I Took On 10 New Accounts at Work This Month And It’s Kicking My Butt Here’s 4 Products I Use To Keep Myself Looking Bright, Fresh, and Awake

Wakey wakey friends!

I hope you’re doing well over there. That your work week was productive, that you had plenty of time for play, that you were treated well and your treated others just as well, and that you were the good humans I know you are!

I’m not a morning person at all but I push myself to get an early start to my day. Every morning I’m up at 4:45AM to get my day going! I get my workout in, my morning meditation, I start taking pics for the blog and writing articles, and prepare for the day ahead. At exactly 8:00 every day I start my real workday (no, I don’t blog full time).

If it were up to me I’d rock n’ roll all night and party my way through sleeping in the day. I hate mornings with a passion. I’m built for the night but in my adult version of the world, I have to be up early and get my day going. One thing I love about being on the West Coast is the fact that the days seem so much longer! My biggest complaint about being an East Coast dweller is that the time goes by so fast and it feels like there are simply not enough hours in the day to get everything done. Not the case here on the West Coast! I feel like I have hours and hours to get what I want to be done and still have hours and hours left over. It’s a novelty but it also means I don’t always look my best.

Me getting up at 4:30 AM here means that it’s 1:30 AM back home. Yeah, not fun. Basically, my body is telling me, “Hey! You should be sleeping!” I’ve been trying to get a video chat in with a wonderful, incredible online friend (see her pic below) that lives in Denmark (She’s an actress, one of her films is on Amazon! Go watch it! I wish you know her because if you did you’d be amazed at her transformation in the film!). We get into the discussions about life, the universe, and how maybe 42 isn’t the answer after all (Haha..I know I piss all my fellow geeks off when I say that! I got nice hate e-mails about it! I promise, I don’t believe that! 42 REALLY is the answer!). In all seriousness, she’s one of those people you connect with and all the superficial BS of the platform you met up on goes away for a moment, it’s background noise, and what really comes through are the discussions you have sharing feelings with one another. Anyway! I think it would be far easier for her if I just stayed up until 1AM or something to do the call and my mind is fine with that as I’m still living that East Coast time zone over here but I know in the morning my body and face won’t thank me. I stayed up a bit last night to catch a little bit of a Live a creator did on Instagram but man, I’m obviously old because decided the best thing for my body and my mind was to go to bed so I wasn’t looking like a zombie this morning.

This month was a good month for work. I took on ten rather big corporate accounts and yeah, it’s kicking my butt but I love a challenge and I never shy away from hard work. It does mean the blog has been suffering a little content-wise lately but I’m def powering through things over here. It’s a lot to take on for someone who is self-employed with a smaller workforce but I LOVE the hard work and I know I’ll do great by these accounts. I’m sorry if that comes across as vain but the one place I know I excel at is work.

So, kicking my butt at work also means I look run down lately. Puffy eyes, puffy face, a bit pale, and day I say haggard? I’m simply amazed that my boyfriend can wash his hair, face, and body with a bar of Irish Spring soap and proceed to look like a 19-year-old but I have to apply 25 different lotions and potions to look half as good.

This is not fair.

I don’t like it.

Who do I complain to?

But Here’s How I keep myself looking bright, fresh, and awake when I feel like I’m looking tired AF.

Puffy Eyes
Oh, you awful, terrible things! One thing about having eyes as big as mine is that puffiness is a problem. In the morning when I first wake up I could probably take a trip around the world in 80 days with this baggage. I’m convinced Yerba Mate Wake Up Eye Gel helps. I leave it in my skin fridge so it’s nice and cool! It’s a lightweight gel I typically apply before my eye cream. I used to love the eye serum Good Molecules Wake Up Eye Serum but I think they simply replaced it with the eye gel. I admit I did prefer the eye serum but the gel is lovely as well. I could be delusional but I’m convinced this helps with my puffiness so much! After it sets I apply Tarte Wink of H?O Vegan Collagen Eye Cream which I’m equally convinced does wonders on puffiness not to mention it’s really hydrating! These are my two buddies in the AM and the first thing that touches under my eyes. Of course, of COURSE, my bestest friend on the planet is Tarte Shape Tape Concealer. I have yet to find a concealer that is as pigmented and as long-wearing as Shape Tape. It pretty much wipes the tired right out from under my eyes and makes me look awake, bright, fresh, and like I had 12 hours of sleep!

