I Want To Get You Out Of Your Beauty Rut Can I Tempt You With These Offerings?

Are you in a beauty rut? Has your beauty bubble broken? Are you just not excited about the latest eyeshadow palette launch? Are new makeup collections miserably failing to get you excited?

I know the feeling. I’ve been in a color cosmetic rut for several months now. I’m just not feeling the joy lately for new releases and the launch of a brand new sparkly eyeshadow really doesn’t enchant me. Is it being inside all day courtesy of COVID that’s put me in this beauty rut? Have beauty brands force-feed new releases too quickly? Is my collection oversaturated with the same shades in different packaging? Is there nothing new in the makeup and beauty world to tempt me?

I wouldn’t say there’s nothing to tempt me.

Here’s some makeup and beauty maybe I can tempt you with.

This week I gently reminded myself to shop my own fragrance collection and also, to buy something new and exciting for myself. I recently discovered a wonderful Tiktoker and content creator that does fragrance reviews by the name of Funmimonet. Fun fact, she’s launching her own fragrance this week. She’s glamourous, she’s transparent, and she’s awesome at fragrance reviews. She’s also making me broke with her recommendations but I’m loving every single second of it.

She reminded me that even though I’m slightly on a color cosmetic hiatus that I’m still incredibly passionate about fragrance.

It’s not the most popular of items in the world right now but Kayali Eden Juicy Apple totally uplifted my spirits during this bitter cold we have at the moment. I love this scent and I’m so glad I purchased the larger bottle. It smells a lot like Bath and Body Works In the Stars with juicy sweet apple notes. It’s a keeper! If you’re scared to dive into it with the larger bottle check out the Eden Juicy Apple Mini Perfume and Lip Set that’s $30 and includes a full-size liquid lipstick as well as a 0.34 bottle of the scent at sephora.com!

I also treated myself to a bottle of Qasamat Bareeq which Funmimonet recommended and oh lord it’s a keeper. This is very much a BR540 dupe! It’s also beast mode so you’re getting a more extrait experience with this beauty. It’s delicious. Erotic, naughty cotton candy vibes all the way! Smells very much like the legendary BR540 at a fraction of the price.

I’m not sure if you agree but sometimes you have to find the joy in the little things in life. My little thing? A tube of Cerave Healing Ointment! I love this stuff. I started slugging again with this and I don’t regret it at all. My skin has been very tight and dry lately due to the severely cold weather and a tiny bit of this applied on my face at night to seal in all my other sincare goodies at night is just the trick to restore moisture an ease that dry, tight feeling as well as getting rid of those patchy dry areas on my face which results in smoother lookin makeup! I even put some under my eyes and on my lips!

Find the joy in the little skincare purchases in life 🙂

Speaking of Cerave if I can’t tempt you into slugging I’d highly recommend the CeraVe Skin Renewing Gel Oil for those dry skin days!

I’ll tell you another little something else tempting me today but keep in mind I’m still somewhat off color cosmetics. The bright yellow and lovely peach coral shades in the Can You Beelieve Super Shock Shadow Kit from Colourpop caught my eye and I’m thinking I need them to come live in my makeup collection for Spring looks? Aren’t these colors yummy?

Also, that Wildflower Honey Sol Shimmering Body Powder is shouting at me to buy it and use it as a blush. Do you think it’ll work out?

What are you tempted by lately even if you are stuck in a beauty rut?

Are there things you avoid but things that still tempt you?

Do share!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I have the Sol Shimmering Body Powder in the Orchid shade and it works beautifully as a blush AND an eyeshadow, very pigmented, metallic, shimmery glow! I’m sure that Wildflower Honey shade would wear just as well as a blush and shadow!

Sorry you were affected by Covid, Muse. Glad you’re back in this space! Missed your updates and offerings.

    • Isabella Muse

Hi Linda, I wasn’t. Thank god! No COVID issues here just meant that COVID in general has me locked in the house more often than not 🙂 Not being sick though! Thanks Linda!

I’m in New York too and it’s exhausting. So glad you’re okay. Always love reading your recommendations.

I am definitely in a cosmetics rut. Hardly anything excites me anymore. I do occasionally buy some Asian cosmetics releases because of the packaging and the softer washes of colour and shimmer that I like nowadays, but that’s about it. I was recently looking at some Flower Knows and was going to pick up a blush or two, but I say that every month and still haven’t bought anything. LOL!

I’m definitely into cutting edge skincare, lately, which is usually painfully expensive. LOL! Have you heard of Eighth Day? I’m tempted, so very tempted. But that price! I’m always on the lookout for my mom, so that means I buy it try to first. :/

    • Isabella Muse

Flower Knows got a lot of my $$ in the Fall ugh! great brand just a bit hijacked price-wise. 🙁 but still gorgeous hehe! I have but I’m not going there. I really need to use up what I have instead of starting new routines lol! $195+ for skincare is painful! of course, for your mom, yes, for her…LOL 🙂

      • Christina

I did buy the mirror from Flower Knows from the Flower Goddess collection. So pretty!

