Essence Pure Nude Baked Blush Review & Swatches
Essence Pure Nude Baked Blush ($5.99/0.24 oz) is a new lightweight, pigmented blush inspired by Essence’s beloved classic Pure Nude Highlighter. Available in eight shades these are a baked formula that promises a lightweight, pigmented finish. I had a funny little feeling these would sell out fast after I purchased two shades and I was right. Currently, there are only three of the eight shades available at ulta.com.
I happen to love baked blush! I’d say that probably stems from my love of Laura Geller Blush n Brighten and the old Bourjois Paris Little Round Pot Blush Blusher. When I saw these launch two weeks ago on Ulta’s website I didn’t hesitate to purchase a few. I was going off promo images but I was a little disappointed with the shade range as many of them looked the same which is why I only got two. But aside from that I actually really, really liked this formula and I hope Essence releases more in the future.
Essence Pure Nude Baked Blush definitely falls in the cheap thrills category. At six bucks each these blushes are generously sized and come packaged in a basic black package with a clear bubble top that you case see the blush shade through.
The ingredients do say the blushes contain mica and the few reviews I read on Ulta sounded promising but I did keep reading that people found them too shimmery. I gotta say I wouldn’t mind shimmer but the finish for me was a pure silky satin no shimmer, glitter, nor glow was in visible on my cheeks after application. I’m really confused about what people are talking about regarding shimmer.
The blushes are a smooth, baked domed and I was delighted and surprised how I picked up the color so easily without creating a powdery mess. My brush ran across them without creating a ripple of powder! As promised the formula was soft, silky, and pigmented but not so pigmented that they gave me clown cheeks. The color applies smoothly, and seamlessly, and didn’t adhere to drier areas on my face. They almost have an airbrushed look and finish that was very, very flattering. I get about seven hours of wear from them before they fade a good deal which classifies them as not exactly long-wearing. Like many baked blushes these are Made in Italy.
Essence Pure Nude Baked Blush was a win for me. Both shades I got were very flattering. I do wish the shade range was a bit better but overall, the formula, color pay off, and application was wonderful.
I’d recommend checking these out.
