A Love List About Being Yourself, Eating More Pork Rinds, And Nordy’s Anni Sale

Well hello there!

How’s everyone doing today?

The Nordstrom Anniversary Sale Preview went live today. Excited? I see a few things I want but the sale simply isn’t what it used to be. I feel very validated when I say that because many of you agree but also, a lot of the sales reps that I regularly use constantly say the same thing. It’s just not as grand as it once was. I remember when the sale used to have really cool gift sets not to mention early Fall launches. Not to mention an entire MAC Color Story! It’s not really that great anymore….! But I think one of the better things to come out of the sale lately is the fact it’s actually a SALE! You can snag a lot of good deals on luxury goods where as years ago nothing was technically on sale. There’s an upside and positive thing about the sale.

Do you see anything you want from the sale?

Dude…dude…dude…those plant-based pork rinds from Trader Joe’s are the bomb dot com. Serious question, do the kids still say bomb dot com or should I start saying bussin’? Haha…! All seriousness, we eat so much weird plant-based food in this house I told my boyfriend we’re going to start sprouting leaves. I’m not a big fan but Mr Universe aka the boyfriend is all about the healthy foodies and snackies. I purchased those Pig Out Pork Rinds months ago and ugh! They are sitting in the pantry dying a long and horrible expiration death. We didn’t like them at all. I was at Trader Joe’s recently and I saw their new Spicy Porkless Plant Based Snack Rinds and I was like ok, let me try these because Tiktok told me I need them. I wasn’t going to buy them to be honest but the Internet makes me do dumb things. I hauled a bag and I ate one piece and instantly disliked it. It wasn’t spicy but more vinegar-like. But after that I took another and another turned into another and one more and before you know it I think I ate the bag in like two days…!

Oops!

I am so sorry.

Not really…

They are odd. They sort of remind me of the Trader Joe’s Lentil Chips but have the consistency of a real pork rind. After eating several handfuls I realized why I liked them! They kind of sort of remind me of eating a spicy and pickled onion Monster Munch together at the same time.

Honestly, no one is going to thank me for making me buy them as I think most people won’t like them. My boyfriend was revolted by them! But I’m all about them.

I need validation. Are these as good as I think they are or was I just really hungry when I ate them!

You know what….let’s dedicate a little of today’s love list to being yourself. I was talking to one of the greatest friends I’ve had the pleasure of getting to know on the Internet. Say what you want but Internet friends are just as amazing as real ones and this girl…she’s chefs kiss! I love her to the moon and back. Anyway, we got on an important topic of being yourself. Don’t ask how we got there because I dunno if it’s important but the moral of this story is be yourself and don’t apologize for being yourself. Lately, I’ve had this odd feeling I needed to rein in my silly good nature. Somehow, someway, I think I thought I was offending certain people with my dorkiness and my silliness. And I hated that for myself. I hated to think that I was somehow crossing some line without knowing where the line was drawn. And suddenly, I found that I was sorry about just being me. And that’s not a good feeling. I guess what I’m trying to say is don’t make excuses or apologies for being yourself. You’re awesome just the way you are. Don’t let your mind and your heart convince you otherwise. And if you come across people that might make you feel this way just breath, take a step back from them, and look at the situation a little closer. I know if you do you’ll see that you’re a good human and you’re pretty darn brilliant just the way you are!

Have a good day over there.

Be the good humans I always know you are.

Be you.

And don’t apology for it!

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Only glanced at the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale preview. No idea what the Canadian version will be like. Not likely to travel anywhere any time soon with borders being closed.

I got to go to a couple of conferences at the time when the Anniversary Sale happened. It was eye opening. And overwhelming. Things that cost double in Canada. Better than our Bay Days twice yearly sale. Would usually get a great GWP with makeup. Bought some jeans, some shoes, Spanx, Hanky Panky underwear. The past couple of years have been a bit disappointing. The Canadian sale is smaller. Many things are sold out early. Waiting til July 19th til the sale shows up here.

The big food thing here is spicy dill pickle potato chips. And the hunt for cotton candy grapes.

I lost so much of me at my previous job. I became quiet and angry and unable to fit in with some of the coworkers. Their judgment was mind boggling, I barely recognized myself and hated the person I was forced to become. I didnt fit in with these folks and felt like the Ugly Duckling. A few did see the real me and liked the person. Glad to be gone.

i really miss getting an anniversary catelogue. it made it so easy to see new products and put outfits together. i simply do not have the time to scroll through thousands of items on the website. i did buy a few random things last year that were highlighted from other websites. and muse you did get me to buy a cute pair of earrings ha ha.

I’m excited for the sale this year (even though last year was a complete bust). I received a mini catalog but I miss the real catalog they used to send out.

For loves this week I will say pain killers since my ears have been hurting and I’ve had a bit of a sinus headache. Fingers crossed I’m not getting sick but everyone in the office has been sneezing and coughing (maybe pollen?).

I got the mini too! It didn’t have much info sadly! Could be pollen! A lot of my friends have been complaining! Oddly, the index shows nothing but seems like people are suffering! Feel better!

Muse, I can’t speak for others, but the reason I read this blog is because you are a real person who shares her real, non-curated feelings. You’re totally authentic, and I love it!
You’ve got to be you, because to be anyone or anything else is just false.
If you were to make this blog about what the mysterious “public” wants, it will be completely watered down and generic. If any people try to force you to be a certain way, then they should start their own blog and put forth those ideas themselves, because that is their opinion, not yours. You are you! You have your own ideas, you are entitled to them and I read because I want YOUR take on things. I don’t always agree with everyone else (or even you-sorry!), but I like to hear what they/you have to say, because it might enlighten me, and it certainly gives me more information to make my decisions with. That’s what makes life interesting and enriching!
Please don’t hide your wonderful personality, because you are a delight!
(…and this is MY opinion, lol)

I should have prefaced my prior comment with: I n short, exactly what you and your friend said. Yes! But I wanted you to know that your readers think the same!
