Excuse Me, Mr Louboutin but I Don’t Wanna Buy An Eyeshadow Palette Without a Case It Reminds Me Too Much Of That Time I Brought a Castle Grayskull Play Set Off Ebay

Christian Louboutin Abracadabra La Palette Collection launches into the world of powder products with a gorgeous Abracadabra La Palette Eyeshadow Palette and a Abracadabra La Palette Blush & Highlighter Palette. And guess what? Both are actually very affordable. I mean, for Louboutin that is.

The Christian Louboutin Abracadabra La Palette Eyeshadow Palette is available in three shade selections and each palette contains six shades of color and I actually like them a lot more than I thought I would because I still believe launching a luxury beauty line right is a bit iffy. That being said, the market seems to be upturning so, maybe it’s not THAT bad an idea after all.

There’s also an Abracadabra La Palette Blush & Highlighter Palette which is also available in three shade selections and each palette contains two blushes and one highlighter each. And again, I LIKE this a lot more than I thought I would.

The colors in both the eyeshadow and blush palettes are very vibrant and pretty.

Now price wise, these aren’t bad at all for a luxury brand each one is $78. Impressive for Christian Louboutin.

There’s a catch though.

No case.

Yup, not a single one comes with a case. I mean, if you want you can pop them into a Z-Palette maybe?!? I’m not sure if you can pop the pans out though but perhaps the entire pan will fit easily into a Z-Palette. But really though, serious talk, do you really want to put Christian Louboutin makeup in a Z-Palette?

Good news…

There is a case.

Actually two!

WAHOOO!

You just don’t get them with the purchase of your palette.

I mean, I’d rather they just charge me for the case and the palette and be done with it. This is where things start getting expensive. Abracadabra La Palette Refillable Cases are $78 each! You have a choice of two different palettes of either a red or black studded design. I don’t even like the design but that’s a story for another day.

Total cost: $156 plus tax. Affordable has now reached outrageous. Luxury is luxury and this is luxury so you can’t really complain too much about that price point as it’s priced accordingly.

However, I’d prefer they just set the price at $150 and call it a day rather than selling things separately. I brought a pristine Castle Grayskull off E-bay and ya know, it’s freaking disappointing, even as adult, reading a box that says, “action figures sold separately”. I mean, sure, as adults we obviously know this but remember when you were a kid and really, really wanted some play set you saw on TV and you thought it just CAME with everything? The car, the dolls, the play pieces, ALL THE THINGS…! And your parents would get it for you and the damn thing wasn’t even put together and had none of the stuff they showed on TV.

Dude.

The disappointment is real.

But it’s not the first time we’ve seen luxury brands and even mid-range brands sell cases separately and it won’t be the last time either I’m sure.

I’d have just preferred the palette come together and have a set price.

What do you think?

And hey, if you’re feeling like a sale, there’s a slew of Christian Louboutin Makeup on sale at netaporter.com!

Since it is a launch, you would think you would sell the case along with the palette and make other ones an individual purchase. Have the $140-50 launch price (probably $200 in Canada). Even offer an introductory price for a month.

Wonder if the palettes come in a box or some other plastic covering so the purchaser doesn’t get the hands and product all grubby.

If the line is successful and packaged right, you would just snap in and snap out palettes as you wish. It might cut down on plastic waste a bit. If the case is good quality, it might work. If the line doesn’t sell well and doesn’t expand, you may be stuck with a fancy case to put candy or whatever in.

The women who buy a lot of his shoes (and not the basic ones under $1000 and ones you can find on sale) may not even bat an eyelash at the price.

That makes sense to me. It comes in a red box for storage. I wouldn’t mind doing that! But I’d also sort of me a bit meh on having palettes exposed to the air so I’d be up for maybe having them covered with a clear case when not in use! Oh def not. Fans of CL will adore it no matter the price point!

I will avoid getting political because that isn’t the point of your blog, but luxury makeup has really begun to set poorly with me, and it was Louboutin nail lacquers that did it. It really shouldn’t – it’s literally an unnecessary to survival purchase and it’s available at all price points. But it rankles, somehow.

    Cute blush and highlighter trio.

get political! You’re free to say anything you like here as long as you aren’t calling people names or bullying anyone feel free to express yourself. 🙂 Truth about the nail polishes!

I still never would! Politics is real world and this blog largely exists outside reality for me, in some ways. It’s just that luxury doesn’t mean much anymore. It’s the mass mass mass production, the sheer amount and disposability of so much of it, the complete lack of artistic vision. It all looks like it was made to satisfy some bro CEO’s version of what sells.

Hell, ya. They are sniggering up their collective sleeves, exploiting the 1% income folks who are status driven and gobble Loubou up. I found the polish a cross between the absurd and the ridiculous. Think I’ll paint the bottoms of my Haflinger felt clogs (all I can wear right now) red. This m/u does seem well curated and not as pricey as expected. As to the refillable aspect, sure hope they aren’t thinking they are jumping on the eco-conscious train. In the 50s and 60s, most m/u was refillable, and bags were PAPER. I got so old that ‘nothing new under the sun’ seems to make sense.

      • Jane

I think you should totally do that, but I’d be afraid you’d slip around on the dry paint!

They are called “Abracadabra” Because they make $156 disappear! LOL

Are the cases magnetic? Can they be used like a zpallet; meaning, I use the Louboutin case for other magnetic shadows?
