Walmart Teams Up with SpaceNK for Luxury Beauty Launch

Walmart will bring partnering with Space NK to bring more luxury lines of skincare, makeup, and and hair care. The new partnership is labeled “Beauty Space” and will be available online at walmart.com as of March and launching at 250 stores this summer with over 15 luxury brands that will be available. Some of those brands will include By Terry, Foreo, Slip, and more with prices ranging from $50 to $200.0

As you know Target teamed up with Ulta to do the same as well as Sephora with Kohl’s. And the thought that the beauty industry is suffering due to the pandemic is probably completely wrong because Coty says that prestige sales were up 12% as of the second quarter in 2022 (I blame Tiktok).

I know what you’re thinking! Prestige Beauty at Walmart? But it’s actually not as weird as you may think considering the relationship that Walmart has developed with some luxury brands of clothing and accessories that they begun carrying on their website a while back ago.

Yes, the idea of Space NK and Walmart sounds like an odd relationship but luxury beauty brands are slowly realizing that they can’t remain exclusive to a certain type of clientele anymore and they need to cast their nets out further and become more readily available to the masses.

I do wonder if this collaboration will work out for Walmart or if it’ll be a bust.

What do you think of prestige beauty at Walmart?

Yay or nay?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I’m in the YAY camp! Yeah, it’s a weird pairing, but it makes it so much more widely available, and that’s a good thing for everyone! It’s full of WIN! 😀

I can see where Walmart would have to do what many other stores have done and keep the expensive luxury brands under lock and key, otherwise I think shoplifting is going to be a huge problem. That means you would have to find an employee to unlock the merchandise, and if you have every been in Walmart, you know you could fire off a cannon in the store and not hit an employee, and they are not the most helpful bunch – at least they are not at any of the Walmarts near me. I cannot imagine this being very sucessful.

I think they do this in certain locations as I haven’t run into Walmarts having anything under lock and key around here! but yes, if they do, that will ruin the experience for some folks!

LOL! Sounds like the universal Walmart experience. I wonder if they’ll have trained staff like they do at Ulta/Target. I had pretty good customer service when I visited the Ulta inside my Target; even better service than when I go into my regular Ulta stores.

Huge-er. The closest Wally does not lock, but the next closest does. Help is good, at least in other depts. With the horrendous jumps in price for gas and houses, for example, those who would steal will. I suspect and hope the main offerings will be online only. Target did that, at least before their partnership w/ U. My personal experience with online SNK has been poor to mediocre. Though the boutique SNK in Bloomie’s has been lovely. I’d love to see this succeed, but have doubts.

Love this idea & I hope this comes to the Walmart I shop at. Only thing is, all the Walmart around me keep all the makeup and some skincare locked up. It’s such a pain in the ass! You have to hunt down an employee to unlock the case and give you the items you want. Then to top it off, they won’t even ring up your stuff in the cosmetic section. They themselves take the items to a particular register at front of store, and you have to pay for it there. Oh, and they keep deodorant, men & women’s razors and shaving accessories locked up too.

Bring it! More is more! I love all the choices we have now!

I think it’s great, but it won’t entice me to shop at Walmart any more than I do now .

sadly, i think it will be a bust. i think the folks who frequent walmart (which are more and more of us, trying to squeeze as much as possible out of a buck) simply can’t afford luxury beauty brands. i know i’ve had to cut way back on what i spend on beauty products. i also run a business that features luxury items, and have seen a definite downtick as people are spending on needs, not wants.

I dunno. It’s hard to say on this one. May be a bust, maybe be wildly successful. Beauty is oddly doing well for such a trying time my friend!
