Dear Bath and Body Works How Did You Get My Best Friend To Pay Full Price for a Candle?

Come on in guys let’s all sit around and talk candles. Bath and Body Works Fall 2021 hit White Barn this weekend and I admit I went in and walked around the store inspecting them! I just really wanted to wander around like a weirdo sniffing them like to get a little Fall serotonin high but COVID has made me scared to put my nose near any surface that’s been touched by ten thousand people. I went into Lush with my sister last week and I was simply aghast they still had chunks of soap laying around. I shuddered in fear and anxiety as people were touching them and putting them back down. Ugh the gross factor. You see, I rarely purchase anything that’s left open at Lush. It really squeaks me out that so many people touch bath bombs, smell them, and put them down. It’s just gross to me. I tend to buy my Lush online because of this. But with COVID I’m even more of a freak about it.

So, yeah, watching a bunch of people sniffing the lids of the candles and putting them back on had me mildly panicked.

That being said, my inner basic bitch loves that there’s so much Fall everything rolling into stores. It really hit early this year as typically Bath and Body Works used to wait until August to roll out Fall and Halloween but many people are already starting to see new floor sets in stores especially at Test Store Locations.

I managed to spritz some of the new Pumpkin Pecan Waffles Fragrance Mist onto a card and sniff it. It’s a spot on dupe for the candle. I don’t LOVE the candle to be honest but I’m digging this in a fragrance mist. It smells delicious. I snagged up at a B3G3 that was available on site this past weekend (which I think is still on).

Anyway….

Serious question, did you ever fall so deeply in love with a Bath and Body Works Candle that you paid full price for it?!?!?!

I’ve never done this even when they were like $20 each way back in the day. Not once have I ever snagged one at full price in all my time purchasing them. I just always felt like $20 was too much and now at over $25 it’s even worst. I always wait for a 2 for $25 deal or $10 off etc….! But never have I paid full price! Even for ones I really love.

Have you?

My best friend texted me this morning and said, “The Iced Dragonfruit Candle is amazing and I just paid full price for it!” to which I replied, “Really!?” and there was a “IZZY!” That’s when I know things are going to be serious….haha… “It is worth it!”

Now I have to smell this candle for myself and see why it’s worth $25.50! Haha!

What about you?

Ever paid full price for a candle?

Do share!

Nah…not in at least three years. They are too overpriced now to not wait for a sale or coupon.

I’ll pay full price for other brands but not B&BW.

    • Isabella Muse

Same! Like I don’t even think to drop change at anthropologie for a candle but BBW I’m like naaa wait for a sale!

  • Laurie

There’s a long thread on Reddit today about the poor throw of the Fall candles at B&BW right now. Practically nonexistant, they’re saying.

I buy full-price candles (not B&BW because I’ve had chronic shipping issues with them). I like Kringle Candles and don’t have time to mess around waiting for coupons or fighting for a couple of bucks off.

It’s one of the pleasures of being old, retired and rich.

    • Isabella Muse

Doesn’t surprise me because all the ones I got from the Spring launch were awful! Really no throw at all! Very weak! Haha….! Old retired and rich! I love it. Honestly, I don’t mind paying full price for other candles but I cringe at paying full price for BBW ones!

OH GOD THAT JUST RUINED MY YEAR! LOL! We already pretty much knew this but reading it in print is terrifying lol!

    • kjh

Oy vey Jesus! I knew most of this, but HSV? Hell, its inadvisable to let the stuff near your ARM, much less your face.

I have never paid full price for a BBW candle and Ive been buying them since the aughts. I went into BBW to pick up my first buy online pick up in store purchase and I looked around, but didnt smell any candles for the same reason as you. I was hoping to see some Halloween candles out early, but they werent out yet. I am looking forward to Pumpkin Carving as a Halloween candle, which was out many years ago and is back.

    • Isabella Muse

I still have pumpkin carving if you can believe it. Haha! Now I can burn it finally without fear it won’t return!

  • Kelly

Never. I wait for sales, then hoard the scents I like. However, I’ve been known to pay ridiculous prices on eBay for retired scents. I figure it evens out.

i’m sure in the past i have paid full price but now with all the sales and coupons and buying in bulk i rarely have the urgency to HAVE to have something. thank u for the heads up as usual! have added pumpkin marshmallow body wash to my cart! i love that smell! the body lotion is divine and i’m not sure i knew they made a body wash for it so i’m stoked for that. i also added pumpkin donut candle to my cart. won’t pay full price tho:)

    • Isabella Muse

it’s a good thing to not have that urgent need fomo feeling! ;-D Yay! Enjoy!

I have in the past. I got my mom a Lillac one for Mother’s Day. Smelling was hard with a mask on but it turned out lovely.

I used to buy mine when I had the survey coupon code but they did away with that ages ago. 🙁 🙁 🙁

I tend to get my candles that first Saturday in December when they were massively on sale. I skipped last December because of Covid.

Their candles are expensive and if I have a problem, I return it. I think I have only ever returned one or maybe two.

    • Isabella Muse

Oh yes omg the survey coupon! How did I forget that? 😀 I tend to wait for Candle Day to haul hard too but when they have a 2 for sale I go for it 😀

  • Jane E Karr

Yes, I have purchased the Apple Pie candle several times at full price. I also purchased the candles that featured hedgehogs, several years back, at full price. And I would do it again if I had to.

  • Tera

I never pay full price for their candles because there is always a sale, so I just wait. Haha. Also, last few candles I ordered in June had little to no throw! Definitely not worth $25.50.

    • Isabella Muse

I feel you! I did a spring haul and none of them had good throw!

      • Tera

It is very disappointing. I ordered a few candles from Goose Creek. Tuscan Vineyard smells amazing and it was a 3 wick for $10. I will be doing more shopping with them instead of BBW.

  • Rose

I have to admit… yes. But if I were to live in the US I probably wouldn’t. Here in Europe the candles retail for $33 and there’s very few scents. So if I’m in the US and there doesn’t happen to be a sale I stock up anyway. I’m so jealous of all the BBW possibilities you have 😀 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

awww 🙁 I sometimes forget how much higher it is in Europe we are very spoiled here!

  • kel b.

i just stocked up on some fall items and wanted to get some more coconut cream pie stuff and they have totally taken that whole line off the site! even the wallflowers:(
