Which Cleansing Balms To Buy On Sale and Which To Skip

Which cleansing balms to buy and which to skip? An important question my friends! Sephora’s Holiday Savings Event starts this Friday and it’ll get you 20% off your order if you’re Rouge with code YAYHOLIDAY. I think skincare is going to be something people go hard on this year not only because a lot of the color collections are a little uneventful but also, during the pandemic we learned a lot about good skincare and self-care.

I tend to stock up on essentials during this sale and those essentials always include my favorite cleansers. So, I decided to give you heads up about which cleansing balms to buy and which to skip!

Here’s the scoop!

Here are two cleansing balms to avoid at all costs! Drunk Elephant Slaai Makeup-Melting Butter Cleanser no, just no. This is highly raved and I don’t even understand why. It’s thick, doesn’t emulsify well, and leaves a weird film on my face. This was a huge waste of money!

The INKEY List Mini Oat Cleansing Balm is a killer value at under five bucks but the formula blows. Super thick, impossible to squeeze out of the tube, and it’s not even a cleansing balm just a cleanser of sorts that is difficult to remove. Thanks but no!

Those are two I highly recommend skipping!

Which cleansing balms should you grab?

Without a doubt, Wishful Clean Genie Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm is a total win for me. It’s sort of a cleansing balm slash cold cream! Removes makeup in a snap and doesn’t dry my skin out at all! Love it!

Another great pick and holy grail would be Farmacy Green Clean Makeup Removing Cleansing Balm. It’s probably one of the nicest textures I’ve tried when it comes to cleansing balms. It’s a very soft, melty formula that whisks away makeup easily. I’d highly recommend grabbing that Garden Party Green Clean Trio that launched for the Holidays as that’s one I think will sell out on Friday morning!

If you’re kicking it old school Clinique’s Take The Day Off Cleansing Balm Makeup Remover is a tried and true formula that works fabulously to remove makeup and rinses clean away!

And for something new? Check out Youth the the People’s new Superberry Dream Cleansing Balm which is as fabulous as you’ve been hearing about. This has a beautifully soft texture that melts instantly upon contact with skin! It removes makeup very easily and rinses clean away leaving skin hydrated and soft.

Which are some of your fav cleansing balms?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I love the Wishful one as well. Im nearly out and trying to use a little at a time to take advantage of the sale. I use sunscreen daily so need a balm for sure.
I love a few other wishful/huda items that I need to get during the sale

Do not forget to check the candles and room sprays, diffusers. Unless youve already geeked out at all the candle emporia. Forvr Gingerbread Traphouse (no lie, its really named that) and lots of others reminded me of Gourmandabella.

I agree the Drunk Elephant one is awful. I used to love Clinique’s cleansing milk…so I bet I would like the Balm too. My favorite cleansing Balm would have to be the Eve Lom Cleanser…I swear when I use it I don’t break out ever…it takes makeup off like a champ. Also I’ve been using Chantecaille Rose water as a toner & I never get dry…sorry I got off topic a little! Chantecaille rose water is worth the spurlge. Buy the travel size first at $32! U won’t regret it…great for dry skin too!

Thanks for the alert about the Farmacy set. Picked that one up. And great to know about the YTTP — added it to my wishlist.

Hiya lovely! Thanks for the heads-up about the Drunk Elephant one, I was surprised as people rave about that brand so much (I haven’t tried it yet). I love the Pixi Caroline Hirons Double Cleanse, and the Ciate Makeup Melter, what do you think of those two? Have you tried the new(ish) cleansing balm by Then I Met You? I haven’t, and people are raving about that over here in the UK 🙂 x
