Merit Solo Shadow Cream-to-Powder Soft Matte Eyeshadow ($24) is a new range of talc-free cream-to-powder single shade shadows with a soft matte finish. Available in eight shades these contain peptides and provide a sheer wash of silky matte color to lids that apparently have long-wear without creasing or fading. I am beyond excited about this launch!

Shades:

  • Studio (cool taupe)
  • Vachetta (warm beige)
  • Midcentury (warm brown)
  • Brun (deep brown)
  • Social (soft mauve)
  • Viper (warm green)
  • Nelson (soft gray)
  • Midnight (classic navy)

There’s some irony in the fact I’m so hyped about these because I have always been a shimmer sparkle eyeshadow girl. But as I’ve gotten older I really do appreciate an elegant matte eyeshadow especially one with a soft, silky formula that applies easily. I think my matte hate stems from the fact I come from a time when mattes were dry, chalky, patchy, and difficult to apply. Mattes have evolved so much in recent years. They are softer, silkier, more pigmented, never patchy, and apply like a dream. 10 years ago I’d be shocked at how many I actually have in my collection.

I happen to be a fan of Merit. I think it doesn’t get enough hype for what it offers. It’s an elegant, sophisticated, and small range of products that have stellar formulas. Rumors of Merit releasing single eyeshadow shades has been on the horizon for a while now. The brand doesn’t currently offer eyeshadow at all so this is big for them! I have no doubt they put a lot of effort into this launch and the formula will likely be amazing. The new Merit Solo Shadow Cream-to-Powder Soft Matte Eyeshadow aren’t yet available but are launching shortly for Fall 2023. I’ll be reviewing them as soon as they become available as I really want to try these out for myself.

Will you be checking out Merit Solo Shadow Cream-to-Powder Soft Matte Eyeshadows?

These launch August 22nd.

I’m VERY interested in these! I really love the shades. So often you only have one or two neutrals but every one of these is a shade I would wear. I am a huge fan of cream to powder eye shadows. As I’ve gotten older I just feel like this formula works best for my routine. I don’t spend the time anymore with complicated eye looks. My aging eyes look best with a soft matte look of one or two colors. I’m looking forward to hearing your opinion of them.

likewise becky! As I get older I truly do appreciate nice creams especially in a cream formula! It just works best for me and I don’t have to spend a ton of time on complicated looks either! Swipe, blend, done!

I feel the same way about shimmer and matte now that I’m older. But these do look tempting.

I ordered the midcentury . I like shimmer but a nice everyday brown might be just the thing. I usually prefer a taupe eyeshadow. I have a few other Merit products which I really like. I have been wearing the Aperitif lipstick most of the summer.
