I’m Obsessed With Looking at Pictures of Myself Because of This CC Cream

Tarte Shape Tape Cloud CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Sunscreen is a new sheer, lightweight CC Cream that launched a few months ago and I am absolutely obsessed with looking at myself in the mirror and in pictures because of it.
So, full disclosure I HATE looking at myself in a mirror and I really hate looking at myself in pictures. All I see are flaws, flaws, and more flaws. I hate my eyebrows, I hate my smirky smile, I hate that uncomfortable feeling of taking a selfie for a review, I hate how awkward I feel when I’m taking pictures by myself or even with friends and family members, and I really just hate posting these pictures on the Internet.
But I do it….! Because this is a makeup blog and I love makeup and I love to wear it and that means I’ll need to take a picture here and there and slap it up on this blog and across social media and I have to make peace with that.
Tarte Shape Tape Cloud CC Cream came into my life and suddenly I’m all, “Damn! I look good in this picture!” I’m dry and dryness means I’m also, a bit dull looking without makeup on. I’m always looking for coverage to even out my skin tone without looking like I’m WEARING foundation because I really don’t need a ton of coverage. My skin is clear (except lately I’ve gotten some weird mask or hormonal acne on my chin! Not cool!) and I’m not prone to blemishes. My eyes are where I need and want the most coverage but my complexion is just fine which means lightweight, sheer coverage is cool for me.
Tarte Shape Tape Cloud CC Cream was released a few months ago and I meant to try it but never did. Fast forward and it went on sale during Ulta’s 21 Days of Beauty Sale and I was like now is a good a time as any to give it a try. You see, I did want to try this but also, I think I waffled on the purchase a bit because Tarte releases SO MANY foundations it feels like it’s the same formula in new packaging. They sort of remind me of NYX with the constant long-wear lipstick releases. It just feels like the same product with different packaging. I think that’s why I was intrigued by Shape Tape Cloud CC Cream but not really running to the store to grab it.

They market this formula as a light-as-air medium-buidable coverage CC Cream with a matte finish that feels like skin and a bouncy-cloud-like texture. I resent the fact they used the Shape Tape name to be honest because this doesn’t have anywhere near the coverage of Shape Tape Concealer. That being said most of what they say about the formula is true but I disagree strongly about “medium-buildable coverage as this provides fairly light sheer coverage. I’m also really not thrilled nor interested in the SPF15. For one thing that’s too low a sunscreen to impress me! Why even bother including it? And secondly, I’m not one that depends on my foundation for sun protection.
This comes in a 1 oz tube and is $39. The tube has an attached pump for easy, mess-free dispensing. We should discuss the price for a minute. I think it is too expensive. It’s a GREAT product and I’d buy it again but I’ll do so grumbling about the price. It’s just not pigmented enough to warrant a near $40 price tag. Sorry!
I got two shades and both seem to fit my skin type well enough but I do wish they had a shade with a more light peach undertone as that would work best for my light-medium skin tone. I got 29N Light Medium Neutral which is great when my skin is a bit darker (I tan easily even with strong SPF) and 27S Light Medium Sand which worked out the best of the two.

They call the consistency of the formula bouncy with a cloud-like texture which yeah, it sort of is. It’s a creamy almost whipped-up consistency that feels like more of a moisturizer than a foundation. I loved the texture! It blends and applies like a dream. It also happens to adhere just like a second skin which is exactly what Tarte promised. The coverage leaves a lot to be desired if you like full coverage foundations. I personally loved the coverage it provided. It evens out my skin tone, brightens it, and provides just the right color correction that leaves my complexion looking flawless, bright, and filtered. Yes, I said filtered. I don’t have visible pores but this stuff just creates this beautifully smooth canvas that makes me look all airbrushed and filtered in my photos! It’s quite moisturizing but very breathable and sets to a semi-matte finish. Sadly, it only wears for around five hours and tends to fade soon after hour five.

My skin is a bit tanned at the moment as we just got back from vacation so above I’m using the darker 29N shade above. The picture is taken indoors in a low light setting using my iPhone. Nothing special as far as photo settings just click and shoot.
It has faults like the price and wear time but Tarte Shape Tape Cloud CC Cream is a keeper for me. I love this one!
Do check it out if you like light coverage!
Where to buy
Tarte Shape Tape Cloud CC Cream Broad Spectrum SPF 15 Sunscreen is a new $32 lightweight foundation that’s 1 oz in size and available in 21 shade selections. This formula is quite sheer but provides enough coverage to even out skin tone and brighten up your complexion. The texture is a light, creamy almost whipped consistency that blends easily with a semi-matte finish that didn’t adhere to drier areas on my skin and had a nice, skin-like look! It’s very natural and beautiful. It does wear for a shorter time at around five hours and the SPF 15 is rather useless but if you enjoy lighter coverage this is an excellent pick!
- Brightens the complexion.
- Feels skin-like and looks natural.
- Eases dullness and gives skin a filtered look.
(bulleted list for pros)

- Shorter wear at just five hours.
