Why Did I Ever Like This Blush?

Do you ever regret parts of your makeup collection and wonder why you ever purchased an item or why you own so many colors of one item? Do you ever wonder why you LOVED some beauty item a year ago or five years ago but don’t find the joy in it now?

I’ve questioned my life of a blush recently. One I was absolutely insane about ten plus years ago! I believe I own every single shade of this blush but rarely have I reached for it in recent years! I haven’t destashed it but it does sit rather lonely in my drawer wondering why I never reach for it anymore.

For many years now I question why Tarte hasn’t reformulated their Amazonian Clay Blush. They really, really need a new finish with this formula. Glisten (although, Melt Cosmetics Genesis is WAY nicer!) is probably the best shade they have and honestly, if they would do more shimmer shades in this formula I’d happily buy it.

I used to think the WORLD of Amazonian Clay Blush! Remember every year we’d get that massive Amazonian Clay Blush Book? I know I got hyper when they launched one! Remember how it always sold out? Ahh it was a good time for makeup.

It took me a long time to realize I don’t like these blushes. They’re too dry, a bit too pigmented and bold (I always end up with clown cheeks when applying them), but they are crazy long-wearing. They all appear matte to me versus satin. This is only the single shades I’m talking about because the ones they include in some of their Holiday blush palettes due have a better finish (and some include a nice glow or sparkle).

Why did I convince myself I absolutely adored these? Maybe it’s because the blush, at that time, was very innovative. It had bright, vibrant shades, it was long-wearing, it was pretty much an amazing find in the makeup world back then. But now it feels very dated to me and I question why I own all these shades.

How about you?

What makeup purchases did you love but don’t love anymore?

Is Tarte Amazonian Clay Blush one?

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse.
