How do you apply Tarte Shape Tape Concealer? Good question! I’m often asked this question because many of you know I have drier, finely lined eyes and the original Tarte Shape Tape Concealer is a matte finish which isn’t exactly ideal for aging eyes, drier ones, or anyone with finer lines. Shape Tape can be challenging. It’s a formula that some folks find tricky. I’ve been using since the very day it launched and have been a fan every since and the I think at this point I have the application down to a science. I have a lot of different concealers I love but most days you’ll find me applying Shape Tape!
Here’s how I do it.
Hydration! Hydration! Hydration! That’s the key here. I start with an eye serum that’s slightly tacky. My favorites are Clinique Moisture Surge Eye 96-Hour Hydro Filler Concentrate, Good Molecules Yerba Mate Wake Up Eye Gel, or the wonderful ELENSILIA CPP Collagen 80 Timeless Eye Cream (this is an eye cream but the gel texture makes a great base for a more traditional eye cream).
If a serum or gel prior to eye cream isn’t something you’re keen on you can also use a tiny drop of facial oil under each eye, pat into place, and apply your eye cream straight away! This packs a lot of moisture very quickly and easily.
Let your serum or gel absorb as you do your hair or any other beauty routines.
After a few minutes follow up with a good, moisturizing eye cream! Be generous! I apply and smooth under each but I don’t pat it completely under my eye. You wanna smooth it with your finger tip so the area under your eye is a bit dewy to the touch. My personally favorites for super hydration are Heimish Marine Care Eye Cream (New customers can use NEWHERB20 for 20% at iHerb should you wish to buy it), Youth to the People Dream Eye Cream with Vitamin C and Ceramides, or Versed Emergency Eye Mask! Goodal Moisture Barrier Eye Cream is also incredible for drier eyes and makes a great base for Shape Tape!
After that I go in with a generous layer of Shape Tape and I pat into place with my fingers! I set with a little Hard Candy Sheer Envy Banana Powder and it looks smooth and perfect all damn day!
