I Know It’s Not the Best Day But…

I know it’s not our best day but as a wise man once said “We must accept finite disappointment, but never lose infinite hope”. If you seek refuge I hope you find it with me today. Sometimes just talking about makeup makes me feel better. I hope reading about it makes you feel safe and less anxious.

Continue being the good humans I know you are.

About the Muse

Isabella MuseIsabella is just an average everyday geeky girl who doesn’t blend her eyeshadow correctly, wears too much blush, and hopes she never finds her holy grail products because she likes the thrill of the chase so much. Her mission is to bring you super honest reviews on makeup, skincare, fragrance and all things beauty. She’s in no way an expert on the topic and she sure as hell isn’t a super model. But she’s passionate about makeup and is seeking like-minded individuals that like pina coladas, getting caught in the rain, and ones that enjoy spending hundreds of dollars at Sephora without feeling buyer’s remorse. If you’re that person feel free to reach out and leave a comment or follow me on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and Bloglovin‘.

I’m soothing my nerves with some retail therapy. At Ulta, I got the Bobbi Brown Crushed Oil lip gloss set (my two favorite shades, plus one limited edition), a Bobbi Brown tinted lip balm, NARS Radiant Concealer, and the Living Proof gift set with two Advanced Clean dry shampoos.

Between my $10 off $50 coupon and redeeming 2000 points, this entire haul only cost $8.50!

Hi Muse, your blog and wise words have always hit the mark with me for over 10 years. Keep up the good work!

BTW, check out the holiday collection from Merle Norman… yeah, it’s kind of viewed as an ‘old bat’ brand but the colors and formulas are gorgeous and all kinds of shimmery and buttery! Heading to Ulta.com now!

Best words I learned in basic training: Square those shoulders and PRESS ON.

    • Isabella Muse

aw jana your comment made my day thanks for being a friend for so long! <3! I appreciate you! And yes, keep calm and carry one. We got this! We're strong! 🙂 Oh ok, you got me, because I'm an old bat officially and Merle Norman brings back feel good memories hehe! I'll go look! 😀 have fun doing an ulta haul 😀 much much love!

I’m leaning toward buying only necessities for the near future. We need to send the oligarch class a message. They pushed the felon on us, and are going to pretend the good economy Biden helped construct after the Trump debacle was Trump’s doing! No more buying (grossly) overpriced items because “inflation.” Nor buying based on bogus sale prices (starting with an MSRP that no one ever actually paid, then putting a % off). Once again, I’ll say we should boycott especially $100 and up perfume. That price is insane and insulting, and truly, no one needs perfume.

Thank you for this post. I am so anxious and sad. I have deleted all the news apps on my phone and am concentrating on all my favorite makeup websites right now.

    • Isabella Muse

Please don’t be sad or anxious Julie (easier said than done). We’re here, we’re alive, the sky is still above our heads (it didn’t fall hehe). We’ll get through it like we do all things 🙂 I promise we’ll be ok. <3! And that's the best idea. The news can be super overwhelming lately. Hurricanes, fires, etc...it's been a crazy time lately. Shutting that down is exactly what we all need sometimes <3!

  • Lisa Marie

Thank you for these words. I have been finding comfort myself by looking through my Sephora wishlist, sorting my current stash and putting on an extra spritz of my favorite most expensive fragrance because boy do I need it now. Thank you for being here and just being a place for fun and beauty 🙂

    • Isabella Muse

Aw of course Lisa no thanks needed at all! We’re all here for each other. I think an extra spritz is absolutely in order 😀 I think I’ll do that too hehe! I’m glad you’re here <3! Stay strong! All will be well!

  • Carolina

Thank you for your kind words…I have been here reading your blog for such a long time… Yesterday I deleted tick tock didn’t watch news… And we will be ok… I think sometimes we need to read it to feel it… And make up is my distraction…in my bad days I fill my imaginary cart …

    • Isabella Muse

aw no thanks needed truly! Thank you for being a friend so long! I think that’s the best thing in the world. Sometimes tiktok makes me b*tchy. I hate to say that but I have to be honest with myself too! I dislike what social media does to me. When I start feeling that way I delete it and just take a break. Deleting it was a smart thing to do! It’s ok to just take a step back from it. I think sometimes just a small amount of words can mean a lot and I hoped to make everyone feel a little bit more comforted with a simple hey, I get it post. Imaginary carts are the best carts 😀 Hugs to you today and everyday Carolina <3!

Thank you for posting this. It warmed my heart to have my disappointment acknowledged. You are a good person and I hope no one trolls you for your comments.

    • Isabella Muse

aw thanks susan. everyone’s been great! I appreciate you caring about me being trolled! A lot of us are disappointment but we still live in a great country and I have hope all will be well. Head up! Stay strong 🙂

  • Gina

A lot of us 73 million strong are very pleased with the results and I wish politics didn’t get into everything I love. It just turns us against each other in what’s supposed to be a happy place.Keep it neutral. Don’t make the mistake Bud Light did

    • Isabella Muse

It’s ok we not to agree with each other so long as we’re nice about it, aren’t arguing or carrying on, etc…We’re adults right? It’s ok to have different beliefs without everything crumbling down around us because we don’t share the same opinion. Compare it to beauty. I hate matte liquid lipstick and maybe you love it (you might hate it too and if you do wahooo! Same club, sister!). That’s ok right? Same for politics, religion, moral beliefs, etc…If we were all the same life would be boring as hell 😀 Some people are very pleased with the results and some are a bit scared, anxious, and concerned. No matter if we are happy or not so happy of the outcome life will go on, we’ll continue to do our best, and hopefully, do our best by others.

  • Cindy

This isn’t the first time you have injected your politics into your beauty blog. Please stop it.
Clearly, many Americans disagree with you. Some of us are incredibly relieved that the political persecution, censorship & bullying might subside for the next 4 years.
Isn’t it enough that we have had to endure gaslighting & projection from our political leaders? I have forgiven your past political blurbs with the understanding that you live in a specific geographic area & live in a bubble.
Remember, some of us are offended by your stances on some issues. Don’t assume that we agree with what you have accepted as your truth.

    • Isabella Muse

Hi Cindy! I’ll be polite and bypass your “living in a bubble” comment. I’ll also let it slide that you’re “forgiving me” for this post and past posts. I hadn’t realized I was asking for forgiveness when I shared my thoughts, views, and opinions (none of which really made much of an appearance in this post anyway). Lord knows, I’d need a lot of forgiveness for some of the rants I’ve done on beauty in the past 15+ years. But I would like to address your interesting choice of words about censorship. Apparently it was a worry for you from your comment and it’s sort of ironic that it was a concern of yours as you appear to wish to censor what I wrote and curb my freedom of speech. You’re offended by my stance and I’m offended by your choice of words. I guess we can call it even and agree to disagree and like the adults we are we either remain friendly or you flounce off and never come back here again. The choice is yours because yay freedom! Also, I’m not assuming anything nor am asking anyone to accept my truth, my views, or my opinions. They are in fact my own and they don’t belong to you or anyone else. May the gods bless us everyday that we live in a country that allows us to say whatever we want without someone telling us to “please stop it”. Have a good day. Be kind.
