Staying Up Late Does No Good for My Fine Lines and Puffiness Here’s What Helps

How can you eliminate pesky fine lines and puffiness under your eyes? It’s a lot simpler than you may think!

I wanna rock and roll all night and party every day. Especially the rock and roll all night part! I’m a night owl! I’d totally sleep all day and get up when the sun goes down and stay up until it comes up again if I could. But as an adult I have to do adult things like run my business. What the hell? Who decided that we needed to do mature stuff like this? Grrr!

Fact of the matter is I have an adult schedule even though I want to live like I’m a frat boy. I used to actually stay up quite late and function on about 5 hours sleep. Typically I’d go to bed around 12 AM sometimes 1 and I’d be up at 4:45 to start the day. I can’t do that anymore…! I tend to get in bed by 11 at the latest 11:30 and I’m up at 4:45 (if I’m indulging myself it’ll be 5). If nothing else I realized late nights totally wreck my beauty life. I’m prone to puffy eyes! Is it old age? Gaming? Too much time spent staring at a monitor or my phone? Who knows but I’m the Queen of Puffiness! Thankfully, I have very few fine lines under my eyes but they tend to be a lot more pronounced if I haven’t slept well or slept very little.

The last two or so nights I’ve had difficulty adjusting to sleeping alone again and it’s made me stay up later than I should which means the puffiness is super real at the moment and my fine lines are not really appreciating my lack of sleep!

So, how do you eliminate puffiness and fine lines without spending money?

SLEEP! And water! Stop browsing, stop scrolling, stop stalking your online crushes, stop gaming, stop creating virtual carts on Sephora that contain 1.5 million dollars worth of eyeshadow that you’ll never click submit on…!

Stop.

The method to my madness is pretty simple when it comes to stopping all the things I listed above. Schedule screen time! If you have an Iphone go to settings, go to screen time, turn on screen time, and click continue than tap this is my Iphone and tap downtime to turn it on. Not select a time to turn on screen time and turn it off. Screen time will basically put your phone in sleep mode and restrict you from using apps or other services. I mean, there’s a work around where you can click to allow you 15 more minutes of scroll time on Tiktok or 15 more minutes of playing Fives Nights at Freddy’s but screen time comes in pretty handy to tell you when it’s time to put your phone down and just to go to bed. I try to set mine for 10:30 PM and I leave it on until 7:30AM (certain days I’ll leave it on until 9AM).

Since I went to bed pretty late the last two nights my eyes are paying the price. I know if I go to bed early my eyes always look so much better. Fine lines are softer and puffiness is simply not as bad as it would be if I stayed up until 1 AM.

They call it beauty sleep for a reason. Your skin will just look better if you aren’t tired. And guess what? It didn’t cost you a dime.

Puffiness can also be eliminated easily enough with cold as well. I take large cotton rounds and saturate them with water. I lay them flat in a bag and place them in my freezer. I’ll place them under my eyes or even over them in the morning to ease puffiness.

This is going to be a really unpopular method but…gulp…stop sleeping on your tummy! I am forever always a tummy sleeper but oh lord it does bad things to my eyes. If you sleep with someone it helps if you end up playing the big spoon or the little spoon. As the little spoon you can’t really sleep on your stomach, you’ll be locked into the position by the person behind you. My boyfriend is an octopus so his legs, arms and everything else is all over me in sleep. He’s also a side sleeper which forces me into the same position when he decides to throw his arms and legs all over me. If he turns, I’ll turn with him and become the big spoon. This is actually a position I like better as I can sort of get the same feeling as sleeping on my stomach by burying my face in his back. I think I crave the burying my head in a pillow versus the tummy position if that makes sense. I just like to have my face stuffed into something when I sleep and his back serves that purpose but thankfully doesn’t seem to do the damage of a pillow as I never wake up with puffiness after sleeping that way versus sleeping with my face completely stuffed into my pillow.

If sleep doesn’t help go HYDRATE! Drink your water. Water helps a lot especially if you suffer from sunken in eye issues. It’ll act as a natural filler! Again, doesn’t cost a dime 🙂

How do you eliminate puffy, tired, finely lined eyes naturally without the use of eye creams, lotions, or potions?

Aww, is he back in Cali already for work?

Gasp! A tummy sleeper? I can’t even imagine! How do you breathe with a pillow in your face? I am a back sleeper, unless I’m really cold, and then I curl up in a little ball, but then I try not to do that because it’ll sag my skin on one side. LOL!

You know, from a health perspective, at least according to traditional Chinese medicine, going to bed early by 11:00 if you can is a lot healthier than going to bed after 12 and sleeping the same amount of hours. The quality of sleep is much higher if you sleep earlier. And I do admit that I see a difference. I have some health issues that have gotten a lot better ever since trying to be in bed by 11:00-11:30 at the absolute latest. My mood is better, yy complexion is brighter, my hair is fuller, and I don’t have constant flare up of my IBS. I believe you when you said fine lines and puffiness diminishes when you go to bed early! My problem is knowing when to stop watching my dramas. Haha!

He’s back with you please take care of him for me haha 🙂 It’s about a month, he might be back mid June for a weekend so, not horrible. I’m just a whining clinger lately. LOL omg why are we so freakish about anti-aging sleep!? LOL! I TRY so hard to sleep on my side but I’m a tummy girl. Stuffing my head into the pillow is my jam. 😀 I 100% agree. My skin always looks better and I just feel better when I keep to a go sleep schedule and my eyes def LOOK much better. I’m in by 11 and up at 4:45 daily. I don’t like to deviate from it too much because it sort of messes with my internal clock…for example, I slept until 5AM the other day and suddenly my internal clock is like OOO NEW time let’s always wake up at 5! So, I do like to try to make sure I do the same time every single day. HAAAAAAAAA well, really, though dramas are the exception right? I’m watching a new lakorn and I’m hooked and just want to race through it.

My glucosamine/chondroitin supplement. It has gulucosamine, chondroitin, calcium, collagen, hyaluronic acid and vitamin c, d, e. And a mulitvitamin/multimineral supplement.

Hyaluronic acid seems to work better as drink than as a topical on the skin.
