Ariana Grande Mod Vanilla Is My First 2023 Fragrance Purchase

Ariana Grande MOD Vanilla Eau de Parfum is one of two fragrances (MOD Blush is the other) that launched a few short weeks ago for Spring 2023 that contains notes of pink freesia, plum, creamy musks, vanilla, and other yummy gourmand notes.

This is my first fragrance purchase of 2023 and it was a blind one. I purchased it and Mod Blush from ulta.com using my 20% off coupon code I got in December as well as reward points I had saved up. I had no idea what to expect but I had already heard the rumblings of what a delightful vanilla it was and that alone put it on my radar! Combined with the fact that I really enjoy Ariana’s fragrances, it was an easy buy for me.

Ariana Grande MOD Vanilla arrives in an elegant white box with black and white photos of Ari printed on it. The bottle is a curved, oblong flanker that fits with Ari’s space theme that she embraces for a lot of her makeup and fragrance releases. The bottle almost looks like some unique, expensive moisturizer or something. Ari’s full name is printed along the side of the bottle but aside from that you can’t really tell what’s inside until you pick the bottle up and realized it’s liquid. It’s minimal but pretty.

I absolutely adore this scent. For a celeb fragrance, I dare say it might be considered a bit generic but also, it’s a unique generic that I haven’t personally smelled before. So, you aren’t picking something up that smells like any old celebrity fragrance. This has the DNA of a celeb fragrance but it’s very unique and different! And no it doesn’t smell like Cloud (or Cloud 2.0). This also happens to have the best silage out of all of Ariana’s fragrances. It creates a beautiful scent bubble around the wearer and lasts all day.

Somehow, someway, they managed to capture all sorts of elements in this little fragrance which makes it difficult to call it a gourmand. It smells clean, it smells slightly sweet, it smells yummy…The fragrance has a certain complexity that doesn’t fit into any one genre. The composition of notes has my nose turning in circles trying to determine where it would fit into the fragrance world.

The top notes, during that initial spray, has sweet yet clean notes of pink freesia, plum, and a creamy white musk. I immediately smell the sweetness of the pink freesia closing followed by a warm, creaminess from the musk. The middle notes ar orris butter, white praline, and jasmine petals. You can definitely pick up some of the jasmine in the mix and they create a nice compliment to the freesia while being enveloped by the creaminess of the musk. As it settles into the skin the base notes come out and you’ll get a full hit of sweet vanilla that enwraps the entire fragrance in a cozy hug. The dry-down also has a bit of cocoa butter but I didn’t get that. This isn’t a cakey vanilla but more of a skin-like vanilla that adds sweetness and depth to the fragrance. It’s just so much happening with this scent! Sweet, clean, cozy, warm, comforting, it all comes out. Interestingly enough, a lot of the notes are still detectable well after wearing it for several hours. It retains the sweetness of the fruit notes, the clean, comforting and creaminess from the musks and vanilla, and the lovely delicate floral touches.

This is a beautiful fragrance that works perfectly by itself but will likely also cocktail well with other vanilla fragrances. I can’t urge you to purchase this enough! It’s a lovely scent well worth grabbing.
