Fenty Beauty Gloss Bomb Ice Was Disappointing At First….
Fenty Beauty by Rihanna Gloss Bomb Ice is a new lip luminizer lipgloss with an immediate cooling effect to give lips a juicy wet-look finish with a minty scent and flavor! I’m a huge clear gloss user! I’ve always completed most every lip look with a clear gloss. I just like really wet, glossy-looking lips. I have a huge stash of different clear glosses and I’m always adding to my collection.
When Fenty announced they were doing a clear gloss I was pretty excited but instantly disappointed when I saw it was a blue. I hate blue glosses. All of them promise to be clear but most of them have that awful iridescent finish. Fenty said their version was clear and shimmer-free but I was expecting some sort of blue tint or at least some weird shimmer. I was a happy girl when it arrived, I tried it, and it was, as promised, completely clear.
Now let me tell you how I was influenced to purchase this…
I have a lot of clear glosses in rotation at the moment so, when Fenty Gloss Bomb Ice dropped I was game to try it but I was like, “eh, I’ll just wait till the Sephora Holiday Sales Event to pick this up!” I headed over to Sephora’s website, gave it a little heart, and was on my way. Fast forward to that same day and the gushing social media influencers started going off on this. I wasn’t swayed! I had plenty of clear gloss! I could wait to get it on sale. As if Fenty was reading my mind they had a sale with free shipping and I had my chance to buy it. But if it didn’t go on sale I had already reached the point I was getting anyway because I had watched one particular Tiktoker make a huge deal out of the really awesome cooling effect this had on lips. She put it on, nothing happened, and as she was describing it suddenly see was all, “OH WOW OH WOW It’s co COLD on my lips! Oh it feels so cold! Oh you gotta wonder how they do these things!” and instantly I was curious about it. It just seemed so fun that lipgloss had a cool, chilling effect on my lips.
Now, it deserves to be said I’ve tried millions of glosses and none have any special cooling effect. And of course, with plumping glosses, you get some sting and warmth but nothing cooling! Even Du Wop Lip Venom never produced a chilling effect. But this Tiktoker made a point of how awesome the cooling effect was so I had to try it out for myself.
Yeah, well, I should know by now that Tiktokers blow things out of proportion. This was blown way out of proportion. I was disappointed that I didn’t experience the “HOLY SH1T THIS STUFF FEELS SO COOLING!” I’m not gonna say it doesn’t have a bit of a cooling feel! It does. But not the way it was described in the Tiktok review. It’s pretty much the minty cool feel you’d get from any lipgloss that has mint! So, yeah, I was disappointed.
But the cooling effect was about the only thing that was disappointing because this gloss is freaking awesome. First off, this has a heavy peppermint flavor and scent. I loved that. I know many people hate scented lipglosses and lipsticks but I love them. This has a cool, crisp, sugary peppermint taste that reminded me of Candy Canes! But the taste isn’t half of why I love this stuff.
I absolutely adored how shiny, juicy, and wet this made my lips look. It really has a super shiny finish and worked great alone, over lipstick, or even over your favorite gloss for extra shine. It really has a super shiny finish. The formula isn’t sticky or tacky either and manages to keep lips shiny looking for about two hours before wearing away!
Now, here’s the most important part. THIS STUFF MAKES MY LIPS LOOK HUGE! HOLY COW! It’s not a plumping gloss but for some reason it made my lips look really plump and juicy. I’ve worn it over a variety of different lipsticks and it really creates beautiful volume on my lips and makes them look really plumed up. I dunno what’s going on but I’m here for it.
All in all, Fenty Gloss Bomb Ice was a bit disappointing at first (hey, I wanted to experience that cooling feel) but in the end this stuff came through. This will become part of my regular line up of clear glosses. I absolutely love it.
