Spring Is Coming Time to Clean Up Your Makeup Stash

Yesterday we had our first real taste of Spring here in New York. The weather was in the 70s (but that evening we had the worst winds and rain! Ugh! Mother Nature WTF?), clear skies, sunny, and just gorgeous.
I’m starting to prep for Spring and started sorting through my clothing, accessories, and most importantly, my makeup stash. I always like to take a moment at the change of each season to really look through my makeup and skincare and ditch anything that may be expired or to rotate shades I’ll use most in that season. But also, it’s a good time to really look at what you have and reflect on who you might be able to help by donating it.
The perk of blogging beauty is brands will send a lot of very lovely items to you but the packaging they send it in can be incredibly wasteful at times. Beautiful yes, but totally wasteful. Especially when they are sending you fifty shades of one foundation or a huge boxed makeup set. It’s exciting to get but once the initial excitement wears of you realize you have this big box of stuff you probably won’t use half of.
Even if you aren’t blogging beauty I’m sure you accumulate a lot of makeup, skincare, and personal care items. As a beauty junkie, I know how that feels. Endless shower gels, scrubs, moisturizers, and on and on and on. I’ve really reigned myself in and I’m a lot more selective with how purchase makeup and other beauty but I still manage to have quite a lot at the end of the day.
Get online and do your research because there are tons of organizations that really want and need your gently used makeup and beauty products. There are some you can ship your products to but I always find going local is the best bet. Donate to local women’s shelters or to organizations that support younger girls or domestic abuse victims. Sometimes Midnight Run also accepts shampoos, shower gels, etc….! I think we sometimes forget how much we can accumulate and how many people really need it more than us.
Cleaning out your closet, bathroom shelves, etc…will remind you how much you have and how others aren’t as lucky. This is a reminder to go de-stash a bit and donate it to someone that truly needs it!
Happy Spring Cleaning Days ahead my friends!