Haha! Yes, for my mom. That’s the excuse I’m telling myself…

I LOVE the Cerave Healing Ointment!!! I have to check out the Cerave oil.

I hope you are feeling better! I was afraid you were sick since I haven’t seen you post. 🙁 I am so sorry about that!

    • Isabella Muse

Me too! Elbows, knees, lips, face…totally great moisture! The oil is fab! No no, I’m good. Just busy with work! Thank you for worrying!

  • Ashley

I’ve fallen done the rabbit hole that is curly hair Instagram so I’m trying not to treat myself to a ton of new exciting products when I know I already have a cupboard full! I did purchase a new too faced pillow balm and new skincare recently so hopefully that will hold me over. I like the sound of the Cerave oil, so I may have to add that to my favorites list.

    • Isabella Muse

OMG I did that during lockdown! I have wavy curly hair and I just went wild buying new haircare! check out the oil it’s great!

  • Robin H.

I received God is a woman as a birthday present. It’s slightly sweet and peppery on me and I love it! I’m not into Ariana Grande’s other fragrances but this gives me a lift. Been looking at makeup since Christmas and am not excited about much but I will check out the ColourPop shadows this weekend. I have missed you and glad to see your new posts!

    • Isabella Muse

I like her fragrances! Good is a Woman I didn’t buy yet but def on my list! It’s a little uneventful to me so I was waiting on a sale to haul it! Aw thanks Robin! I really appreciate that!

Ooh I’ll play! 🙂 I am looking at the new Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess Healthy Glow Bronzers in both Sunrise and Sunset. Gives me old school Guerlain vibes at a more reasonable price point. I love the eyeshadow palette from 2 seasons ago and use the Matte & Glow Bronzing Trio almost daily. Bronze Goddess always makes me think of the beach and warmer climes.

As for a scent, I went smell exploring around the holidays and I am most likely going to add Gucci Bloom Profumo Di Fiori EDP to my wardrobe. I sampled it a few times and I just keep coming back to it. I have not added any parfum to my wardrobe in years. I have been attached to Tom Ford Sole Di Positano and Mardarino Di Almafi and have not ventured away. If I was to add another Tom Ford is would probably be Neroli Portofino…same kind of vibe.

Anywho Bronze Goddess and a new parfum are looking to break me out of my winter beauty rut. 😉

    • Isabella Muse

Yasss! Those are gorgeous! Truly Bronze Goddess is such an underrated seasonal release! I love it. You appear ready for Spring break with those scents 🙂 Great picks for the warmer weather which hopefully we get soon!

I’ve been eying Dossier fragrances which are inspirations of other well known and very expensive perfumes such as Tom Ford & Maison Marigela. Reviewers have given excellent reviews. Have you purchased any? They are really a fraction of the price of the original.

    • Isabella Muse

I have not! I see them everywhere though also, DUA is getting a lot of hype!

This is a product recommendation for anyone living in a cold climate. Avons dew kiss is the best for moisturizing your lips and keeping them soft. My mother used it and i have used it since high school. Im 58 so that is a long time. lol. It is also very affordable. We live in Florida but I still use it and apply it throughout the day and at night. Hope someone finds this helpful.

Hope that more C19 scare is not holding up your business ventures. But that’s what zoom and face time are for! You, bolstered by your positive attitude will do great. Although we have to check when you’re here and await it with bated breath (yeah, the MAC lipstick) take the time you need. I stopped buying, (other than concealers and necessities) but everything is packed for moving (god knows where) and it will be like brand new stash time when I land. Did you try Caliray concealer? I got Rose in cool light and peachy corrector. Good, but dryish, needing good prep and more opaque than expected. A couple of imaginary authors are tempting me. Isn’t it fun having Christine do scent reviews? I swear she boned up by reading yours! Kind of funny for C, who has such a systematized approach, to do something so subjective and amorphous.

I saw an old Oprah interview of Adele. The lip lining strategy of the makeup artist on Adele is expert with precision and shades. Though I wonder if it looks better in video than real life. And I suppose strategic use of primer.

I haven’t been in the mood to wear makeup lately. We have been slow at work going on 2 years & I got a small raise, but it was expected since everything has been going up except wages. So my makeup game has been not what it used to. I’m focused more on skincare. Why is it when I dont wear makeup everyone asks if I’m sick or tired…so annoying. Men never get asked those questions.

I’m in a rut too as nothing is grabbing my attention. I did get a Sydney Grace palette that I had been on a waitlist for so long that I forgot about it. I almost let it go but decided to grab it. It’s their Coffee Eye Palette and should arrive next week. But I’m not overly excited about it!
