Olay Hyaluronic + Peptide 24 Skincare Collection is a new line of skincare that recently launched on their website and should be headed to mass retailers in the next few weeks in time for Fall 2022.

It’s a pretty exciting launch for fans of Hyaluronic Acid as it offers a more affordable way to inject not only HA into your routine but also peptides like niacinamide. The collection features a gel moisturizer, eye cream, serum, and a cleanser. Best of all is this is a fragrance-free formula.

Exciting right?

Might I add an eye roll right here? I was going to purchase some of the collection because I’m a skincare junkie and my curiosity was piqued but also because I wanted to review it here and share my thoughts. But I have to admit I became so incredibly frustrated and annoyed with the fact that every single review I was reading on the Olay website was five stars with a “Received an incentive for this review” disclosure.

Come on.

It just evoked rage in me and I ended up not buying any of it at all. There are so many honest blogs, influencers, and Tiktokers who work really hard at producing quality, honest content and reviews across the Internet. It’s so frustrating to see people given a sample of something that they just rave about for the sake of raving. I have no issue with the free sample! I think it’s great they’ve gotten consumers involved in the testing of a new product. What I don’t like is the all-five-star reviews just seem incredibly dishonest to me. There’s no way over 1000 reviewers are that enamored with this collection of skincare! Seems like a miracle! I mean, I’m begging to be proved wrong here. I want to know that it’s true this line is so amazing it just floored thousands of people into giving in five stars.

But I have some doubts about that.

And hey, Olay, I’m not picking on you. This is a fairly common thing lately where people are provided a sample and asked to review it on websites like Sephora, Target, and even Amazon. It just does ring a bit dishonest when every single person who got the sample is giving it five stars.

It literally made me not buy it. I had three items in my cart and I was like eh let me check reviews before I take the plunge. And that was enough to make me just get angry enough to not bother. At some point, I will purchase it in-store but right now I’m busy rolling my eyes back into the socket of my head.

Do better and stop trying to trick people into a purchase!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. I am joining you in an eyeroll. I get it, rating it five stars boosts the product and maybe adds some shine to yourself as a reviewer but do you REALLY love it? It’s okay not to. Educated consumers have seen this bait before and we’re no longer starving.

    • Isabella Muse

that’s way way of saying it, “We’re no longer starving” PREACH! 😀

  • Dee

Same! When all the reviews are there because the reviewer got the product free and the reviews are glowing I PASS.

    • Isabella Muse

same 🙁 It’s so upsetting! I can’t trust a damn thing on Amazon anymore! It’s all lies!

Yup. And the reviews on the dedicated brand sites are ludicrous. People are always willing to bitch about anything that causes reactions. There is s.o. who is allergic to the everything, even the most hypoallergenic ingredient known to man. I know s.o. who is allergic to water. Seriously. Then remember the Sunday Riley debacle. Disregarding the incentivized reviews, it’s still hard to use the info, unless the writer gives relevant info about successful s/c, general age bracket, concerns, as in why TF did you buy this? Shade approximation. Formula preferences. Comparison by criteria, even vague-ish ones, like Xxx has HA higher on the list than Yyy. I really don’t care about likes/dislikes. Everyone knows YMMV. The opposite of X Files reigns. The truth is NOT out there; it’s all opinion.

lol true! They really are. And it’s really weird because why are you using this stuff knowing it isn’t something that will work for you?

    • Isabella Muse

Good question! I emailed Olay directly but never got a reply back about it.

Okay. I bought the product. Before opening it, I searched for reviews and SCOURED Tik Tok. I found the same results and it was super creepy. Then I started to think there was a conspiracy involving Olay. Looks like there is.
Based off of my search results, I’m not going to open the package. I’m taking that baby back.

I’m so glad I found your post. I thought it was just me! That is so strange. Hardly any bad reviews or real reviews…