Firming Up Your Face
I hate admitting this but you know I tell you guys everything but here goes! I look puffy in the morning when I’m tired. I don’t mean my under eyes just my entire face kind of looks puffy and less than firm. It sort of reminds me of a child that cried too hard, went down for a nap, and woke up all puffy. That’s me! I use a lot of lotions and potions to get myself looking much better in the AM but the very best thing I can do for my face is splashing very cold water on my face as soon as I wake up in the morning and I do again after I get out of the shower. On the daily, I mourn J.One Jelly Pack Firming Skin Primer. It was my best friend. It was discontinued sadly! It made my face look so much smoother and less droopy-looking when I was tired. I replaced it with E.L.F. Jelly Pop Primer and I swear this stuff just makes my skin look so much smoother and plumped up. I was so sad when it disappeared after its initial Summer launch back in 2019 but it seems permanent now and I stocked up as soon as the relaunch happened! Believe me, if you have issues with your skin looking puffy, tired, and less than firm try this under your foundation.

Brighter Skin Makes You Look More Awake and Healthier
Brighter skin is best achieved using great skincare but sometimes we all need a little push in the morning to look brighter and more awake. One of my absolute favorite foundations that I’ve been using without fail for a long time now is Makeup Revolution Conceal & Hydrate Foundation. I love this stuff. It’s light, creamy, and provides the perfect canvas for my makeup but most importantly it makes my skin look bright and healthy! If you look at my recent Tiktok I did I’m wearing it and I think it makes my skin look so natural and beautiful!

I’d love it if you shared some of the ways you keep your face and skin looking beautiful and awake when you’re feeling a bit tired!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Muse, what DO you do for work? I have always wondered 🙂 I work at a high school, in special education.

    • Isabella Muse

Beka that’s wonderful! That’s an incredible job and I want you to know I appreciate you! Teachers work really hard but when you’re working special ed it can be even more challenging! Good on you! That’s incredible 🙂 I’m a broker, I underwrite corp accounts but I’ve taken on finance and investment the past few years as well!

Wowie zowie, jhs/shs sped and slp. The lockdown must have been intensely awful. Esp EI with the wee ones, folks on the spectrum with major self-regulation issues, the family service agencies trying reunification w/supervised visits, etc. I read about an in-person meeting at which the child did not process that his mum was in the room and kept waving at the monitor. I wept. Thanks for all you do and will do in your career. Its tough enough without making it virtual.

The visuals in this post made me laugh and that’s a good way to start the day! I will definitely try the products you mentioned here because these are issue I have and eye puffiness has become a nightmare lately.

I have started using gua sha stones and jade rollers in the morning and I do see a benefit to that. I keep the roller in the fridge and that helps some with the puffiness.

I left something out! It’s rare I actually use a product completely up for under my eyes because I just haven’t found a product that I love. I have been using FAB Eye Duty Triple Remedy A>M Gel Cream and am now on my second bottle. It’s amazing and very hydrating. I also purchased the Elizabeth Arden Ceramide Eye Capsules you recommended awhile back and just got a second jar of them. Those are for night time but they do make a difference come morning.

      • Isabella Muse

Yay! I’m so glad you at least found two products that work! I love those eye capsules! Very hydrating 🙂 It’s difficult with puffiness because there’s no easy cure for puffy eyes but hydration is the key to looking more wide awake imho!

    • Isabella Muse

It was the 42 visual, wasn’t it? LOL! You guyssss lurve my HHGTG references dontcha? “Hi, I’m bella, I am a complete dorky nerd and I take my towel everywhere I go!” Ha! I use gua sha too and a roller but typically I do it in the evening when I have more time. I’m glad I made you laugh! That’s my aim here!

