Kiko Charming Escape Silky Blush Has Me Dreading Going Home

Ahh, a charming escape. Is that what it is being here in California these past few days? An escape? I’m working remotely and have been pressed hard in my day job lately (I’m sorry! The blog has been taking a back seat because of this!). I took on some new accounts and they are kicking my butt but somehow, someway being in California makes it so much easier to think a little clearer, my work flows better, and I don’t feel like things need to be done now, now, now. The days are a little longer here which makes me feel a lot less stressed about needing more hours in the day to get everything done. It also helps that I’m closer (sharing the same home office in fact) to the person I love. Just listening to him breathe at night as he sleeps is something you’d never think I’d miss so much but I did

Dewey Bunnell was right when he wrote, “Ventura Highway in the sunshine Where the days are longer The nights are stronger Than moonshine You’re gonna go, I know”

The days really are longer, the sun hits a little differently here. You know he wasn’t talking about 101 in that song right? He was just talking about the vibe here. The driving down the highway with the sun glaring in your eyes aesthetic that is California. I think the best way to describe it is by speeding down R44 with the mountains on one side and the gorgeous ocean on the other. It’s just a state of mind, a visual of California at its finest. I think Ventura Highway was the same for Dewey as describing Main Street, USA if that makes sense.

I love New York. I bleed it. I was bred here, I was born here, I was raised here. But sometimes California visits make me dread going home just a little bit. A charming escape if you will…

Speaking of charming escapes!

That reminds me of why I was inspired to write this post.

Kiko Charming Escape Silky Blush launched on ulta.com! You can snag them for 20% off using code 989305. These are from the Charming Escape Collection. There are four shades total and they give me NARS vibes for some reason or another. I ordered Tasty Peach and Rose Garden for myself! So I can think of drives down a highway somewhere in California and remind myself of charming escapes away from New York where days are longer 🙂

These radiant blushes contain olive oil giving them a moisturizing and weightless finish. They have a gorgeous embossed floral pattern. It’s very different for Kiko as they tend to go with more circle pans for their blushes.

Kiko Charming Escape Silky Blush is available now at Ulta.

Hi Muse….I just got my two Kiko Escape blushes (Mallow Field and Rose Garden). They are very nice, not as shimmery as some other Kiko blushes, but not matte either. I also ordered the two big Kiko Charming Escape shadow palettes and those colors are exceptional. Will be curious to see what you think of the products. Your reviews are the best!

    • Isabella Muse

Jana, thank you so much! Very flattering that you like my reviews! I’m a LITTLE disappointed they are shimmery but they do look like they might have some radiance Am I right? They look gorgeous! I can’t wait to get mine 🙂 Thank you again for the compliment and comment!

I’m gonna say it. This is another launch that has a spring vibe to me. It’s gorgeous don’t get me wrong, but feels like a weird time to launch. But anymore launch rules are out the window anyway lol
    Very tempting

Also I’m biased, but you should totally move to the west coast. Come to the dark side

    • Isabella Muse

Yessss! You are correct but lately seasonal themes are just out the window We’re totally free balling these releases lately Seasonal colors are just out the window! It’s a free for all! It can be confusing as I enjoy a more seasonal approach to launches but that’s simply not the way anymore ha I’m considering it but dunno if it’ll ever happen hmmmm!

The embossing is gorgeous, virtually Chantecaille. Need them not, but want them all. I went to UCSB for undergrad. What they said about me (no $h1t) Youre like a 78 record in a 33 town. The pace was just wrong for me. The afterquakes of the 71 (Northridge?) quake and the fires were enough to know I did not want to settle there. Not with everybody, but I often found that the surface behavior (laid back) was not the same as the deep behavior. The CA transplants to Mass were that way, and the deep behavior, under the laid back facade was get your own way at any cost. About five, not just one person. NY and Boston are straightforward. WYSIWYG. I found California pleasant, gorgeous, and hard to read at times. Glad youre having a sunlit time and hope Henri did not impact your NYC or upstate homes.

    • Isabella Muse

Honestly, the laid back nature is amazing at times and a culture to say the least but you know those East Coast vibes call me home! It’s just not the pace I’m used to and I think I’d grow tired of it given time! I like the rush, the buzz, and even the stress of the East! Nice to visit, nicer to come home as they say! Thankfully no issues! Some flooding but nothing that was a problem for me! How about you?

      • kjh

Yay! I sense photos of upstate fall deco coming. I can even smell it. Virtually nada in weather. Being coastal, the fear was flooding, more than wind damage. Coincided with low tide, yay. Being on the protected side of Cape Cod made it a piece of cake. Esp as this has been the rainiest, hottest summer in memory (the meteorologists) so the storm actually wasnt much more intense than the average day, lol. It was an excuse not to go to night job, though. People think of UCSB as Surf City College, but the Uni ranks high on every dimension, esp in top big public Unis. The location, between the mountains and the ocean is perfect. I missed the seasons. I think Id like NoCal, Ore, and Wash more than SoCal. But its grand to visit.

Traffic is back to pre-pandemic levels here. Ugh! I live in Simi Valley. Where are you staying?

    • Isabella Muse

Traffic was insane in the OC and LAC over the weekend 🙁 I’m in SCC now)! Simi is beautiful!

    • kjh

And how, here, too. First part of lockdown was like 1972. Now every testosterone filled jackass whose muscle cars were under wraps is drag racing on numbered roads. You can smell the Y chromes over the salt air. No traffic was nice while it lasted.

  • Linda

Born and raised in Newport Beach, California. Used to hate all the sunshine and was frustrated at the lack of culture, but eventually realized there’s a ton of culture here. It’s just different than east coast culture. I appreciate the mild weather, because it lets me have fun outdoors year round. I can run on the beach every day, even in the middle of winter. I’m glad you’re here and I’m glad you’re enjoying it.

    • Isabella Muse

Oh my gosh there’s a ton of culture for sure Linda! It’s def different than East Coast but that’s the joy! We each have our own unique culture, East vs West 🙂 I love how long the days are! It’s one of the most amazing things about CA! I always feel I have plenty of time and I’m never rushed. I always enjoy it when I come here! Thank you for welcoming me 🙂

  • Jana

ok, i tried Rose Garden this am, and it goes on mostly matte. It swatched with a little shimmer on my hand, but is less so on my face. It is a gorgeous coral-pink-rose shade. I wish Kiko would quite already with the matte lipsticks; Rose Garden would make a pretty luster shade of lipstick.

    • Isabella Muse

I think I’m ok with matte! I could always add a highlighter for a bit of glow 🙂 I know because I think they make such wonderful shiny lipsticks! I want more of that finish!

  • kimkats

Oh DANG those are pretty!!! Im trying real hard not to order tasty peach and mallow field… Those are just calling to me… (lalalalalal…. not listening….) those are really lovely – have you found swatches online yet? I’ve been looking and haven;t found any. Yet…. 🙂

Surely I cant be the only one who thought the lyric went, Picture a highway.

    • Isabella Muse

You thought Picture a Highway instead of Ventura Highway? LOL! That’s interesting LOL! He actually wrote the song when he moved out to CA (his dad was military) and it was just his way of describing a traditional highway in CA ;-D I love you thought it said picture a highway! misheard lyrics 2021
