Tarte Glowlight Skin Filter for Spring 2023

Tarte Glowlight Skin Filter ($30) is a new all-over glowing skin highlighter that can be used to blur, brighten, and create a luminous glow on skin. Highlighters and eye brightening formulas seem to be going hard for Spring 2023 as everyone tries to capture the success of Charlotte Tilbury’s Hollywood Flawless Filter and E.L.F. Halo Glow Liquid Filter! I know currently there’s a bit of outcry about this as people feel like it’s a similar if not the same formula as Tarte’s Shape Tape Glow Wand and I can’t lie I thought the same. But Tarte is notorious for launching and relaunching similar products (they remind me of NYX in that aspect).

That being said, Glowlight Skin Filter is only available in six shades and Glow Wand is available in eight. It’s also a dollar more at $30 compared to $29. They contain some of the same ingredients which I compared below (the ingredients vary shade to shade on Glowlight) but for the most part, there is a good deal of more hydrating ingredients found in this new formula. The ones I posted were for the shade Sunkissed).

Water/Aqua/Eau, hydrogenated didecene, mica, glycerin, propanediol, squalane, cetyl PEG/PPG-10/1 dimethicone, polydecene, hydrogenated styrene/isoprene copolymer, sodium chloride, caprylic/capric triglyceride, sargassum pacificum thallus extract, gardenia taitensis flower extract, hydroxyacetophenone, polyglyceryl-4 isostearate, cetyl dimethicone/bis-vinyldimethicone crosspolymer, 1,2-hexanediol, caprylyl glycol, trisodium ethylenediamine disuccinate, triethoxycaprylylsilane, hoya lacunosa flower extract, sodium hyaluronate, cocos nucifera (coconut) oil, tocopherol, alumina, magnesium oxide, pentaerythrityl tetra-di-t-butyl hydroxyhydrocinnamate. (+/-): Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), bismuth oxychloride (CI 77163), iron oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499).

Water/Aqua/Eau, Hydrogenated Didecene, Mica, Glycerin, Propanediol, Squalane, Cetyl Peg/Ppg-10/1 Dimethicone, Isoamyl Laurate, Hydrogenated Styrene/Isoprene Copolymer, Caprylic/Capric Triglyceride, Sodium Chloride, Hydroxyacetophenone, Polyglyceryl-4 Isostearate, 1,2-Hexanediol, Caprylyl Glycol, Trisodium Ethylenediamine Disuccinate, Mangifera Indica (Mango) Seed Butter, Shea Butter Ethyl Esters, Polymethylsilsesquioxane, Hoya Lacunosa Flower Extract, Pentaerythrityl Tetra-Di-T-Butyl Hydroxyhydrocinnamate, Phenoxyethanol, Glycyrrhiza Glabra (Licorice) Root Extract, Diamond Powder, Citric Acid. Iron Oxides (CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Bismuth Oxychloride (CI 77163)

This new formula promises to blur, brighten, and hydrate and leaves skin with a dewy glow without looking shimmery or sparkly. It does contain mica so, I’d take the marketing with a grain of salt about being shimmery! I watched the small video on Tarte’s website they have of Jen applying it and I personally didn’t like the look. I screenshotted it below. It just looks a bit too oily for me. I’m really not a fan of glowy or dewy products on my skin. This formula can be worn alone, under your favorite foundation, over your favorite foundation, or just on the higher points of your face for a nice glow.

No doubt they’ll do great with this. I’m personally not a fan of products like this but I’m sure it’ll fly off shelves as people really loved CT and E.L.F.’s version!

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. Mmmmmmmm…does anyone still use Crisco for pie crusts? A can of Crisco will look great on my vanity, my TikTok wow hit 50K views, my IG…. Glowy is tricky. The model looks greasy to me. Saie gave me the same crisco effect. Works for some, I guess.
