Victoria’s Secret Bare Is Like a Warm, Cozy Hug for Fall
Victoria’s Secret Bare Eau de Parfum is a new skin scent created to react with your body chemistry and produce a signature unique fragrance. The fragrance contains different musks with gorgeous sandalwood, mandarin Madagascar, and Egyptian violet. From my understanding, this will be a permanent part of Victoria’s Secret Fine Fragrance Collection going forward and is not a limited edition.
I sort of think of this as a nod to the viral sensation that PHLUR created called Missing Person. Missing Person is also a skin scent and creates an aura of something that is familiar when worn. Victoria’s Secret obviously was not duplicating that marketing by any means (as we know the love to copycat) but it just feels very PHLUR like the way they went about marketing this fragrance on social media, particularly on Tiktok. Honestly, it feels like they created the scent for Tiktok in the hopes it would gain as much attention as Missing Person did.
That being said, this isn’t a dupe or a copycat of Missing Person. It’s different, unique, and quite an experience that I highly recommend trying out as for me, it’s one of their best fragrance releases in a very long time.
I purchased Bare Eau de Parfum along with the body lotion when it launched. And yes, Tiktok made me do it. I started seeing all these paid sponsorships and of course, I fell for them instantly and wandered over to the VS website and blind purchased both the lotion and a large 3.4 oz bottle. Are you sobbing in outrage that I blind-brought this? I do that with a lot of fragrances because I tend to like to avoid aggressive sales reps and also, because sometimes my stores are just late getting new items. In the case, of my Victoria’s Secret Bare Eau de Parfum purchase I just didn’t want to go to the mall and deal with really aggressive, “Can I help you? Can I help you? You should try this! You need this!” I just can’t. It gives me a migraine when I have to tell sales reps, “No thank you! I’m good” over and over again.
The way the sponsored Tiktoks was going I felt very safe purchasing this without a sniff test and I was right. I ended up loving it! It’s exactly how those paid ads described and I was not only happy with my purchase but also, I was ready to get everything they had available scented like this. I can see this easily becoming one of my signature scents. It’s luxurious, it smells quite expensive not to mention it’s ideal for the cooler Fall nights ahead. It’s cozy, warm, and it is indeed, that beautiful skin scent they promised. It’s a very clean scent with a touch of sweetness. I wouldn’t call it a gourmand but it does lean towards that genre with that drop of sweetness. It’s a bit powdery and has that old Hollywood pin-up thing going on.
To me, it’s everything I’d want from a skin scent. It’s sexy but cozy and warm. Sultry but also, comforting like a big hug from the person you loved the most. I keep reading reviews saying that the sandalwood is barely detectable but my nose picks it up just fine. It adds warmth to the fragrance and showcases the mandarin Madagascar note beautifully. One note I did not notice is the violet. I actually sort of grew out of my Guerlain voilet scented everything is awesome phase. I’m not really into violet in my fragrances. The note tends to smell medicine-like to my nose. Thankfully, it works in this fragrance as I didn’t catch it here! It seems subtle and not noticeable at all. One thing to note is the scent does have that Victoria’s Secret DNA. It just smells very like something VS created if that makes sense. And this isn’t a bad thing by any means but I think it deserves mentioning that the fragrance does just give off those vibes.
I absolutely adored this scent. It’s perfect for Fall. It also has nice sillage and created a lovely scent bubble around me that had people asking, “What are you wearing?” It also, lingers on clothing, on our sheets, it’s a scent that really does remind you of clean skin.
Absolutely well done on this one Victoria’s Secret. I highly recommend checking it out. If you’d rather not dish on a bottle you can grab the Fragrance Mist or even a rollerball to try out!