Making sure to raise my son up properly, we read Hitchhikers Guide to him as a bedtime story. Also, the entire Wizard of Oz, Alice in Wonderland, Narnia, Harry Potter, and Lord of the Rings series. He is now 16 and loves reading non fiction, mostly biographies. Not too sure what happened, but at least he reads.

I am actually lucky that I dont have too much puffiness (many other issues, just not this one), but if my allergies are bugging me, I will use a cold spoon on my eyes and Shape Tape to cover the darkness.

    • Isabella Muse

I approve of this mom message! Haha! seriously, I think that’s wonderful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I’d totally be reading my kids all that as well if I had any 🙂 Hey, reading in any way, shape or form is brilliant 🙂 I sleep on my tummy so lots of puffiness due to that 🙁 a cold spoon does work wonders!

      • Catherine

I used to be a tummy sleeper, but somehow in my late 30s morphed into a side sleeper and most of my puffy issues seemed to resolve. Now if there was just a way to solve all my other beauty issues as easily.

And btw, congratulations on the 10 new accounts! That is an amazing accomplishment, but a lot work. I used to work as an in house attorney for a major insurance company doing coverage defense and would coordinate with brokers every once in a while, so I know how hard you work. Be sure that you are taking time for yourself!

        • Isabella Muse

seriously, I force myself to do it because it really does help! Thank YOU SO MUCH! 6 of them are investment accounts and 4 are insurance. It’s a lot of work but I’m excited to put in 100%! and wow being an in house attorney dealing with insurance can be crazy stressful! I have two friends that work in house for major commercial companies and they come home with some major migraines! Thank you, Catherine! I promise to do that 🙂 I appreciate your encouragement!

  • kjh

Congratulations on the new accts! Now you officially work 100 hours a week, plus the blog! Ryan Reynolds meme about that fsure.

    • Isabella Muse

Do we need to bring Ryan into this!? LOL! 🙂 Thank you very much! Naa not 100 hours a week! I’m on my way to Disney right no with the BF so see? I know how to have fun too! Hehehe!

      • kjh

The mask better be glued around the edges. Idk how long youre out on the best coast, but Henri did nothing, and Ida is coming.by ?Mon AM for NYC. Its likely making landfall in NO/LA as a category 4 and Katrina was only a 3. Even though the infrastructure has been beefed up, MardiGrasLand is going to take a bad hit. Red Cross donation time.

  • Sarah

I watches Victim of Love recently! You know her?! Thats cool! That film was trippy!

    • Isabella Muse

wow Sarah I have to tell her that. She always get excited when she hears someone seen the film! It was an interesting film! I haven’t met her but we are online friends 🙂 Hopefully one day we finally will meet 🙂

  • Greta

Musey, I know about you moving into investment because I dmed you on instagram about a crypto a few months ago. You gave me some excellent advice and Im so happy you are taking on more accounts because you obviously know your business well! I speak from experience 🙂 thank you for your wonderful advice

  • Moi

Thanks as always Isabella for your thoughtful and helpful blogs.
I always take away something and note it in my phone Notes for when I’m out shopping, to look for!
You’re goals for waking up every morning at 4:45. What time do you go to sleep in order to be able to do that????
    Hugs from Canada.

    Hi Isabella,
What made you decide to come West?
Major congratulations on your accounts. That’s fantastic.

    • Isabella Muse

bf is here 🙂 We needed some time 🙂 plus he’s coming home for the Fall so decided to spend last few weeks of Summer with him! Thank you SO much! I appreciate that!

  • Jackie

Since you’ve been an influencer before the word was invented, I’d read this and was curious about the Makeup Revolution foundation, so I bought it. It’s inexpensive and I’ve liked some of the things in that brand. I just received it, wearing it today & have to say it’s awesome. It’s lightweight but covers, doesn’t go into my fine lines at all, & blends perfectly!! I’m glad I sought it out!!

    • Isabella Muse

fantastic Jackie 🙂 so glad you love it! It’s a fav of mine! 🙂 and thank you it’s flattering to be called an influencer 🙂
