I Missed Memorial Day Sales and That’s Ok!

Wakey wakey friends!

How are you? Due to recent events, I decided to take a brief break. Work has been pretty busy for me but also, I thought it was rather tone-deaf to speak about makeup, beauty, and sales when there was so much sadness going on. The recent shooting was heartbreaking (and so soon after the one here in New York), and talking about makeup didn’t feel right.

I also decided I wanted to take a break from social media for a bit. I noticed I was getting upset and even angered by things I was seeing going on across social and I was like, wait, what? I need to take a step back from this because why am I letting it bother me like this? Not to mention it got to a point I was bickering a bit with a very good friend about it and that’s simply not us. Over a year of knowing her I never once experienced that. It was a sign I needed to rethink how I was approaching things. I haven’t completely left it but I’m just engaging a lot less because I needed to refresh myself.

I missed posting Memorial Day Sales and although I’m almost always away for the weekend I still normally post the sales every year. This year, it just didn’t feel right to post a bunch of sales. It felt incredibly insensitive to slap up a bunch of posts about makeup and sales with parents mourning their children. I don’t have children personally so, I can’t say I know what it feels like. I can say it made my heart sick for the parents and families involved.

I hope this post finds you well.

Today I’ll make an attempt to jump back into beauty because beauty is a great escape and I hope you’ll join me for a brief time or two to just enjoy beautiful things without worrying about the chaos of the world.

Continue being the good humans I know you are.

You got this!

And if you need a break, it’s ok to take a break. From life, from social media, from watching the news…whatever it is. It’s ok to take a breather.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Looks like you enjoyed your vacation at the lake over the weekend by your IG posts. When will you post the Paris pics? I think we were still all shopping the biggest sales over the holiday weekend, wouldn’t miss it! Who wants to pay full price?

    • Isabella Muse

It was nice to get away 🙂 we went to Miami so it was the ocean not a lake haha 🙂 I’ll do it soon! I had a few on my IG stories! Absolutely! No one should pay full price for makeup anymore imho ;D

I’m glad you took a break. The sales were what they were but we need to take care of ourselves. It’s been heavy with very bad news and feelings of deja Vu and helplessness. Glad you’re back.

I am too Robin! I’m happy to be back but man, its been a heavy time and makeup can be hard to discuss with so much going on!

Well said. I spent the weekend enjoying my family. If I -really- want/need a beauty item, I’m still going to purchase it whether it’s on sale or not. And social media has become so toxic in the last few years with the pandemic/current political climate. It’s totally okay to take a breather.

I’m so happy to hear it! Sometimes we just need time to be around the folks we love! ANd we all need to just unplug from it all sometimes and enjoy the people around us 😀

    Isabella,
You do a lot in your life and at times you have to take a much needed break. Enjoy it. I love your newsletter. Just do it when you can and feel up to it. There has been so much going on in the world, we all need a break. Stay well.

it has. It’s been hard for a lot of people. I can’t say it’s been terribly hard for me. Others are in way worst a position with losing loved ones, their jobs, etc…! so, I shouldn’t complain but honestly, it’s been a wild ride lately 🙁

    Hi Isabella,
You were missed, however, you did the right thing. Glad you’re back & speaking of being back, would love to hear more about your trip to Paris and London. We haven’t travelled internationally since 2019 & are considering an extended trip to Spain, maybe Paris too. Oooh lala those pharmacies! Would luv to know about all the goodies you brought back from the beauty department whether they are a hit or a miss. Or are there any new products that are a must.

    • Isabella Muse

Thank you Geri! I’m glad to be back! I think I’ll do a post about it soon! I’m glad to see you are interested in hearing about it. Likewise! We haven’t traveled since all this started so it was lovely getting back to it. Oh god I brought too much back lol! I plan on doing some fragrance reviews from my trip! As I got a lot of perfumes 😀
