I Have Dry Skin and Even I Wouldn’t Want To Try Maybelline Green Edition Superdrop Tinted Oil Foundation

Wow the new Maybelline Green Edition Superdrop Tinted Oil Foundation is bringing back those great Instagram days where influencers would drip oil, foundation, and any other number of makeup items onto their skin. It always sort of felt like a reverse ASMR effect in my opinion. Instead of a voice or the crinkling of a wrapper or the snap, crackle, and pop of bubble wrap giving you chills it was that drizzle of facial oil dripping down a well sculpted cheek. That visual sent chills down your back or, if you’re anything like me, it was like the scratching of nails on a chalkboard.

Seriously, whenever I saw someone dribbling foundation or facial oil down there face I cringed. It just made me shudder. I’ve always been of the mentality that people apply a lot of foundation online. I seriously, apply a very small dab of foundation down both sides of my nose and blend out. That’s it. And by the way, I don’t have a dropper loaded with a bunch of facial oil that I dribble down my face pre-foundation. As a dry skin girl you’d think facial oil would be my greatest friend but to be honest it’s something I prefer using in the evening and only a few drops not an entire dropper full.

When Smashbox released their Primer Oil I was the first to say, “No, thanks!” No matter how dry I am the last thing I do is prime with oil. It’s not something that personally works for me. It makes me feel quite greasy and shiny throughout the day. I prefer a heavier moisturizer versus a facial oil. Some folks agree, others don’t, but personally, I’m not into facial oil on my face as a part of my daily routine especially since it really doesn’t play nice with SPF. Facial oil under my eyes to prep with? Yeah but on my face? Nope!

Maybelline Green Edition Superdrop Tinted Oil Foundation combines the moisturizing benefits of a facial oil along with the tint of a foundation. The lightweight formula contains both Jojoba and Marula oils giving skin a “fresh” look. The “Green Edition” refers to the glass bottle that is made from 20% recycled material as well as the formula which contains 84% natural-origin ingredients plus it’s vegan and contains no animal-derived ingredients. It contains no parabens or mineral oil.

If you prep with facial oil or it’s a daily stable in your daily routine you might think Maybelline Green Edition Superdrop Tinted Oil Foundation is a brilliant product. Personally, I’m sitting here poo pooing it. I’m not up for a greasy or shiny look. I’ll try it that’s for sure just because I’m curious enough to do so. Who knows maybe it’ll be brilliantly lightweight and hydrating?

What do you think?

Glad to know I’m not the only one who dislikes the dripping pics/gifs. It seems so wasteful and potentially messy. It always looks the product is going to run right off the face and end up on clothing and I cringe at that thought.

ugh they make my skin crawl haha. Nothing appealing about people doing a short IG clip dripping oil down their face!

As someone with extremely dry skin who despite drinking lots of water still is drier than the Sahara Dessert, this foundation is a holy grail. I’m all for applying a small amount of apricot oil and a good moisturizer before makeup. It’s not for everyone, but to me it works wonders on my skin! I love the dewy finish it leaves. To me it is not greasy or sweaty looking AT ALL. Highly recommend the product!

I’m not a fan of the dripping on face thing at all but I have tried and enjoyed some dropped style foundations like the old one from Joah beauty. I just drop a little on the back of my hand and then apply with a brush. I’d be willing to try the Maybelline one that way.

I love them too just not dropping them entirely on your face 🙂 But def a good packaging perk! They make application very easy!

Uh, no. But AMSR goes tenfold more wicked(that’s a crime/literary pod). Dripping is arrrrgh, but AMSR is eeeek!

Does it mean you don’t like things like Ilia foundation? I haven’t tried that one, but it looks way too oily/greasy, even for a dry skinned gal like me.

These days, I’m using things like Mac Face & Body, Chanel Water Tint, or I just spot conceal where I need it. I’m also testing out the Rose Inc. serum foundation, but that’s about as heavy of foundation as I can tolerate. I can’t imagine putting an oil based foundation on my face; I’d feel it all day, I think.
