Complete UPC List for Recalled Unilever Dry Shampoos with Cancer Causing Benzene
Unilever announced a few days a voluntary recall of 19 dry shampoo products sold in the United States due to concerns about benzene, a chemical known to cause cancer. The products in this recall were produced prior to October 2021 and include Dry Shampoos from Dove, Nexxus, Suave, TIGI (Rockaholic and Bed Head), and TRESemmé. As per Unilever, as of now, they know of no illness that occurred to anyone who has used these products but have put out a recall on them regardless and Unilever urged consumers to stop using the affected aerosol dry shampoo products immediately and visit the company website for eligible product reimbursements.
Exposure to benzene, which is classified as a human carcinogen, can occur through inhalation, ingestion, or through skin contact and can result in cancers including leukemia and blood cancers, according to the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. Although we are exposed to benzene daily the exposure can be considered dangerous depending on the dose and duration of contact as per the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.
Some of the items include Dove Dry Shampoo Fresh Coconut, Nexxus Inergy Foam Shampoo, TRESemmé Dry Shampoo Volumizing, Bed Head Dirty Secret Dry Shampoo, and more. A complete UPC table for the items is available and I’m linking it here should you have any of these products you can check to see if they were recalled.
