Is Lipstick Back for You Yet In a Post-Pandemic Life?

The weather is starting to warm up, Summer is here, and there are a lot, A LOT of people outside. The traffic has returned, the restaurants are buzzing, it feels like everyone wants to be seen in New York.

I believe are current numbers are 52% with complete vaccinations and 70% with at least one vaccine. I’m one of the fully vaccinated. Do I feel safer?

Mmmm not really….! It’s going to take me a little time to get there. Is lipstick back for me yet?

Not quite! I never really stopped wearing lipstick in all honesty. Even when I was working from home I slapped it on. Wearing lipstick shouldn’t be something you do just when you go out! You can totally wear it for yourself. I think wearing it for myself sometimes makes me happiest if you can believe that. It makes me feel pretty.

As for wearing it outside, without a mask….that hasn’t returned for me yet. I am in office most days of the week now and I am seeing clients but I always wear a mask during those times. When I’m alone, guess what? I apply lipstick! But when it’s time to slip on a mask I wipe it off as things do get a little messy.

I’m pretty envious of all the people I see outside confidently walking around with gorgeous lipstick on and no mask! I just personally haven’t reached that point in my post-pandemic life. For me, the danger is still very much present especially with the Delta variant so easily transmitted. I don’t want to get sick. I don’t like getting sick! It makes me miserable so even though I’m vaccinated and I know it’ll protect me from god forbid landing in a hospital. I still don’t want to get COVID.

So no, lipstick life has not returned to normal for me.

I still think the pandemic is very much raging around us even though people are treating it like it’s over.

So, I’m the weird responsible one with a mask still on.

How about you?

Have you started wearing lipstick out and about again?

Only during dog walks. Even during the height of the pandemic. The irony being, if you were safely distanced (easy here, would be terrifying in nyc) then no one could see your lipstick.

I totally take my mask off during walks now and wear my lipstick! I figure I’m moving fast enough I can do it! ;-D Haha!

I switches to lip balms, transparent and lightly colored, during pandemic and havent looked back. I have one or two liquid lipsticks that Im trying to finish, but thats it. Ive gotten more comfortable with a more natural look over the year.

    • Isabella Muse

Long-wearing lipstick is actually great under masks I just never get on with it :-/ But all in all, I’m a fan of light balms too!

Not full-time yet, but sometimes, when I don’t need to wear a mask. I miss it terribly!

Ive been fully vaccinated since March and Ive never been scared. Im ready to cut loose and have fun, our state is reopening on Friday with No restrictions!! Lets party! I refuse to let fear dominate my life, that last year has been hell on earth and Im ready to resume a normal life.

I’m like you and still masking even though I am fully vaccinated. My daughter is due any day and there is no way I’m going to take a chance on getting sick! I still wear lipstick however! Am looking forward to the day we can go without masks but that day hasn’t arrived yet.

I live in Florida where we’ve been open for quite a while but even though I’ve been vaccinated, I’ve still worn a mask until just the last week or so. I continued to buy lipstick during the pandemic so it’s fun now to pull out all of those new things and try them.

    • Isabella Muse

I hope I reach that comfort zone where I can just take if off!

Ive been fully vaccinated since January, but I work in healthcare so Im still double masking at work. Well probably be doing this forever so my 40+ lipglosses and lipsticks arent getting much use. I have a Charlotte Tilbury lipstick still in its box, which may stay in its box forever. Its fine. Ive traded lipsticks for hair and skin products.

I totally went through a huge hair phase during lockdown and I’m still very much into it. I’m sure they’ll come out to play again Julie but it may be a while. Thank you So so much for what you are doing! We all appreciate you so much!

Still wear a mask even though FL has been open since pretty much forever and I am fully vaccinated. I just dont understand how people think just because they are vaccinated they cant get COVID. Granted, it will be a milder case (hopefully) but the shots dont keep you from being able to get it and more importantly, maybe transmit it. So until herd immunity is achieved, many of the most vulnerable (people who are unable to get the vaccine for medical reasons) still have to worry about transmissions and everyone not wearing masks is putting them at risk. I cannot wait until we can all go maskless, but I am more concerned about other peoples safety for now. So, lipstick is on when I am on Zoom for work, but not while shopping in a store.

    • Isabella Muse

I do too! Don’t feel bad! I just like having the mask on just in case especially with this variant! Yes, until herd immunity is a god I think my mask will remain on for now ;-D

I live in Greece and many adults have been vaccinated twice, still we have mask on the outside. So no lipstick yet. It’s been said that the Government will allow us not to wear mask on the outside. We are waiting for its final decisions. Let’s see <3

    • Isabella Muse

I think Greece has the right plan! I’m in NY and most have had at least their first shot but the mask situation is getting out of hand now as most everyone is without one. I think they should remain due to the variant but everyone doesn’t seem to as bothered about it as I am 🙁

Im living life completely normally, fully vaxxed since March. Full lipstick, blush, bronzers and no more dirty masks UGH. Im in rural Gulf Coast Florida. The pandemic is over. Live life and wear the damned lipstick. The authorities are never going to let you be free, you just have to grab freedom and take it. Ignore the hand wringing about the delta variant or scariant if youre vaxxed you wont have an illness from this! Its summertime and stop being so fearful! Life is short!

    • Isabella Muse

Good for you! I’m not quite ready yet to get out there without a mask 😀 but one day! 😀
