Holiday 2021 Makeup Collections Are Late and I’m Not Crying About It

Holiday 2021 Makeup Collections are late. I mean, they are LATE late. By early July they’ll typically be a lot of different press events featuring Holiday 2021 launches. Both Too Faced and Tarte are notorious for launching their Holiday Collections very, very early. It sucks because by November it all goes on sale and we’re all tired of the Holidays before they even started not to mention we’re already taking the second star to the right and straight on till morning for Spring releases before Christmas even arrives.

That’s just how makeup collections work lately. It’s too much, too fast. I remember when you had to wait for Holiday Collections until mid October or sometimes the end of. One year I was stalking Saks so hard for a Givenchy Holiday launch and the week before Halloween it arrived. But nowadays we get Holiday releases as soon as July.

I’m not a fan of the panoramic and I really would like get back to normal life soon but I’m thankful that it actually slowed things down for us a little. COVID isn’t anything to joke about nor taken lightly but the one good thing that came from it is that it made things a little slower, we seem to take a little more time with things lately, and I actually enjoy that especially as someone who comes from New York and is always running, racing, and trying so hard to do everything.

It’s not only makeup though it seems like everything has slowed down. My friend texted me a few days ago and said, “Izzy, Michaels says they won’t have Halloween decor up for at least three more weeks…” Well, wow, isn’t that nice? I mean, I LOVE Halloween! My cold dead heart craves the macabre of it all! As far as I’m concerned August is already Fall and I start hauling out the Fall decor as soon as September hits and Halloween soon after. It’s unheard of for places like Michaels to get Halloween decor so late. Typically they’d have it at the start of July!

As much as I love Halloween I dunno if I mind so much that it isn’t force fed to me so early. I mean, yeah, I probably do mind a little but why are we rushing life away so much?

The lack of Holiday 2021 Makeup Collections this year isn’t making me cry at all! I like it. I like taking it a little slower. Maybe if they release a little early they won’t go on sale as quickly and make us all feel bad we spent full price on them. Maybe we’ll have more time enjoy and wear them. Maybe we’ll have the time to be selective about what we want and think about it before we jump into it.

Going back to a slower time isn’t such a bad thing is it?

100% agree Muse. I dont want to think about the holidays when Im trying to enjoy summer. Slowing things down has been an unexpected silver lining (I hesitate to call it that but I dont know how else to describe it) of the pandemic. I did see Halloween candy in the supermarket yesterday and I was like no, no, no, too soon.

    • Isabella Muse

Same here. I dunno what to or how to say it either but some good came from COVID and maybe we shouldn’t feel guilty feeling that way! Why shouldn’t we have something good come from so much sadness! I did too! I saw some at Sam’s Club and was like ew it’s going to be stale before Halloween comes haha!

Maybe Michael’s isn’t stocking where your friend lives, but it is ON here in Boston. JoAnn Fabrics, too. I hear you on the slower pace *except* for Halloween – bring it on!

    • Isabella Muse

REALLY? Joann yes, HL yes too, home goods for sure, but Michael’s is slow going so far. TRUTH! I agree! Bring it!

I’m old-fashioned and am all for only “back to school” promos until Labor Day or a week or so after. Then Halloween stuff. Thanksgiving for the month of November, and then Christmas and other winter holidays after that.

Seems to be a small backlash to the super-early releases of years past. Too Faced is still trying to unload LAST year’s Holiday items. Yeah no, like I want a palette that’s already over a year old.

    • Isabella Muse

I feel good about that too lately Susan. Why are we rushing things so much? We get Spring Collections in December because brands want to snag Holiday spending versus releasing it later in the Spring when become are less likely to spend. It’s insanity. Yup! They sure are!

I’m right there with you!! July is WAAAAY too early for anything holiday or even cool weather related!!! we don’t need it 6 months ahead of time!!

tho I gotta admit, i did buy some candy corn and mellowcreme pumpkins yesterday… (hangs head in shame) But that’s not like Christmas candy coming out now!! Or holiday makeup collex!!! that’s *totally* different!! (that’s my story and I’m stickin’ to it….)

    • Isabella Muse

LOL! Makes sense to me Kim! I’d totally go for the mellowcreme pumpkins right now! I think I’m ok this year with things going slower! It feels nice somehow!

  • Agona

I actually feel like theres too many releases lately. I just ordered ColourPop new ice cream quads, TF new quads and Dior new quints. SGs new palettes during their July sale. I wish theyd slow down more!!

    • Isabella Muse

I feel like it’s a bit slower than normal to be honest but maybe I’m slower lol!

  • Nydia Alicea

Marshall’s in Puerto Rico has everything Halloween out since last week!

  • Dee

Halloween is all over the place out here! It doesn’t bother me as I am always SO ready for Fall! I pull out my fall decor after Labor Day, which is ridiculously early! It just makes me happy and I want to enjoy it as long as I can.

However, I’m not missing the Holiday makeup roll out either.

    • Isabella Muse

I am too! Fall and Halloween are my jam so I’m totally up for it! I do toooooooooooooooooo! Fall goes up the 1st of September and end of the month I move into Halloween!

  • Sakura

Oh my gosh, I really like it slower! I used to look forward to holiday launches but they come too early and I have to buy them early before the season ir it’s they are out of stock and I’m not in the mood. (Oh kinda random but, do you follow Tashina from logical harmony on Instagram? She is super into Halloween themes. She’s been having sort of a metamorphosis of late. She started a monsters and makeup series and it’s super cool. Just thought that I’d tell you.

    • Isabella Muse

I have to admit I do too! Maybe we can just enjoy it for a bit versus rushing it! No I don’t!? But going to follow now! I LOVE Halloween so she sounds like my kind of girl haha! Thanks Sakura!

I have mixed feelings about this. On the one hand, it gets so hot here (Im not a summer person) that I appreciate any sign of fall because it means my pain and suffering will subside soon. But also, especially with the holiday makeup launches, if they come too early they feel less special and it diminishes my joy in the actual holiday season.

    • Isabella Muse

do you suffer from arthritis by chance? My mom’s flares up in the Summer with the humidity. They really do suck the joy from the season when they launch too early!
