Riddle Me This: Victoria’s Body Mists Are $19.95 or 5 for $38

Guys, it’s been a while for me but how long have Victoria’s Body Mists been $19.95? I haven’t ordered a body mist from them in a very long time and I recently did an order over the Holidays as they were $6-$7 each for body care and body mists but at the time I didn’t take note of the original price because really who pays full-price for Victoria’s Secret or Bath and Body Works anything right?

But I just realized the body mists are $19.95 each. What?

Wait, what?

Have they always been this high? I mean, I’ve noticed Bath and Body Works have been creeping up lately. They are currently $16.50 each but I didn’t really notice Victoria’s Secret doing so until just now. $20 bucks per body mist are grossly high. I say that only because we all know how badly the staying power on both these and Bath & Body Works formulas are. If they had good sillage I would be more inclined to dish out money on them but not as they are formulated now.

I think the weirdest thing about this is their sale option which forced you to go into a $40 purchase since it just makes more sense than purchasing five mists for $38 versus one for $19.95. That’s nearly $100 worth of product at 50% off. I really had to look at the price a second and a third time because the fact one was $19.95 and five were $38 was just not computing for me.

Granted, as I said above, none of us are every going to dish out $16 or $19 per a mist at either Victoria’s Secret or Bath and Body Works but it still shocked me to say the prices go that high.

Inflation is real, kids.

And it’s starting to creep into the beauty world.

Did you notice how high body mists are now?

It’s their pre-Valentine’s Day push, where they jack up the prices in hopes of snagging people just looking to buy a sweet or romantic gift for V day. On Feb 15th I bet they’ll lower the prices back to $6! What a racket… this is why I buy roses on Feb 15th… $50 a dozen Feb 14th miraculously become $9 a dozen the day after 🙂

Well, inflation certainly is real. Only Musk and his Teslas could get gas around here. (tangent: isnt his mum beautiful?) In order not to destroy the bottom line, they have two choices. Increase the price or decrease the amount of product. (Shrinkflation.). I find price increase a bit better, as shrinkflation is more deceptive. The sleeve of crackers is now ~2 below the end flap on the same size package. The only way youd know is to look at the net weight. I know the same is true for dry cereal, for anything the mfgers can pass off as the same thing. Ill bet that l/s and powder cosmetics will shrink, too, but still be in the same tube/case. Make the e/s or blush pan more shallow and there you go! Do I think BBW or VS splashes are worth 20? Nope.

The only way around their high prices is to wait for a buy 3 get 3 sale and then use your 20% coupon if you have one or shop the semi-anual sale. That being said, you know how long it takes to finish a fragrance mist? For me it takes forever especially when you own more than 1. I went last week to BBW just to checkout the SAS but didn’t buy any body products, just wall plug refills that were a bargain. I want to use up what is in my stash unless they will be coming out with the new & different scents for spring/summer that I can layer with my quality perfumes. Glad you are back with your newsletters. I missed you for awhile. Happy New Year?

Happy New Year Geri! Sorry for being away 🙂 I’m trying to slowly get back but work has had me pretty busy! Yup! Without a coupon, it is so not worth it!!!!!!!!! And I have so many mists to get through it’s crazy for me to buy more. I’m trying to refrain as I’m like you, it takes me ages to get through one because I have so many of them! Thanks again, it feels good to be missed 🙂

This is going to make me sound like white trash but the Vanilla Lace body mist keeps mosquitoes away better than most bug sprays. I always keep one on hand…last time I went in to get one I about crapped $20 for a body mist…such a rip off. They must be really hurting to jack up their prices this much.

You don’t sound like trash at all. Do you remember years ago there was an “urban legend” that Avon Skin So Soft bath oil kept mosquitoes away? You would see these rugged mountain men types with bottles of it in their hunting, fishing or camping gear. I tried it and it worked okay, no better than regular insect repellent. But it certainly smelled better than DEET or pyrethins.

As for the VS price on mists, nobody ever pays full price. And I agree that I should get thru my stash before buying more.

Omg! I have been living off of 3 bottles for a few years and just went to go buy replacements. $19.95 for a body mist???? What the!!! This is insane. I have used Amber Romance since 1999. I might have to rethink my scent everyone knows as “my scent!” I don’t even know if I can convince to spend $20 on body mist. Crazy world we are in.

I know right? You can always wait for a sale but if you run out and really want more at that moment $20 is absurd!
