Wouldn’t It Be Cool if Sephora Sold Vibrators? Oh They Do!

Sephora sells a host of vibrators now including the legendary Maude. Yup, you read that right. All the sexy toys you need are sold at Sephora. Well, I mean, not all the sex toys…! I didn’t see any Ben Wa Balls, chains, whips, or nipple clamps and I can tell you something I’ll be writing to Sephora’s head of sales immediately to complain.

As of now Sephora is carrying a host of different vibrators from Dame Products and Maude and yeah, I was a little shocked. I know some people fit sex into personal care, self love, and beauty but I actually don’t.

As a liberal and open minded as I am when I walked into Target one day and saw vibrators lining the shelves next to the tampons and maxi pads I raised a brow. But Sir, this is a Target…..later that day, I walked into the evil empire and there were a bunch of vibrators. And I wasn’t sure how I felt about it….

I’m not squeamish about sex by any means but some weird, protective mommy mode radar went off in my head (I don’t have kids, not sure I even want them) and suddenly, I was all, “My God what about the children! But the children will see…!”

I actually don’t know how I feel to this day about vibrators been displayed so openly at Target and Walmart.

Sephora, I don’t have much of an issue with as if they do start carrying them in stores children are a little less likely to see them. As of now, they are sold at sephora.com and what plans Sephora has to bring them to stores is not yet in the works or even if they will.

It was only a matter of time that Sephora broke into the vibrator world as Nordstrom, Beauty Bay, Feel Unique, Saks, and others have been selling them well over a year now. I sort of chalk it up as they felt we were all bored in the house and vibrators felt like the way to go to generate sells haha!

P.S. At the least I can give a Muse Approval to you! The Maude is pretty brilliant! Thank me later!

How do I feel about Sephora selling vibrators?

I dunno….

I’m not really sure. Some part of me is like whatever, go ahead and sell them! And another part of me is like, dude, it’s makeup I don’t want sex toys with my makeup.

The topic is interesting for sure.

What do you think about Sephora selling vibrators?

Yay or nay?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I’m with you.. it’s OK by mail but NOT in the store. I def. wouldn’t want to be seen buying one, or worse, watching anyone else buy one! Or handling the display….

LOL! I’m a little unsure how I feel about it tbh! Some part of me is like eh, ok why not and another part of me is like jeez what if children are around? It’s strange to see it at Target that’s for sure!

Haha! My initial emotional reaction is the same as yours! But intellectually, I think maybe I approve? Because I’m all for demystifying our lady parts, and normalizing sexuality. I think maybe it’s actually a good thing given the overexposure of kids to porn. But I sure wouldn’t want to walk down that aisle with my parents!

LOL nor would I. My mom would not take to it well LOL! Even as an adult I think she’d run in the opposite direction if we seen these in stores and were together. That’s just my mom! Old fashion AF. I’m def for normalizing sexuality I totally agree. I’m just a little unsure how quickly and early I’d want my kids exposed to sex toys. But, remember, I’m not a mom so def not an expert on the topic.

My initial reaction was no. I’m all about being comfortable with your sexuality but I don’t see how it fits with Sephora as a brand. It seems so random. It makes more sense with Target as Target sells such a wide variety of products.

I def had that feeling as well. Some people associate vibes with beauty but I really don’t. It’s two very different things. And some other part of me is like, eh, ok, why not. I’m oddly torn on how I feel about this one 😀

Haha… I don’t have an issue with children seeing vibrators at Target. If it were a giant life-like dildo, it might be a bit awkward, but these vibrators are kind of cute. Besides, they’ll see things like condoms, so it might be a learning experience for them if they don’t already understand what they’re looking at.

As an old F that remembers when pad or tampon boxes were wrapped in paper and tied, before going into the bag, you’ve come a long way, baby! For S, it seems like monkey see, monkey do. Nordie’s, etc jumped on the train, so we must, too. Target: I’d love to see what a new-to-period 12 y.o. I know would say…or probably ask….or maybe not, because her 13 y.o. friend is having sex with her 11 year old boyfriend. Seriously. But sorry, 2022 isn’t Margaret Mead and Coming of Age in Samoa. That guy will be a dad by 14 or 15. Hell, no. And the idea of having displays…it’s not that they’d be curious, it’s that they would be chasing each around the store, jabbing at each other. The mall rats, that is. Vibies used to only be commonly available at Spencer’s gifts, somewhere between the whoopie cushions and snakes-in-the-box. I think these fit into the personal care realm, but I need Gwyneth to demonstrate. I digress, but don’t object. Go, Gwyneth!

I may be in a minority here, but some things are better left to be bought discretely. As a mom of 2, I break down anything that pertains to “the talk” and sexuality in small, age appropriate increments. Just like 12-th grade math is best left in 12-th grade, so do some topics about sexuality better be left explained at an age when the child is mature enough to understand it. Sudden unloading of it all at one time may make them feel very awkward and associate sexuality with something shameful. Plus, some things will always be polarizing and carry a “dirty” or taboo label no matter how progressive our society becomes. It’s best to leave these things online or in dedicated specialty stores.

I think it’s a bit weird. I just don’t associate a store like Sephora with vibrators.
