What Beauty Product Have You Purchased Due To Advertisement?

Have you ever purchased a beauty product strictly due to awesome advertisements? Perhaps it was a commercial or a magazine layout that influenced the purchase? I am very much guilty of this particularly when I was younger and believed every single thing that marketing was feeding me about how the product would give me flawless skin, conceal all my imperfections, do my laundry, and walk my dog. The older I get the more skeptical I become about the allure and promise of what a product can do for me. I’ve also put much more effort into educating myself about ingredients.

But even with experience I still find that I can very easily be swayed into purchasing a product due to a tempting advertisement.

Beauty brands are slowly creeping onto Tiktok ads and the two biggest ones I get force-fed daily across that platform are Thrive Cosmetics and Truly Beauty. Man, Truly Beauty literally has me cringing and wanting to fling my phone across the room when the ads pop up. They really, really want boobie serum to be a thing. P.S. Check out my Instagram on boobies to make yourself laugh today!

As annoying as Truly is I can’t say that I feel the same about Thrive Cosmetics. I admit their advertisements using influencers across Tiktok got me to finally indulge in one of their Brilliant Eye Brighteners. I love cream eyeshadows so this purchase was a no-brainer. I haven’t tried it yet but I’m looking forward to giving it a whirl! Also, I forget but I had a brand new tube of Liquid Lash Extensions Mascara that’s equally marketed hard across Tiktok which I hauled out to finally try.

So, yeah, I guess I can still be swayed into purchasing beauty off advertisement alone.

How about you?

Have you made any recent purchases due to some crafty advert?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. yay! happy to hear it as the eye brighteners in the ads running look incredible! I wish one of the shades I wanted wasn’t OOS. It’s been OOS for a while now sadly but hopefully, they do a restock soon and I can snag it.

My story is not recent, but it sticks out in my memory. Back in the 90’s, Maybelline had magazine ads for Shine Free Stick foundation that featured Sarah Michelle Gellar. The tube was navy blue with silver lettering on it. It was one of the few brands that had a shade I could use (medium-tan). I obsessed for days about buying this. Nothing like this had ever been available for my skin tone before. I went to three different stores to find it. I was so happy when I got it. It worked well with my skin tone and it was easy to use. I used the whole bullet. Thank you for always having interesting topics to share with us. You are always so fun to read.

Just purchased two glimmer shadows from Bodyography from Instagram. They reminded me so much of Chanel ombre cream shadows that I love but dont want to spend that much money on. Im hoping for the best. They arrive today. I keep seeing Triny London. She has cream shadows also like Chanel in amazing colors …im very tempted….anyone tried Triny London?

I like Thrives mascara because its tubing but I wish I could buy it through Ulta or Sephora.

Not really, though I can appreciate them. I rely on you and Christine and listen to a few readers who seem to KTS. Really tempted by the thrive, though the causemetics aspect strikes me as total BS. Esp the eye brighteners as the UD new pencils are appalling. Plus Ill try any tubing mascara on the market, after I bought every new concealer on every continent.

Thrive Mascara! Saw it on YouTube a couple years ago. Its a tubing mascara and since Too Faced discovered third Lash Injection tubing mascara I have been in the hunt for one that is really black and builds volume as well as length. I have tried them all over the years so I had to try that one. They didnt ship to Canada. Eventually they came to Ulta – they didnt ship to Canada. Eventually I made a trip across the border and went tge 4 Ultas to find stock. Two tubes became mine and my new holy grail fortunately they ship to Canada now!
