I read this but I use Maximum Strength Stridex pads on mah pits, and I seriously do not stink. And believe me, I can *stink*. Dunno what elfin magic is in those things that keeps me fresh and dainty but by cracky, it works! I can use a pad on my nose, then on my pits and we’re done! Plus there’s a TON of “juice” in the little Stridex jar, so I can buy those thin pads and use them to soak up the excess “juice” and get even more milage out of the Stridex!!

    Please don’t post big scary spider pics… I don’t like spiders. At. All. If they’re outside, fine… If they’re in the house, they’re toast. 🙂 that’s just how it is….

      I dunno Walmart is wishy washy for me! I ordered one of those tabletop blackstone grills as a father’s day and it arrived in a day but I’ll order cleansing supplies or some beauty stuff and it takes 20 years to arrive. I just do target, it arrives quick! It’s just target has a threshold 🙁 Stridex?! Really? That’s new and exciting lol! don’t they make you dry? LOL I hate spiders too! I am very scared of them. I was sitting outside at a BBQ once and a daddy long legs crawled onto my back, I literally tore my shirt off and ran inside in front of a buncha people haha!

        No, they don’t make me dry at all! Apparently they took the alcohol out of them years ago so they aren’t drying even to me!! I’m really kinda amazed how well they work!

        – that’s the size spider I don’t mind… IF it’s outside! 😀 I go apeshi+ if I get a spider on me too – Still kinda lol’ing at the mental image of your ripping your shirt off like the Incredible Hulk and running around shirtless in front of people!

    Welcome to insomnia- sleeping for only a couple of hours and then being awake the rest of the night is basically my life! (And that is *with* Ambien.) And I toss and turn so much I have literally worn holes in my sheets (and these are expensive ones from Bed Bath & Beyond, too! I should bring back the sheets for a refund “these aren’t insomniac-proof!” lol)

      LOL we occasionally have star wars ones on our bed and they are very stimulating! No sleep with those on the bed! In all seriousness, I rarely have problems sleeping which means it always mucks my day up when I’m up tossing and turning! Try a cooling pillow it might help! also, exercise! As for the sheets, for sure return them and get star wars ones to spice up your life LOL!

    Have you tried it yet because they changed the formula as well as the name/packaging. My story – pre-pandemic I was having a hard time finding it and thought it might have been discontinued so I went to their website to confirm; I saw the new packaging as well as a lot of unhappy reviews about a formula change. I searched the internet and finally found some at Rite Aid; they had a photo of the old packaging so I crossed my fingers that it wasn’t a new stock/old photo situation and order several. A friend suggested I try the new one in the meantime so I could look for a replacement if need be when my stash ran out. It surely has changed; it might as well just be deoderant because the antiperspirant effects are practically nil. I get clammy pits within a few hours and unfortunately that reduces the staying power of the deoderant for me. I live in the hot and humid south and I need something to keep me dry and funk free. This has been my HG for so many year so I’m pretty bummed out. All the vanilla products out there are deoderant only and don’t work for me. Why does everything vanilla that I love get changed or discontinued?

    On a different note I have no problem with spiders except widows and recluses because many of them like the golden orb weaver kill the things I hate the most, cockroaches. I don’t mean the little ones that are a PITA to get rid of, I mean the ginormous, airborn, kamikaze ones that you get inside when it rains. Ugh, I just can’t.

    A LOT of companies made cuts to their product lines during the pandemic. Basically, if they had a lot of different options, the bottom half as far as sales go just got cancelled. Coca Cola stopped making Tab and also caffeine free regular (non diet) cola. Patron still makes all their tequila varieties, but their Citronage liquor is now only sold in Orange flavor and the Mango, Pineapple and Lime varieties are nowhere to be found.

    Coke recently started distribution of Caffeine Free Coke again, thank goodness.

    I understand what you mean about Walmart. I try not to go there unless it’s something I can’t get anywhere else.

      Yup! You can see the cuts when you go to the supermarket or department stores! And with inflation the cuts are necessary. Same…! Walmart is ugh…!

    If you get desperate, consider Old Spice DragonBlast is a nice vanilla and sandalwood.

    It’s the benzoyl peroxide in stridex that kills the odor causing bacteria. You can also use a face or body wash with that ingredient and it keeps the stink away. My dermatologist told me about this several years ago when my pits got itchy from deodorant.
