The Weirdest Thing I’ve Purchased Recently is a Punch of Pastels and I Think Coachella or Tiktok Made Me Do It

Guys.

I did a thing.

I went and purchased a bunch of pot gel eyeliners, eyeliner pencils, and primers in an array of pastel shades. I used to be the Nile in Eygpt. I remember it well. It was Spring 2009 and the Shu Uemura Mirage Collection launched and I was convinced that soft, pastel colors were something I could actually wear. I remember really loving pastels for a long time. I remember thinking how soft, pretty, delicate, and feminine they were. I also remember when reality set in and I realized how in denial I was about how truly bad they looked on me.

I’m a light-medium skin tone with a peachy undertone and I think it’s fair enough to say light baby pink, baby chicken yellow, sky blue, and delicate lavenders just aren’t for me. I look a little like rigor mortis set in when I attempt these shades. Guys, I used to wear pastel green eyeshadow like it was a good thing.

But I went and did the weirdest thing and purchased a the Pastel Please PR Kit from Beauty Creations.

I’m still on the fence about why I did it.

We were blessed with some incredible tickets for Coachella this weekend and my body is telling me, “Jesus you’re too old for this sh1t!” this morning but my heart is singing how fun it was to actually be at a music festival again. I’m exhausted but I’m glad I went and even though I was one of the few people masking it up I still had a blast. Coachella is always a fun makeup time. I hate when festival trends are shoved down my throat but seeing them in person is incredibly fun.

I can’t figure out if this purchase was influenced by that fast Coachella weekend or if it was because everyone on Tiktok was doing all these looks with these pot gel liners from Beauty Creations.

Either way, it led me to purchase the Pastel Please PR Set which includes six pastel shades of pot gel liner, pencil eyeliner, and primer. I have NO idea what I plan to do with all this but I’m having one of those screw it moments where I’m like, “This is going to be so fun!” Worse case scenario none of it works and I gift it to a friend. But I think I can make these work.

Or am I still the Nile in Egypt?

What do you think?

Had to Google. Maybe it’s the deep set eyes or the Methuselah age, but I like pastels. About as common as my skin condition, 5 in 100,000, lol. Anyway, WTF is up with those primers? In a variety of pastel colors? No comprendo at all.

Sweet the kit looks awesome !I may have to look into it as I love liquid liners and gel liners . Plus I’m always on the lookout for more colors .

Use them to accent a black winged liner or to accent darker colors so it’s not just a pastelpalooza fest on your face.

No idea if you are in denial, but I checked this out and it’s irresistible. The set looks like a case of macarons! Great price. Very tempted.

Honestly, Shu Uemura makes everything look so beautiful it convinces me of essentially anything.

I agree. Everything always looks so ethereal and elegant in the promo pics!

Nope, no relation. I mentioned in my post that pastels reminded me of a Shu Collection.

the denial is strong with this one but the good thing about makeup is that it washes off. ever so often, I forget about pastels and then I try them again and remember that most brands haven’t *quite* figured out how to make them work for brown skin. le sigh.
