Bath and Body Works Wicked Vanilla Woods Is Not a Dupe for Replica By the Fireplace

4 stars out of 5

Word is going around Tiktok that the new Bath and Body Works Wicked Vanilla Woods is a dupe for Replica by the Fireplace. Should I slam my head against my desk now or later? I hate the viral dupes with a passion. I remember a few years ago everything was a dupe for everything and that trend has been returning full force on Tiktok and I find it crazy annoying because the dupes presented are so inaccurate. I watched the Tiktok below and it basically expressed my exact feelings about dupes! LOL!

It just drives me crazy when people are putting out completely wrong information about products just to gain views. “This looks identical to this and it’s only two dollars!” meanwhile, they are comparing apples to oranges. I feel for this recently when someone said that Bath and Body Works Wicked Vanilla Woods smelled exactly like Replica By the Fireplace. By the Fireplacehappens to be one of my favorite scents from Replica and reminds me quite like Bath and Body Works Marshmallow Fireplace. Before watching the Tiktok describing this as a dupe I had been at Bath and Body Works and purchased Candy Potion but put down Wicked Vanilla Woods after a little sniff taste as I’m not a big fan of woodsy vanilla fragrances.

After getting home I was flipping through Tiktok and Bath and Body Works Wicked Vanilla Woods popped up on my feed and a Tiktoker described it as being an identical scent to By the Fireplace. Hmmm…what?! I remembered smelling it in the store and it smelled NOTHING LIKE that. Did I miss something? I quickly made my way back over, purchased it, got it home, and used it for one week straight with the body lotion layered on.

And I can confirm.

It smells NOTHING LIKE Replica By the Fireplace.

I can’t tell you how this evoked rage in me. Like dude, why are you saying things are a dupe for each other and they smell nothing alike? I will say, it’s a nice fragrance if you like sweet woodsy vanilla fragrances. I was convinced I somehow missed the By the Fireplace thing because I didn’t spray the scent on in store and I thought, “Hey! Maybe it needs to dry down!” but nope, nothing like it. By the Fireplace is more a toasty, very smoky, and slightly sweet blend whereas Wicked Vanilla Woods lacks the smokiness and goes heavier on the wood note and sweeter on the vanilla. And I did take body chemistry into consideration here…I realize some people are going to say, “Well, it might smell like By the Fireplace on some whereas it doesn’t on others!” No, it won’t. The notes are completely different.

The notes consist of vanilla, amber wood, and pink pepper. I personally get all woods and vanilla from it. The vanilla is a sweet affair that mixes with the woods giving it a warm, cozy finish. It’s a very nice fragrance but it lacks the smokiness and toasty marshmallow vibe I get from By the Fireplace. It’s not bad by any means and it’s quite a nice scent as I said above. It’s a perfect Fall or cooler weather blend.

And hey, check the awesome bottle! It’s one of two scents that were released with the Bath and Body Works Halloween 2022 Collection and it features a very cute bat print against a starry purple sky.

Bath and Body Works Wicked Vanilla Woods is great for fans of warm, woodsy vanilla but please, don’t listen to anyone saying this is a By the Fireplace dupe! Sadly, it is not.

Do share your thoughts on this scent if you purchased it.

Bath and Body Works Wicked Vanilla Woods is available now!

I smelled it this weekend and it is really vanilla-y. I agree that it smells nothing like By the fireplace.

    • Isabella Muse

Yup! Nice and warm vanilla! NOT at all! I was like wait, what? Dupe!?

  • Glenda

I wondered about this but I love my vanilla to be really gourmand, like photorealistic cake/cookie gourmand so this is a pass for me.
Coffee and Whiskey has piqued my interest but I’m not sure how masculine it will lean. I might have to brave the heat and humidity of August in Florida and venture out for a trial sniff.
In the meantime, what did you think of Enchanted Candy Potion? The reviews have me wondering if it’s similar to Tutti Frutti Candy which I already have.

    • Isabella Muse

same! I like a cakey vanilla as well! This is sweet but it has that woodsy amber element that makes it warmer! Not sure on the Tutti Fruitti Candy vibe but it does smell like something that was released recently, can’t remember what but it’s very similar to something I already have. Don’t get me wrong! I like it! but it’s just Bath and Body Works’ normal take on berries and whipped cream!

I just want it for the bottle! As soon as I see bats and witches and all of that, I am all over it.

Is this a dupe for Kayali 11?
I’m kidding, since this is a post about misguided searching for dupes.
But Kayali …it’s wonderful, I had a sample and just have to buy it.

    • Isabella Muse

Hahaha 🙂 Kayali 11 is wonderful! Layer it with vanilla and whoa! gorgeous!

i feel your passion on this! anyone can say anything and we are just supposed to believe it to be true! although mark my words, if i ever here of a dupe for creme de pistache from laura mercier a am going out and buying it all!

    • Isabella Muse

ugh people drive me nuts with the dupe stuff! Don’t quote me but wasn’t Pistachio Brulee or miel bebe from urban outfitters/le monde gourmand the dupe for creme de pistache?

    • Glenda

Not a dupe but if you like pistachio scents, have you tried Pistache Body Care? I received a hand cream in a sub box redently and it’s so delicious I am going to get body spray soon.

  • Lola

I personally agree it’s nothing like BTF at all and I’m so over the dupes videos saying things are one thin and it isn’t.

I do love a good dupe but atp they are just saying anything

  • Alanna

Not a dupe for By The Fireplace but it is almost spot on to Whispers in the Library! Definitely in the same family. I own both and love them together.

    • Isabella Muse

I didn’t get that either. Whispers in the Libray is much more richer with a lot less vanilla compared to this! But sounds like a good plan to layer the two 😀

  • Candy

I heard the bbw dupe was bonfire bash or sweet whisky(have not confirmed). There also bodycology cozy fireside s’more at walmart (weak smell for me). I went on adventure to find something similar as perfume. le monde has a Hazelnut L’hun/choco hazelnut, pharmacia vanilla dore (check tester). I fell tic tok for Zara Bohemian Oud being dupe…….it resembled but it tooo strong…….you end trying find something cheaper, but sometimes end spending the same.

    • Isabella Muse

Oh no neither. Both of those are amazing but neither is a dupe for by the fireside! LOL isn’t that the truth about “spending the same”! Sometimes it’s just better to indulge in the original!

  • Melody

I have nothing useful to add here but Wicked Vanilla Woods definitely unlocked some kind of memory that I can’t put my finger on and it’s driving me nuts.. it’s a beautiful scent in my opinion but I know I’ve smelled it before. I think sometimes people will get that “unlocked memory” from a scent and kind of just match it to something else that they associate it being similar to. It’ll make sense in their minds but not to anyone else. Then one person posts a vid, goes viral and others follow because of the views lol
That TikTock you posted took me out !
