Do We Want a Colourpop Mystery Box? Maybe!

I receive a small commission if you shop through my link.

Colourpop has a Mystery Box and I gotta say I’m a little curious. But I sort of have a love-hate relationship with mystery boxes! Opening one reminds me of going to a Birthday party when I was like 7 or something and getting a goodie bag at the end of the party and opening it in the backseat of the car on the way home. It was always so fun seeing what sort of candies and small toys were in that bag!

I think makeup mystery bags and boxes can be cool but also, sometimes they turn into a waste as you’ll get things that are tossed aside because it’s something you’ll never use. I can’t say that the new Colourpop Mystery Box isn’t tempting. It’s $49 bucks which is a pretty big splurge without knowing the exact contents. Appaently, what’s inside is twice that amount and valued at $145.

Someone remind me I don’t need this….

Do I?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I say SKIP THIS! I like Colourpop myself, but a mystery box from them sounds pointless. They always have these blow out sales, that’s when I grab a bunch of things that I wanted but didn’t want to pay full price.

BTW I got an email from Elcie cosmetics this morning. This is what it stated:
20 ver old Lilit would have never ever dreamt of having a cosmetics brand at
one of the most sought after cosmetics stores in the world. When I was reached
to with the opportunity to join the ULTA family, I immediately said yes. I flew
out to the ULTA HQ in May 2018 and met the most amazing supportive team I
could have asked for – and my journey began. ULTA has been so supportive
throughout the years and has gone out of their way to represent and shed light
on Elcie Cosmetics beautifully. Unfortunately, all good things must come to an
end – but not indefinitely. At the moment, Elcie is on a different journey and
different path and hope to connect with the ULTA family again.

I guess everything is to be 30% off or less on the Ulta site, but everything is still full-price. Just a heads up on this upcoming sale!

I saw this! How sad! Thanks for the heads up though! 😉 and you’re right! It’s better to hold your money and grab stuff on sale versus a mystery box I prob won’t like the contents of.

I’ve never bought a mystery box because there is a little voice in my head that tells me it will be filled with products that haven’t sold that well and no one else wants and all of it will look terrible on me. Not sure if that’s true but it’s saved me a bunch of $$!

Same girl same but my less logical side is over here like ooo wonder what’s in there!

I have never bought a mystery box. Why buy something that you might hate or they just couldn’t sell? I suppose it’s a gamble which I don’t do. Mystery only works for TV movies. lol

I have before. Sometimes it can be cool and you get something you really want or never tried. Other times, not so much ;-D Mystery can be fun!

This is true. If you want to try new things it is most likely a way to get a variety. You never know what comes in those packages. You might hit on something you love. At my age 59, I’m at the point of wanting to pick out what I want, but I have everything from every make out there. lol . Owning literally 50 blushes is too much and 30 different eyeshadow palettes is overkill. Oh well, always laugh at yourself. Also my daughter gets my overflow. She loves that and gets some nice really high end things. Always share if it is something you will never use. I always give to our christian thrift store as more and more women are going there for clothes, makeup and personal items they need for work but can’t afford brand new. Always give what you love not because you don’t want it. Also food pantries are hurting right now. Give good food and clothing that you would want yourself. Sorry about the sermon. Thats my husbands job. lol

NO. Just chose your own products from the up to 80 percent off section, because you know, that is what you’ll be getting.

Been tempted by Beautylish. The only one I’d trust, since they tell a color family and Christine often has the review of most shades in the bag…Sydney Grace. Quality is all but assured, and you know the color family. But never have indulged. Too iffy on close-to-expiration, left over stock, colors I would not use, etc. With the Sydney Grace, I usually rue not springing for it.
