The effects of the inflation may be hitting the beauty and makeup world as E.L.F. Cosmetics increases prices as of March 7th. As per an Instagram post, E.L.F. has shared the news that due to rising costs many of their items will increase in price by $1 where as others will remain the same. They haven’t disclosed which items will be getting hit with this price increase but did say the Bite Size Eyeshadow Palettes, Lip Lacquer, and Instant Lift Brow Pencil are some of the few that will remain at the same price of $3.

I respect E.L.F. for being so public about their price increase versus just doing it without without mentioning. As with most brands, they are experiencing the rising cost shipping, material, etc…. COVID has impacted many, many supply chains which is evident by a simple trip to the grocery store where you likely can’t find some food item or snack you’ve used to seeing stocked so readily on the shelves.

I was just discussing how I’m old enough to remember when E.L.F. was simply a dollar and how they have increased so dramatically in the last few years with items going as high as $10. We’ve been spoiled rotten with incredible sales, deals, and low cost products for several years now that the sudden increase in prices is really throwing us off.

As we head deeper into 2022 I’m curious to see which brands will be able to maintain their current prices and which will quietly raise them (or be as public and transparent as E.L.F. Cosmetics is with their price increase).

Does this new price increase upset you?

I agree. I always appreciate transparency in whatever industry when it comes to price increases, and these days, everyone seems to be needing to do a price increase. Totally understandable, particularly when they’re open and honest about what is happening.

Same. At least they were brave enough to come and say listen, I’m sorry, but we need to increase prices and didn’t just surprise us with a price increase and act like nothing happened!

I don’t know why, but I was somewhat taken aback about this. However, I totally understand. When prices increase, I tend to have this negative connotation, in a way. I hope ELF doesn’t get all crazy with their price hikes as time goes on because that’s what makes them so enjoyable: the low price points for some really great items. I’m really enjoying their new brow freeze!

I’m actually not. I’ve been getting hit with emails all over the place about price jacks. So it didn’t come as a surprise me in the least. Honestly, ELF has gone up dramatically when you think about the fact it started at a buck and now some stuff is as high as $10 or $15. But still, it does remain affordable 🙂
